SOLVED!
(Hopefully) crying
(Hopefully) crying
NOTE: Some may have a red x for an avy and some may have some kind of square at the top (for firefox users).
Rawr~ So what is happening to your avatar? You log in and suddenly:

Le gasp! NO AVY! Which means you cannot dress up! Oh noes! D: *cries*
Some of you may have had this glitch for a loooong time. Some may have had it recently. In any event we HOPE to find out what is causing it. It obviously only effects some users. So why YOU of all people? crying
[-First Answer-]
Your avatar is being treated as an AD
Your avatar is being treated as an AD
Yep. A regular old advertisment. Some where in your personal firewall or adblocker (which will most likely be McAfee) it is treating your avy as nasty spam that it must get rid of!
So why?
Mindset
Theory#1: McAfee Privacy Service is what's causing this Customize Me problem.
Yes that's right! Your McAfee Privacy Service is what is causing the problem! Oh noes! D:
The Privacy Service is in itself not a firewall but it's an adblocker that is used to help protect your privacy (hence the name). It's not exactly a firewall but it's part of the McAfee service that includes a firewall.
We are still unsure on what is exactly causing McAfee to misinterpret your avy as an ad. Still, there is hope on fixing this! :O~!
[-Second Answer-]
UNcheck your block ads
UNcheck your block ads
Note:
Never, EVER, disable your firewall!!
This can only hurt your computer, possibly letting viruses in. Keep in mind, your computer's safety should be of more importance than customizing your avatar. sad
Besides for the fact that it's not a direct firewall issue. It's a pop-up issue.

If you can't find it, no worries! We have PICTURES for you so you can disable it properly. xd

In my tray on the lower right, I right-clicked on the McAfee icon, selected Privacy Service, and then Options.

I clicked the Block Ads tab, unchecked "Block Ads on this computer", hit apply...

..and voila!

For more information you can go here for of an indepth analysis.
So if you do these simple steps you can get your avatar back!
[-Didn't Work?-]
If the above workaround didn't work, do you happen to have any other Anti-pop-up program that may be causing your avy problem? If you do, it may be why your avy isn't showing up. Try disabling something that blocks ads in general and see if that works. If you find another workaround please post it here! :"3
[-Other Notes-]
Hopefully, this workaround will work for you guys. If you don't have McAfee as a firewall then something on your current firewall or adblocking service is blocking your avatar from showing up. Another program that hurts your avatar(s):
- Find and disable your "block ads" on your Microsoft Anti-Spyware, if you have it.
You'll have to find out where that option is by yourself I'm afraid. If you DO find it on other ad-blocker programs PLEASE post here about it, okay? We are always looking for more answers on this problem and I'm sure others would like to know as well if they also don't have McAfee but adblocker that is causing the problem.
If this workaround doesn't work.... crying Not sure what to do but we are STILL looking into the problem. Most likely your personal firewall is treating as an ad though.
Fill this out if the workaround did -not- work
If it did work you do not have to fill this out :"3

Old News that I'm leaving just in case

This is NOT for people that see a red X in their inventory! It is a different glitch entirely.
This thread is for people that absolutely cannot see their avatar in the Dress Up option. I'll compile a list of users that have this problem, just post in here and I'll be sure to add you to the list.
This is the problem that people are experiencing:

(Thanks phoenix_tenshi for providing the image)
NOTE: It is NOT a red X glitch. There is no avy or red x at all. Just a blank space.

More information about this bug:

The problem that I initially reported on, only affects certain accounts, most of the people that look like they have been reporting this in there, do use McAfee yes, but also seem like they have it on multiple accounts.
Now, there may be a seperate problem with McAfee, but based on the reports in there, it works for some of the people (apparently the people with the avatar not showing up on multiple accounts), where as it did not work on the people whom only have this problem on one account (making it view it as a server side related code error)
Mmmm... but yeah, for the people having problems on multiple accounts, a Firewall related issue wouldn't surprise me, certain Norton/Symantic softwares in the past have caused problems >_<;

Options we've tried:
Quote:
Cache/cooking clearing
Checked browser and firewall
Checked for spyware/adaware
I'm not sure what browser is doing it the most but I think both Firefox and IE users are affected by it. I'll have to get confirmation of this soon.

exclaim Change the IP to 72.5.72.* (include the "*" wink
The new main WWW IP is: 72.5.72.7
GAIA Apparently owns the entire netblock of 72.5.72.*
So basically anyone whom tosses in that string with the wildcard should be set for all GAIA IP's

This glitch itself should NOT be affecting all the accounts of a user at all, this is a glitch which based on my previous experience with people only really affected a single account, as I know of people who made up mules just to be able to use customize me.
Anyone whom has multiple accounts and has this problem on each individual one... i'd go to state that its gotta be something else, since it has been confirmed this is something GAIA side code atleast in that much aspect o.O;;
If someone is reporting it on multiple accounts, then I would inquire about what Browser(s) they have tried this on, and what (if any) firewall(s) they might be using.

I've asked some people to help out with informing people about this thread. If you find anyone with this problem please direct them to this thread or post his/her problems yourself! Thanks! X3~
