The place, little more than a hole in the ground from the outside. Within the town of Aekea, new housing developments revealed this cavern. Fromt he ground, all it appears to be is a large hole, nearly 10 feet wide, with long, wide stairs going deep into the earth.
Everything within the catacombs, is made of hard, cold, grey marble. Almost every inch of the stonework is covered in fine, smoothly cut runes, still distinct, though experts say the stonework seems to be thousands of years old.
What seems the strangest thing of all, is those that ventured inside say there is not a single speck of dust, cobwebs, or deterioration, that you would expect with ruins this old. In fact, it looks like its actively being maintained, though no one has yet to find the keepers of the crypts.
Currently professors and scholars, as well as the few wealthy looking for treasures, are looking for adventurous, or just plain desperate and foolish sorts, to go within the Catacombs and map out the area. Those of a scholarly bent demand that if the keepers are found, to leave them be, along with any relics, where as those with more, greedy, intentions, ask that those who enter bring back prizes. Dead Keepers, or relics and burial treasures.
Time and Conditions: 3 AM Local surface time. The Catacombs have no weather, it is always a constant tempurature of 78 degrees in there, with only a minor variance in heat. There is no light, no torches, nothing to combat the darkness of the crypts within the ruins. In fact, from the empty scones upon the walls, and empty altars, it seems the keepers have taken every torch and candle from the place.
