4/1/06: =D Custom Animal Theme Raffle Going On Now!

3/28/06: A custom animal-themed raffle will be held April 1st-April 5th. There will be two customs given away through the raffle, both must be based off a real animal pattern, that means they have to be animal patterned in design. biggrin

Cert Data: Due to a sudden shift in computers (the old one got taken away DX) I lost the cert I've been using. I'll be costructing a new one soon, but it may take me a while. In short: No new certs for a while! Apologies. New owners will be added to the owner list still, but no link to a cert will be provided until I have created a new cert to use. I apologize for the inconvinence. Keep in mind that you do not need a cert to put your deer in your sig, or to rp.

2/26/06: Congrats to our auction winners! n_n The guild is now up, however, I still need to do some indepth description of the areas. Those areas are open for rp still. :3 Just look in the roleplay post here for a bit of a description if you'd like. Everything is pretty much forest. biggrin So.. Yeah.

2/18/06: The flatsale went rather well, and the auction for the Sora and Riku deer has begun! Congrats to the flatsale winner. biggrin

I. Rule number one, the golden rule, be respectful.
II. Do not steal the artwork - I'll maul you if you do.
III. Do not harass anyone in this thread.
IV. Keep from using short hand (chat speak) or 1337. :
- I, for one, do not want to gain headaches trying to decode a paragraph. I don't mind the simple things such as lol, g2g, brb, etc. Just don't start typing something like so:
"hi! how R U 2day?". Understand?
V. Roleplaying is to be carried out in the third person. ( ex. 'Joe walked to the store')
VI. No Co-Owning.
VII. You are not permitted to sell your characters. If you don't want them anymore PM the mule so that they can be resold, or if you wish to give them to a friend/acquaintance provide a name of the person.
VIII. No god-moding. In other words, do not control a character that is not your own.
IX. These are not RP-Required. However, you do need to poke in every now and then. No just running away.

1. Oh! How do I get one of these?
- Through the means of most shops. You can acquire a SotF through a flatsale, raffle, auction, custom, event, or even a breeding.

2. How much do they cost?
-See the flatsale/auction/raffle/customs posts of the thread.

3. Are there any naming restrictions?
-Yes. As unfortunate as it is, I don't think I can handle seeing a deer/rabbit/skunk named Bob or Frank. There is no specific language to stick to, but please keep from naming your deer something like that, and don't name them after food. o_o Please, please, pick serious names.

4. What is the setting for roleplay?
- A forest area stretching through the northern half of North America. The time period is best described as colonial.

5. Are there predator animals? Like wolves, bears?
- Er. Not at the moment.

6. Will there ever be?
- Maybe?

7. Can I play a native american/colonial hunter?
-Sure! It'll make for good roleplay. However, your animal characters are not intended to be companions for a human, thus should not be.

8. Do the animals die?
- They can. If you disappear off the face of Gaia, or if it is necessary for plot purposes. Generally, your character will not be killed unless for plot purposes.

9. Hey! Shadows of the Forest? That's a rip off of Shadows of Africa (and Shadows of Alaska) !!!
-WRONG! ;_; I did consult Dustfeather before I even made this thread, and I got permission to use the 'Shadows of' half of the shop title.

10. Are Pet trades done?
-See "Trades" Post.

11. Okay, Is there a limit to how many I can own?
- Nope! Not at all.

12. I want a featured character!
- Read through that section and apply accordingly. n_n

13. Wait, hold on. Those don't sound like anything from Bambi...
- The shop is loosely based on Bambi. In the end, things took a more native american theme, the territories for the deer representing tribes.

14. Can I get a custom/win a flatsale/auction/raffle, etc. and have it be a member of one of the groups?
- You'll have to send me a PM discussing the history of your character. If you simply wish to join the group and your character was previously a rouge just introduce your character and snag an Rp with a council elder. If they accept your character they're in the group. 3nodding

15. How come someone can play The Great Prince?! What about Bambi?!
-Bambi isn't born yet. XD Think of this as a prequel?

- A deer is a ruminant mammal belonging to the family Cervidae. Males are generally referred to as Stags, Bulls, and Bucks. Females are generally referred to as Does, Hinds, or Cows. Young deer: Fawn, or Calf. They differ from other ruminant mammals due to the fact that they have antlers rather than horns. Antlers are bony growths that develop with each passing year, and are usually seen on male deer. However, there are exceptions to 'antler=male'. A doe can produce anywhere from one to three fawns, although triplets are not very common. Deer are selective feeders and eat a small variety of things: Twigs, fresh grasses, young levees, fruits, fungi, and lichen.

Flatsales are generally done in the old fashion of 'speed'. Occasionally they may be done in a prompt-response fashion, but it's more than likely that you are going to see something speed based. The flatsale price is 2k for all creatures. Rabbits, Skunks, and Deer alike cost 2k, no more, no less.

Flatsale Rules.
- You must have shown interest in the thread prior to the flatsale (Ten minutes-half an hour before the flatsale at least. Or sometime within the week/day. In short, you must have shown intrest in the thread before the flatsale.)
- The Flatsale begins when you see GO! posted in big red letters.
- Speed-based sales are first come, first serve.
- Prompt-Response sales begin when GO is posted in big red letters. You have from the time of that post to one hour later to respond to the prompt. Judging will then occur and winners shall be picked.
- Newbie Flatsales are for Newbies only. Owners are permitted to try for a friend or someone who does not have one. BUT, if I ever catch someone with a mule the option will be taken away.
- Payment must be sent to The Great Prince.

Raffles are held infrequently, and at random. You'll just need to keep your eyes peeled if you want to participate in a raffle.

-Tickets cost 100g each, unless otherwise specified.
- Raffles can be newbie only.

There are no planned raffles.

Like Raffles, Auctions are random, although they are much more frequent. Auction is the only way to get cosplay characters, other than through the custom option.

- The starting bid for auctions is always the flatsale price of 2k.
- The auto buy for auctions is 100k, unless otherwise stated.
- Do not harass people in the auction thread. Do not discourage people from bidding, it's rude.
- Do not plan your bids in the thread, and please don't brag about outbidding someone else.
- Only gold and donation items at the mid-Lucky Devil pricing are accepted as payment.
- Calculate your own bids; I won't do it for you.

Looking for that special character? Wanting that special design? Then custom is probably the route for you to go!

-Custom characters are 100k each! The price may rise if markings are incredibly complicated, or if the line art editing is extensive. If the price is to rise it will be negotiated and decided. In short, some customs might cost more than others due to complication. There is no set price for increasing complication.

The forest area consists of four different territories, each resting under the shadowy, mysterious 'Great Prince of the Forest', who wanders from territory to territory making certain things are in order. It is rare for one to spot him, which leads to doubts in his existence as well as a rise for power amongst some of the adult males of the territories.

To the west is the Amadahy region, which consists of a giant lake and a small part of the forest. They are a peaceful group that prefers to settle things with negotiation rather than violence. This includes mating disputes between two adult males wishing to claim a female, arguments over treatment or food, etc. They are led by a 'council of elders', who handle most of the negotiating. If one must ally them with another group it is best to ally them with the group of deer to the east known as Ataqulkalu.

The Ataqulkalu are located to the east, and are the neighboring friends to the Amadahy. The two group share the lake freely, often breed with one another, and participate in various activities relating to the worship of the spirits of the forest. Like the Amadahy the Ataqulkalu are negotiators, not fighters, and are run by a 'council of elders'. Their territory consists mainly of trees, and the lake they share with their ally.

To the north lies the violent group known as the Chitto. They are completely distant from the other regions of the forest both in 'culture' and in mannerisms. Rather than negotiating, or even attempting such a thing, they turn to violence. In example, if two males fight over a female one of the males is going to die, end of discussion.
As far as their beliefs go: They do not believe in the existence of The Great Prince, nor do they worship the spirits of the forest. Rather than worshiping the spirits of the forest they worship what they call 'The Fighting Spirit', which is supposedly located within the hearts of themselves alone. They have an extreme rivalry with the other three groups of the forest and often try to dominate their territory for self gain. They are led by one sole leader alone named 'Cheveyo', who is probably the most violent deer you're ever going to meet. Their own land consists of hills, cliffs, and forest area. There is a field that also is part of their territory. Water is found in a very tiny spring.

Lastly, to the south is the Chitsa, which is more or less a 'free for all' region. The area consists of loner deer who wish to have little or no affiliation with others. Occasionally gatherings occur amongst the loner deer when threats arrive that affect them all. Most of the time they're on their own and ignoring one another and the other regions as well. Included within this region is a large field, and forest, as well as a river leading to the lake in the Amadahy/Ataqulkalu territories.

Breeding Information.

- Breeding is only avaliable to those who rp.

-Deer can produce up to three offspring, how many depends soley on a randomizer. Once a doe has bred they need to wait until their fawns have reached adolesence to breed again. Bucks do not need to wait to breed again.

- If you are ready for your SotF to breed then you need PM The Great Prince with information regarding the parents. Also, it can't be spontanious. The characters need to have met, at least, more than twice.
After you've PMed you will recieve a PM back regarding the number of babies you'll be getting.

- You may keep a total of two of your SotF's offspring, ever.

- You may not sell or trade the offspring. You may, however, give them away to friends, or hold a roleplay contest.

- Each new owner of one of the offspring produced needs to send a trade of 2k to The Great Prince.

- Lastly, no. A rabbit can not breed with a deer or a skunk, or vice versa/mixed up. Only with their own species.
