Kochou

I guess, I remember...

You know one of those spring days in which you visit the market? That market to which men shout out prices, compliment you so that you may come towards their sellig area, that market where one may actually bring a dog along? Well, having not much to do in my home as was usual I decided to go see this market, afterall it couldn't be so bad. It wasn't exceptionally good, however it wasn't a fiasco like I would've thought. Since the small tour wasn't quite what I had expected I returned to my 'home'. It's cold interior didn't surprise me, a house with no inhabitants but myself was bound to feel hollow. Yet, I wasn't as alone as I was lead to think. I travelled to my room, I layed down 'pon my bed and dreamed on to whatever I had to think on. Eventually I was accompanied by slumber, and I dreamed...

'Heavenly strikes will accompany the endless abyss,
the strange darkness to unfold will show itself to be heartless.
Yet fear not, evil isn't as pure as one may beleive it to be,
simply open your eyes to see.
Whispers of trees,
whispers of winds.
Breazes of seas,
things that blend.
But worry not and teach me to live,
and then a wonderous present will I give.'

Something shattered, I was awake. I looked about in my room, looking for that voice in my dream. I lifted, probably it was just an effect of my tiredness. I sleepily slipped my shows on, checking on my front step for any late evening letters, just a bill was there to greet me. I mumbled, what a luck. Picking it up with distaste and once again returning to my home, I was surprised by what awaited me. Winding up a small crystaline figure of a feline I had been presented with so long ago I can't even remember where I had found it, was a small flower. It's wing like leaves sprouted at the back of the figure, giving it hopes to lift of it's table. It hadn't bloomed however, this small flower was simply bathed in the sun and dwelled in my statue. I tried to pick it up, but the herb produced such a strong scent that I was unable to remove it. Since then I stay beside it, I do not know what it is exactly but I in the very least water and talk to this small palnt. It might sound foolish, but mayhap this small plant was come to learn something and make me company, at least that is my hope.

Kochou's Growth

Friday, January 6th, 2006 - 11:32 p.m
I was presented with this small bud after having won a Role Playing prompt in the Sakura Festival. Truly, I beleived I wouldn't win, but now as I look at this small bud it seems to have been true. As I have had this small bud for not even a day I can only admire it for now, soon I wish to know it.

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006 - 11:27 p.m
It has finally happened, the small flower has bloomed into a most unexpected creature. And, mind I say, she was all but what I thought she'd be...

Fri. January 6th, 2006 - Well, having been barely born and also having been the first Sepulchre ever to be, Kochou hasn't met yet another soul, if a bud can meet a soul that is. If a flower can feel presence and recognise it, I beleive I and my other pets are the only ones who have ever been in its presence... was I?

Family

Perhaps the small being doesn't know quite yet, but a family awaits her. Apart from myself there are other pets that wish to meet this flower once grown.

User ImageKukioo - By far he has been treating the flower as a specimen. He likes studying far too much for his own good, and is a rather grumpy Blathanna. He has made many sketches of Kochou, has even come to try and name it as a new plant or herb. He doesn't touch Kochou however, perhaps he feels life in it that is different from other flower life. Perhaps he feels some sort of vibration in it and due to that he is starting to become amazed at the small bud.

User ImageLee - He is kind to the little flower. He sometimes tries to carress it's petals, yet is soon forced to withdraw with the scent that Kochou releases. He likes to talk with the small flower very much, and even tries to clean the statue it dwells in. He'll a kind brother, he already senses that somehting in that flower is going to grow.

User ImageAirou - Well, there isn't much to say about this small porcupine. Due to a small unfortune with her original shop, she may never grow further then her already settled stage. She has a liking to try and climb up the bed stand where Kochou has been set, yet with her small paws she is uncapable of going much to far in her progress. Her greatest feeling towards the small bud is curiosity rather than anything else. Perhaps she doesn't feel much in the small bud, but once that flower blooms I hope she'll learn otherwise.

User ImageRock Lee - This is the chocobo that I received not too long ago. He has a dislike for the indoors, so he constantly opens my bedroom window to inspect Kochou. Sometimes he nudges the flower as if trying to awaken her, that is before he is repelled with her strong scent. Rock, as he'd rather me call him, doesn't seem to care about the smell however. Each time he is repelled, the immense bird simply waits for the scent to pass so he may once more poke his head through the window. He has a caring nature, a little clumsy however. I'm sure Kochou will come to the liking of perhaps causing mischeif towards Rock, his reactions tend to be most worth it.

User ImageLuffy - Now you haven't seen anything as pevish, childish, tricky, and yet somehow cute as is this Azantai. Receiving the cunning of a fox at birth and the prankster like attitude with time, this little creature has quite the peculiar body aswell. Having foolishly eaten (more like swallowed in one bite) an ancient devil fruit that grew from the branches of the nearly extinct Gum Gum tree, Luffy's body has been changed to fit the characteristics of rubber, with the cost of the loss of his swimming ability. Now, considering the pet is a partial dog, it is quite a pathetic unfortune. But, with a body of such amazing elasticity and resistance (along with his heck of a strong personality) Luffy has been quite a nice addition to the somewhat large family.

User ImageMonkey D. Luffy - Inspired in the same character as Luffy was, Monkey (as we like to call him) holds a bigger escence of childhood then his elder brother. You see, having met companions at a young age that didn't mind his oblivious and logical mind (so logical that it reached a point of stupidity) this small pony like pet only misses having his smile while he's eating. As rabid as his elder brother Luffy, he too is affected by the powers of the Gum Gum Fruit. But you have yet come to see someone that is as positive as he is regarding his strange physique.

User ImageVarekai - This feline is perhaps one of the most shy creatures I've come to see. He's respectful, yet isn't quite the best with words or socializing at that. However, it is always a pleasure to have him curl up on the bed, napping beside small Airou and watching Kochou. His eyes are dreamy, not that of a lover but of a philosopher. I may not say he is a poet, for a poet is nothing without love. However, if this feline looks hard enough, it is possible that his broken hearts can be mended.

User ImageZisran - This must be one of Kochou's greatest troubles back home. As he is a squirrel, and a curious one at that, Zisran tends to confuse Kochou for an acorn or nut of sorts. It is necesary that I keep an I on this little one as I'd not like Kochou to be harmed. Yet, his small shape holds such a great heart. Whatever he finds or whatever he gains, his first action is to share it with others. He likes to presence a smile on all surrounding faces, likes to see that he is appreciated. A young fellow in search for friends, nothing else.

User ImageShingi - Perhaps one of the few in the house that take Kochou much seriously. Having come from a vivid land with many arts originating from the dance, this feline like pet has strangely taken to a rather secretive and fleeting personality. Thus it'd explain how she can relate to Kochou, a quite being that exposes it's beauty so finely. Shingi also shows herself much independent, it is rare of her to request any help at all. However, she is much loved in the entire household, and in a few moments she may find a willing to talk to one of us for hours to come.

User ImagePumpkin - This, for as much as she has a close similarity to Kochou, seems to be the other trouble of the house. Pumpkin, or Kin as we all like to call her, has a taking for mischeviousness. She likes to do her pranks, her small tricks, probably something the small plant retreived from her holiday origin. Thought she gives us much to worry about, Kin is much appreciated in the house. As, you may see, she has something much like a Siren's song. It soothes the ambiance of the house, and it also causes all the males of my home to settle down and become peaceful. That is when my home is most calm, and the minutes that follow her musics are always the most unperturbed of our daily routines. Kin has many other qualities, she is one of the few that actually like to hear me speak of stories or philosophical ideas. If only there was a way to bring her to my house permamently so she'd be more accustomed to her family, but I am guessing it is best she know about them later.

User ImageBelzebu - Now this shows himself to be Don Juan revived. This demonic pegasus cannot refrain from flirting whatever other female comes into his eye sight. He beleives Kochou would make a fine lady once she is of age, but I am still bound to know how it is Belzebu can know such things. Luffy has the tendency of joking around with this pet, which normally ends up in a small confrontation between the yearling and the azantai. However, both are unbeatable when it comes to entertaining. Be it friendly, or even midst a fight, the nature of Belzebu is always that of hilarious origin, perhaps that is what makes him charming.

User ImageNhyoo - It is about time we met our odd ball of the house. Nhyoo, as we have come to name her, can never make a coherent statement. She contradicts herself, yet smiles at whatever the situation may come to be. She adores to sleep as much as she adores to lift me and rush around. I'm not in any doubt when I say that Nhyoo has long fallen in love with the wind, the spirits of this earth, and especially to my incense. Though that cross has been settled on her fore head at birth, this chocobo is an indian at heart. Like myself, she beleives that there is no certain god, only the spirits that take care of the world and of us. I remember reading a small thing she had managed to write (don't ask me how) one day. "Born from the earth, grown by the wind, in qualm with the water, and in dance with the fire; this is the cycle of whatever has come to be and whatever is." I must say that I was shocked by this. As shocked as I was when she offered Kochou tea, an experience I'd rather not narrate.

I am not quite sure what this flower will come to like in the future, but I have a prediction. Since it has been growing on this crystal figurine for so long perhaps the small flower will come to like it.

Doujinshi Anna

Name(last, first): Doujinshi Anna

Age: 14 years old

Location: Brazil

Gender: Female

Race: Human, yet has a tinge of feline blood.

Nickname: Anna to everyone who wishes, and Shumpum to my very closest friends.

Personality: I am lazy for any sort of work, I dislike any sort of problems. The world to me is fun, a great game that you only get to play once and should enjoy your turns. I am strange indeed, in times I feel like I'm in deep pain and in times I feel like I'm the most energetic creature around. I can be poetic and romantic, as can I be random as hell. I have no set personality apart from one, a lover of all music who wills to help whatever being asks for her aid.

The winning Entry

Rolling hills once jade in hue now seemed covered in the cherrygrove's petals. The scent of the night lady flower slips through the atmosphere of the dusk that now painted the skies. The dying sun subsided from it's job, small specks of light now gleamed in the velvet that is the night. I lay my back 'pon the trunk of the great Sakura tree to which I have been presented, I let it's bark hold my weight so I may rest amongst this peace. I simply touch this grand tree and I am one with its soul. I may feast my eyes 'pon the horizon, not a single other oak and not even a small root to graze these earths apart from this one tree who now provides me shelter. I awaken from it's spirit as a small butterfly flutters towards this ancient tree, resting 'pon its root and blossoming it's beatiful indigo wings into one of the many flowers of the grove. I need not speak to it so the tree may tell me it's secrets. I simply have to hear the sound of it's silence to soon find its voice soothing my auds. 'I give all the life one may dream, and I wish thee to stay by me. I give all the company one may want, and I wish to accompany thee. I perhaps my roots could lift and walk, I'd be sure to leave. But as I see that you may hear me talk, I will always remember thee.' This grove pelts me with it's petals whenever cool breezes accompany the night, this grove feeds me with berries as sweet as its very tone, it even sings to me within it's silence. Why go home in such a peaceful place? Here I may live a dream of peace, here I sense that something desires my presence, here I need not worry with such things as war and fight. Here I may live, for as much as eternity may grant me time.

Yet this grove seems to be dying, it seems to be crying. I may try to carress it and I may try to soothe its soul, but it wakes me during the nights with its soft weaping. It's heart breaking, this sadness of the grove. Its a soul that desires to be free, it wishes to be the wind which grazes its flowers and picks its berries. And I whisper to thee. "Worry not, this pain of yours has an end. Worry not, this sufferment will soon blend. It'll blend into a deep dream, a fantasy. And soon you'll see, this hope of yours, will be reality." And it ceases its weaping, gives me a reasong to be.

Then, in my final night, it whispers to me. 'I have kept a secret from thee...' I fall silent and listen. The wind once again grazes its flowers. 'Butterflies are flowers that have learned to fly. They gracefully dance 'pon the breezes and they are free to always be. Yet I am just a tree, and now I fear I must leave. Yet worry not my darling, I will always be with thee. I will forever follow thy soul, 'till the bounds of eternity' It finally whispers, sending a chill within my soul. The winds violently blow it's final strength, taking from it all the flowers that have served me with warmth and protection. Now I turn to face this old grove, not a single flower to dote its soul. And I turn to the horizon, what once was dusk is now my home. I lift, was it a dream? In comes a butterfly, fluttering beautifully and resting 'pon my head. It has a familiar whisper, one of kindness and gentle nature. No, it has not left me. It'll return in the spring, as will I return to thee. 'Till then the butterflies keep me company, 'till once more I meet that same lady that presented me with the life I will forever cherish.

I've been inspecting the young bud for long now, it doesn't seem to be much other then a flower. It's crimson petals curl on the very ends, it's wing like leaves give hopes for the crystal figure it dwells upon of lifting through the air and leaving to the sky. It's roots have long twisted amongst the statue, yet it seems as healthy as it would've been in a common soil. I offer it the same water that I myself drink. This is no common treasure to show up before me. I will not treat this bud like any other plant, something in it has a vivid spirit. It will be like I, I will be equal to whatever it becomes. During the day Kukioo accompanies me in my endless gaze to the plant, taking detailed sketches of the small flower. During the night, Lee keeps me from loosing my slumber by tucking me into my sheets after long time talking to the petal, yet he remains awake to speak with the spirit of the flower. Even my newest pet, that large and clumsy chocobo, has been poking his head inside the window to nuzzle its beak against the flower, even though the herb retaliates to his kindness by expelling it's sickening aroma! It's the new hope in my house that this small flower will grow and present itself. We are all impatient in nature, all eager to meet this new mystery that the flower is. I have given it some music aswell, perhaps that'll give its soul some insentive and hope of birth. It must a lively creature to own such a vivid hue. I'm not sure if it likes the music though, it doesn't respond. I keep talking to it, yet it also seems not to answer. I hope it is well, I hope it'll live. And something in it is familiar, perhaps it is the fact that every once in a while a small butterfly floats in to greet the strange bud and kindly accompany the herb. I hope it feels some joy, I hope not to be harmful to it. Perhaps, one day it'll bloom... mayhap.

Lee has been growing worried, Kukioo seems to be somewhat suspicious aswell. Ever since the strange bud came to live upon the crystaline figure I have grown these strange dreams. I wake up in the middle of the night to stare out at the window, looking for the glimmering stars that continually grow weaker due to the smoke of our city. These dreams that awake me have been causing me restlessness. Lee says I can barely stand now, Kukioo beleives that the flower's scent is causing me these 'visions'. Even Rock, our chocobo, has been worried for me. He will insistently poke his head inside the window to inspect upon the strange plant and myself. I think... it's talking to me. A flower has no voice for its soul, but maybe it can still speak to me. I think it wants life, maybe company. I can't understand. It places me on the most peaceful and lonely grove available to imagination, but it still exhausts me. Lee managed to talk my boss into leaving me be from work for a little while, he constantly comes in my room to give me some tea or try to force me into eating something. Kukioo doesn't let me off bed, he thinks I should take better care of myself. They're so sweet. They want my health, and they're trying their best to bring Kochou to life aswell. Maybe I should just try and rest for once. Maybe then Lee can stop burning himself trying to make me tea. Rock has been taking me to my business in town. I only have a bike, and the chocobo thinks I am far to weak to use it lately. He scoops me on his back and takes me off, his rides appreciated aswell. Kukioo has been making the groceries, I've seen him so homely. We're all waiting, we'll be until we can't wait anymore. I lay on bed mostly, they won't let me up. I talk a lot to Kochou, I sing it lullabies. I hope it likes them. "We're waiting you..." I'd tell her. "You don't need to be afraid." I assure her. When I'm about to sleep I start crooning for it, maybe it just needs the love a baby does. I'm here to give this love to her, I just want her to know.

From now on I shall make a note to myself, Lee is never to be given any pots, pans, or cooking ingredients when he has a cooking book at hand. I am not saying that his cooking abilities are doubtful, his choices on what to cook however are. Unlike me, this neko pet has a liking for spices, which would explain the simply burning scent of curry that comes within the house every once in a while. And I am not taking his love for spices lightly, he must nearly drown everything inside the pot with the strong spices so to cause me a strong reaction to the unbarable taste. Kukioo has become quite a botanic now, after his intent studies on Kochou he has beleived to have made quite a few discoveries. The blathanna has been organising his findings so that he may tell us later on, explain to us what he beleives Kochou is. Rock has been quite active aswell, even though my health has very much regenerated I continue to find myself being scooped off the ground and carried 'pon the chocobo's back to the market on the streets. Ever since the day Kochou appeared within my home I have been visiting the market and finding it to be more friendly by the minute. Our newest family member, Luffy, didn't take to long to integrate in the family, nor did he take to long to feel the mysticism of Kochou. Even Airou has become attached to the bud, she refuses to sleep anywhere else if not upon the same table as the flower. In fact, it seems the porcupine like creature doesn't mind the strong scent Kochou expells at all, rather likes it instead. Apart from the presence of Kochou and the now growing joy of our small family, nothing has changed much. Nothing, but the ever growing excitement regarding the appearance of the small bud.

"Are you sure this'll work?" A voice whispered from within Anna's bedroom. To those that knew the owner and her pets, this was undoubtfully Zisran's voice. His soft, small, and rather playful tone were present in the squirrel's voice near to always.
"It's the only thing she didn't try, might aswell work." Another male voice answered, Luffy's to be precise. That Azantai was, undoubtfully, the most pranking of all Anna's pets... thus far. He had Zisran use his sharp, small claws to open a thin hole upon a sack of some sort, turning it over with his maw onto the table where Kochou rested. Out from it came a strange mixture of earth, fertilized earth to be exact. However, being far too heavy for the table, the sack dumped a few of its contents onto the table afore falling off and landing loudly upon the wooden floor of Anna's room. Luffy shivered, Zisran had already leaped out the window in fright.
"WHAT'S GOING ON OVER THERE?!" Anna's firm voice shot out, causing Luffy to tremble. Oh, he had it coming for him. Soon as she entered the room and spotted the earth all over her table and the floor, it didn't take long for the owner to come up with some sort of punishment for the fox like pet. She picked Luffy from the ground by the scurf, it was the tenth time he came up with some stupid idea to have the small flower bud grow. Opening her window to its extrimity, she tossed the pet outside and onto the tree, knowing that he didn't know how to climb down.
"Hey?!?! I was just trying to help! Get me down!!!" The fox like creature whined, seeing as Rock had positioned himself below so to have Luffy leap upon his back. Safely landing on the chocobo's back, the pet continued to grumble under his breath, coming in the house once more to plop down on the living room couch.
"I already told you not to try and interfere with its growing process..." Yet another voice spoke, this now with a strange british accent. The most intellectual of Anna's pets, Kukioo, had been nicely settled upon the living room sofa, digging within the much beloved collection book of the famed author, Edgar Allan Poe.
"Yeah, but I gotta find someway to have her grow! We only have one sister, and she's doomed to be a baby!" He stated loudly, pointing out to Airou who was nicely settled upon the table as she watched Lee cook in the kitchen. She was adorable, but couldn't talk and most acted like the family pet, a beloved pet. He mumbled once again, causing Kukioo to roll his eyes and return to his reading. It was always like this, it just seemed Luffy would like a sister of sorts, one to actually speak with.
---------
"I'll get the broom." A child spoke up, precisely a pony. Monkey, having caught the scene, noted his owner wasn't much in a happy temperament at the moment. He rushed down the hall, opening a small closet only to be sunk within a pile of bottles, brooms, and a vaccum cleaner. Guess the most unorganized area of the house was, ironicly, the cleaning cabinet. Fetching the desired broom, Monkey didn't take long to return to the room and hand it to Anna.
"Thank you, Monkey. Could you also make me a favor and fetch a plastic bag?" The owner stated with a tired smile, looking over to Monkey with a mirth that seemed overused in her eyes. Responded by a violent nod from the pony, which caused his straw hat to fall back, Anna laughed lightly and kissed the pet's forehead. "Your a dear." She complimented, causing Luffy to smile greatly and leave the room for the desired bag. Varekai had been settled on the table, brushing the soil off its crystal surface with use of his tail and clensing the figure to which Kochou had wrapped her roots around. Once he had been sure that the flower was completely clean, the feline rubbed affectionately to the bud, like an elder brother would. Responded by the flower's sickening scent, Varekai shivered and sneezed, bowing in apologies to Kochou. Anna laughed at that, picking the small kitten up and setting it upon her bed. Soothing Varekai's body for a few moments, afore he slept that is, Anna soon returned to brooming the floor, stoping every now and then to look at the crystaline figure and its flower.
"...They're all waiting for you." She whispered delicately, gazing at Kochou's rouge petals. "Luffy's gotten impatient, he REALLY to see you. We all do." She continued, knowing somehow the flower's soul could hear her. "Don't worry, it'll be fine." The owner stated with a smile, continuing her newly acquired duty. She never came to notice Monkey upon the door, bag inside his mouth, as he gazed amazed towards his owner.

Perhaps a week after Nhyoo's arrival, or maybe just a random day all in all, but Kochou grew...
"Anna!" I heard Varekai's mature voice call out. Oh dear, he had just grown and become independent, I knew that him calling me had to mean something of utter seriouness happened. I rushed up the stairs, forced open the hard door of my room, and was immediately pounced upon. The red blurr, or so it seemed, now layed upon me with what might've been a purr echoeing in its throat... that or a growl. The familiar bundle of fur looked up at me, its golden orbs reflected a soul that I simply recognized near to immediately. I beleive it knew me to, afterall it is rare to see her so quiet.
"Kochou?!" I asked amazed, answered by a mischevious chirping sound from the beast. The pet then rushed out of my arms, near to running over Zisran who had scurried over to inspect what had happened and leaping over Monkey, who even though being a horse was small enough for that.
Rushing after the creature, the entire house was a chaos for a limited amount of time. Pots and pans rang in the kitchen as Kochou ran sacked the room, vases near to crashed in the living room hadn't Lee saved them with his trained abilities of avoiding disasters, books flew in the library to land upon Kukioo who will probably run from these for a while now after such an experience. It only became quiet once the red feline creature escaped into the garden, where both my chocobos were able to stun it and Nhyoot was able to nestle upon it, thus rendering Kochou immobile.
Coming out the house with what might've been Medusa's idea of a nice haircut, I came over to Kochou and bent down. Motioning Nhyoot to lift from the feline, I picked the red beast up and hugged her like I would've done with any other of my pets. Shingi looked a little envious at that, seeing that she was the only one thus far to actually enjoy my carresses. "We're happy you're finally here, Kochou, but please don't try to cause another disaster like this." I spoke in between soft laughs, responded only by a low growl that this time was a definite purr. Settling the now calmer pet on the ground, it took but a few moments for her to meet my other pets. Luffy had been eager to finally meet her, a master of mischeif now had officialy found his partner in crime. I swear the image of that little red feline circled by other pets and laughing loudly while joking along (or about) them will never clear from my head.
