Meaning: Nurse, mother (Latin)

Age: Old enough to know better, but still young enough to be hopeful.
Height: 6'7" standing tall
Species: Polar bear/otter
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Unknown
Status: Happily a single mommy
Favorite food & drink: Fish and red berries
Likes: Swimming, mothering
Dislikes: Dangerous situations, unruly boys

Looks:
Eyes: Green
Markings: Rather the coloring of her otter ancestors, Maia is brown with dark brown points. The under belly however is a polar white much like her polar relitives.
Build: She took her size and some of her colors from her Bear relatives. Her fur is more sleek, and her overall build are more otter like however. Rather like a bear sized otter.

Personality: Hopeful, but also a worrywart. General caring and kind, the spirit of a bear lives within her, and she'll snap at a moment's notice if it seems Istas is in danger. She wants to do everything right and be the 'perfect' mother, but she's a little unexperienced and will be the first to admit to it.

Dylan - Eager energetic baby and friend for Istas. Taught Istas to play tag and spent a few days traveling with.
Diana - A trust worthy and pleasant 'young' mother. Intellegent, protective, and giving. I hope to see her again and swap some more mothering tips.

The Happy Home

User Image
The den

User Image
The inner layout

Istas and Maia's home is nestled between the icy river delta where the fishing is superb, and the temperature is always cold and stable. From the outside a simple den hole is visable in a large snow bank. Within however things are a little more exciting.

Snow slide: Right outside the den, along the slope of the snow bank an area of slickened snow and ice lies, that is used as a slide for the two.

Wind break: A build up of snow that blocks the cool wind from entering, keeps the family invisible from the outside, and shields their scent from the world.

Bedding area: Nestled in the back is a large area for the two to curl up and sleep. The ground is covered in furs, to make the snow less harsh to Istas' delicate skin.

Safety hole: A safety hole was built when Istas first arrived. Small enough for her to crawl into, but too small for Maia or other large animals to get it. It's a safety precaution in which Maia will sit up against when danger presents, making it impossible for anything to get at Istas.

Trinket hole: Istas has taken to playing in her safety hole, and has hand dug out her own special trinket hole. For holding and hiding the many little things she finds and hoards.

Drying rack: A rock for sitting fish upon sits alongside the wind break. It's in an area of constant aggitation (sun and wind) to help the drying process long.

Decor: A mobile and windchime of shells, bones, and such reside at the front enterance and the bedding area.

F.. f.. Fur? - Istas and Maia

Quote:
A soft babbling of unintelligible sounds bubbled from the toddler as she poked at the snow in front of her. Poking, poking, poking, she finally began to pat at the snow, squealing with glee as the marks disappeared and the white pallete was once again clean.

It was striking how quickly she was getting used to the cold climate, now that her baby fat and Maia's warmth had become her only form of protection.

A few yards away Maia watched the babe playing, noting the curious red glow of her tiny cheeks. Stretching her paws and arms widely before her, she lifted with a shake, nearing the little one with a soft yawn. -"We're going to go swim now, alright? You know how to swim, yes?"-

Upon receiving a clueless stare Maia laughed a little, reaching to tug gently at the girl's "fur". Nipping gently down, she lifted, a soft look of horror touching her eyes as the child's "fur" began to slip, engulfing her head as more and pale skin began to creep into sight. A startled wail escaped the child as the cold crept towards her bare skin, and as the coat freed itself completely from the child. Maia quickly dropped it looking between the pale child and the lifeless and warm coat.

Stuttering with uncertainty Maia tried to figure out the conundrum before her, only finally brought back to logic as the baby began to cry. Lifting the hairless babe up into a large paw Maia pressed her muzzle gently against her, murmuring softly for comfort.

As the cries became sniffles, and then died further to curious silence Maia explored the little one's body with her nose, before finally dragging her tongue across the little one's stomach.

"You've been tricking me all this time little one..." Settling onto her haunches, she glanced over the girl, a soft smile touching her maw. "Here I'd thought you were the same color as me, and all along you were really as white as the snow."

As the baby began to shiver, the soft blush of pink creeping along the rest of her milky white body, Maia took to the difficult task of trying to put the fur coat back onto her baby. After much tugging, frusteration, and a few irritated screeches and protests from the little girl, the coat was finally replaced. Cuddling the girl close again, Maia cooed gently, speaking in a softness that seemed impossible from something so large.. "Maybe swimming isn't a good idea today little snow angel.."

Hello to you who reads the stuff I've written. I thank you if you've even read this far because most people don't take time to do so.
In case it's not obvious I have two main characteristics.
1. I'm a devoted Christian
2. I'm as random as it comes
On top of that I'm a tomboy with a temper that will tell you the god awful truth when i know it hurts because you need to know. I love rough housing with my buddies and I'm a reader, writer, singer and dancer. I'm hyper sommetimes especially when it's cold too. Just moi!
My thing for cars is either a motorcycle or a Jeep or truck. Again: tomboy! Also I love my soccer, I'm a kickboxer who also has done Taekwondo and is taking MMA, and I also enjoy tennis, swimming and snowboarding any day! I'd tell you more but there are those creeps out there who try to track people down so i'd rather not give them too much off a head start.
Oh and also for you people out there that want an online gf in my case
Don't even think about it.
God bless and live life to its fullest!

No longer alone - Istas/Maia and Dylan/Diana

Quote:
-Maia padded along curiously, the warm weather making her travel slower then usual. She'd known the trip was going to be long on her way to visit the forest mother.. but she hadn't known that it was going to be THIS long. Or that she'd be transversing across such strange terrian. By now however she was very lost, having gone west at a point she should have gone south. But for now her mind was on the heat, and how much she wished she'd just followed the river and swam the distance.

Istas lay across Maia's large back, breaking her uncharacteristic silence suddenly with a loud wail. Usually a sweet and happy baby that babbled on nonesense, Maia had been mildly worried at the silence their trip had taken on this muggy day, but now her worries came back tenfold.

Shifting so that the toddler slid down and into her arm, Maia nosed her softly, trying to comfort her.- "Shhh shhh shhhh... What's wrong Istas? We're almost there, I promise. I'm sorry it's taking so long."

-But the crying didn't stop, Istas kicking her little feet in a tantrum of frustration. She was hot.. she was uncomfy, and yet.. she didn't know the words to say how. So instead she simply wail to the dismay of her guardian.-

After getting Dylan back into his cloths, which was easier said then done since he decided crawling around naked was quite a blast, she hefts him onto her back, flapping her wings and getting ready to take off. She stills herself as she hears a wailing noise, very much like Dylan's wail when she first heard him and she swivels her ears about, trying to catch the direction it is coming from.

Dylan tugs at Diana's fur, wanting to know what the noise was and why she was so tense, but he feels a deep rumble from her and he buries his face into her fur, as if trying to hide

Diana sets off quietly in search of the noise, trying to see what it is that is making such noise in the forest. She travels along the river, keeping her wings up to keep Dylan from view. She narrows her eyes as she spots a brown figure in the water, almost swimming her way and she backs up next to a tree, keeping an eye on the animal. She looks surprised to see a little girl on her back, and it looks like she is the one making all the noise. Diana slowly pads out towards them, still not letting Dylan come into view until she felt he would be safe

"Are you hungry again?" -Still trying to figure out the problem, Maia sighed softly, cuddling the the young one for a moment. Nipping the scruff of Istas' fluffy coat she carried the fussy little one towards the bank she spotted not far away, intent on sitting her down until she figured out just what was wrong.-

-Though Maia hadn't yet noticed the new presence, Istas tear filled eyes spotted the soft flash of colors, and with a hiccup her cries subsided to softer sniffles, curiousity getting the better of her. Hands making soft grabby motions in the demon's directions Maia called out, amidst her sniffles, the name of the only word she knew with those colors.- "B.. b... berries!"

Diana looks startled when the child looks in her direction and seems to call her some type of fruit and she isn't sure if she should feel insulted or just laugh about it.

Dylan climbs his way to peek over Diana's head and he lets out a very loud squeal to see the gigantic otter and the girl, clapping his hands playfully

Diana winces and unfolds her wings, folding her ears back from the high pitched noise

-The sight of another child, the first she'd seen since she was carried off from her home village, was enough to make her forget about being hot, and soon the air was filled with gleeful sounds. Wriggling, attempting to escape from her coat, as she did that one time back in the snow, she called out with more of her limited vocabulary. Living in the arctic really didn't help broaden one's knowledge of this and that.- "Hello Baby!"

-Maia's eyes snapped up suddenly as Istas' reaction changed. The last time she'd acted so intent on leaving she'd almost walked straight up to one of her polar cousins. And Maia wasn't going to allow that again.

The loud squeel helped her find the 'object of interest', and she cautiously looked over the vulpine creature. Settling Istas to the ground, she held a protective paw before her, letting her simply peek over.- "Hello there."

-Oh how she hoped for a friendly meeting. For Istas to finally have someone to play with of her own species, even if it was just for a short time. -

Diana slowly approachs the two, looking quite amazed she has finally met a creature that is like her. She ignores Dylan squealing and his bouncing on her back to get a better look at the two, "Hello...it's...nice to meet....someone like you..."

Dylana makes grabby hands at Maia, squealing out, "Baby, Baby" over and over, his long hair bouncing around

-Giggling Istas stood, leaning as far as she could over her 'mother's paw, waving so intently that she almost wobbled over. Echoing his words and sentiments she added a few of her own.- "Baby, Baby!! I want!"

-Offering a softly amused laugh and thrilled laugh at the excitement trying to sneak through her paws, she offered a few more words towards the vulpine, cautiousness still nagging her. It wasn't likely the winged fox would hurt Istas.. seeing she had one of her own. But if her intent WAS bad, there was no way Maia would be able to catch her.. either by land OR air.

Diana's words brought another comforted smile to Maia's maw.- "Nice to meet you as well. I was beginning to think that Istas was the only human child around there parts."

Diana finally lays her large girth down, unfolding her wings from around Dylan and one of her black tails reachs over and wraps around his waist to lift him off her back and sets him down to her side, "I didn't think humans would give up their young ones...."

Dylan stands wobbly to his feet and he tries to make a beeline for Maia, a large smile on his face, even when he falls onto his rump several times, he keeps getting back up

-Content and worries satiated Maia retracted her large paw, allowing Istas to go as she wanted, inwardly thrilled that whatever had upset her before had either been remedied or forgotten.

Settling herself to be try and be comfortable, she settled herself along the ground, letting her tip of her tail and back paws slip into the water. Atleast one part of her would be cool. Pondering the statement she realized that the fox must be as inexperienced as she would.. but perhaps they could learn a little from each other. That was part of the reason she was heading off towards the forest mother's. To learn.-

"If I recall correctly from the stories I've heard, that the human children are orphans. I don't know how they get out into the wilderness if they don't have parents.. but I remember an old timber wolf telling me about it back when I was little."

-For a moment Istas stayed still, watching as the boy moved towards her, a happy grin on her face, before finally she pushed herself to her feet, taking a few slow and wobbly steps to meet him half way.-

A few of Diana's black tails swirl around behind her, watching the two children make their way towards each other, but she looks up at Maia, a little frustrated, "I can only assume Dylan's parents are gone...and he was left alone near the forest edge when I found him." She shakes her head, "Humans...I will never understand them and their ways...."

Dylan keeps making his way, his hands outstretched toward Ista, golden pendant glinting

-When finally they were close enough to actually touch, Istas reached out, almost falling onto him as she offered a sloppy sort of hug, calling out in a soft sing-song.- "Loooooooove"

-It was the way she greeted Maia, and apparently, it was going to be the way she greeted others it seemed.-

-Maia pondered a little.. she'd not really put much thought into the whole situation before.. she'd been so enthralled and busy with Istas that it hadn't crossed her mind to think why she was there. She simply knew that she had to take care of her, babies couldn't survive out in the icey winds without a mother.

Nodding a little softly though, she offered a soft smile.- "Well, at the very least there are kind animals out here who will take care of them."

"How long have you been looking after him?"

"Not long actually, I found him only a day ago. He is quite lively and I do love that about him!" She giggles as Ista finally hugs Dylan and her eyes grow sad, "But I am scared I won't be able to take care of him properly...not the way he needs to be taken care of" she admits

Dylan squeals happily and he hugs her back. He pulls back and tugs at her coat, "Soft!!! Diana fly!!" he states loudly

-Giggling some at his statement she nodded a bit, agreeing.- "Soft!"

-Glancing curiously back at Maia for a moment, she plopped onto the ground before him, looking up as she babbled some more.- "Fl..ly? Fly! Fish!"

-Noticing his own lack of fluffy coat suddenly, she asked softly.- "Fur?"

-She nodded sympathetically, knowing those emotions oh so well herself.- "That same thing has been worrying me as well.. that's why we're here actually. I wanted to speak to the Forest Mother. I thought she'd be able to help."

"I've had Istas for awhile now.. a week or two before we began to travel.. and I'd say we've been traveling atleast that long as well."

"Fur?" Dylan tilts his head. He then looks back to Diana and squeals out, "Soft!!!" and he claps, falling down onto his rump

Diana looks to Maia, blinking a few times, "The Forest Mother....I have never heard of her. Do you think she would be able to help me? I can't keep feeding Dylan nothing but fruit and I need to know how to cook him meat so he can grow strong and healthy." she looks down at her charge again

"Oh you haven't?" -Her surprise was obvious. She thought EVERYONE knew the Forest Mother.. The one that looked over the forest and made sure everyone was happy and safe.- "Well yes! She should be able. She's a human actually. But a very nice one, that watches over the forest."

"So I figured she must know alot about human babies. I need to talk to her as well, I'm always so worried about things. Like what to feed her when she gets fussy about the fish. Or why her fur comes off."

-Making a soft sound of contentment as he ended up on the ground with her, she reached out lightly patting her hand against Dylan's foot.- "Play?"

Diana tilts her head, "No...I have never heard of her....maybe she can help me! I have been taught about humans, but I have never dealt with them before. Do you know where she supposed to be? Maybe we can go together?" she asks, hoping to have some type of other companionship for a little while, besides Dylan

"Play play!!" Dylan says excited, and he stands up wobbly, a tiny memory coming to him about older kids running around and yelling "it" when they touched each other. He wobbles to her and taps Ista's forhead yelling "IT!"

"She lives somewhere in the center.. where all the borders touch. I suppose if we can find the border between the forests and the arctic we can follow it down until we find her?" -She offered lightly, still a little unsure about the plan, after all, she's missed it the first time around, and treked into the jungle. Another wide smile touching her maw she looked from the delighted children back to the fox, nodding.- "I think it'd be nice to have company actually! Would you two be ready to leave though come tommorow?"

-Istas looked confused at the action, thought her smile never faded. Not certain what to do, she watched him and after a long moment, she repeated the action, reaching forward towards him to try and tag him.- "It?"

Diana nods as she chuckles at the two children again before looking back to Maia, "That sounds like a good idea, we can leave in the morning after the two get something to eat. There is always fresh fruit growing along the banks of the river, and my home isn't too far from here either." Diana sits up to scratch at an itch behind her ear

Of course Dylan can't explain the concept of the game tag, but he squeals when she taps him and says 'it'. He leans forward and taps her again, yelling "IT!". He walks away woobly, trying to keep his balance before turning back to Ista and yelling, "It! again, pointing at her to say she is it now

-Maia on the otherhand knew the game, having seen young otters play it as they streaked through the streams, but before she could offer explination Istas was up and slowly but surely heading after Dylan.

Turning back to her fellow guardian, she nodded in soft agreement.- "Thought sounds good to me. A night to sleep and rest and a full belly before we head off. Istas really seems to enjoy sweet fruits, I've come to notice."

-She followed after as fast as she could manage on young legs, hands making those familar grabbing hands at him, a giggle rippling through her.- "It! It!"

Diana nods, "Yes, there are many you can choose for her, but some that I would caution against, especially in certain trees. The monkies around here can be quite territorial and I don't want Dylan or your child caught in the crossfire if we pick the wrong tree in the morning." she states, watching the two play their game and wishing she could have played with the other demon children in this manner too. But at her first attempt, they made fun of her, throwing things at her and calling her a freak. She never strayed from her mothers side again after that day.

Dylan waves his arms about, bouncing his is place as he laughs happily, looking like he wants to fly. He woobles around and falls right on his rump, still laughing and waving his arms about

-His falling gave Istas enough time to catch up with him, and she soon repeated his motion again, tapping down on his head, as she yelped 'IT!'. But she didn't run away as he did, instead thinking his new game looked fun, she began to imitate his arm flapping/waving.-

-She nodded softly with the information. You never really had to worry about the fish back where they lived.. but on occassion another bear or large wolf might be around fishing as well, so she was used to keeping her guard.- "We'll have to be cautious then. But having two to look out should make things alot easier, ecspecially if the little ones stick together.. as opposed to Istas always trying to wander off and see things."

"She's such a curious little dear. I swear one day she'll kill me with worry."

Diana chuckles as she lays herself down again, "Dylan hasn't been too much of a problem now, but he is quite loud when wants to be and with his constant moving around, he will be walking on his own alot sooner then I hope for." she smiles, her fangs glinting a bit and her tails twirl about behind her. "And I am sure we can find some fish for you as well, the fish here can get quite big in the river and then we can search for this Forest Mother."

Dylan stands up and flaps his arms, "Fly, fly!!" he repeats, quickly forgetting his game and he looks to Diana, "Diana fly!!"

"And if we do find her, maybe we can find something for them to keep them entertained, like a toy or something." she chuckles at the antics of her kit

"Fly fly!" -She mocked with a happy giggle, not knowing what it meant, but enjoying the game reguardless. Her actions were beginning to slow however, having begun to tucker herself out with all the activity of this eventful day. It'd be nap time soon enough.-

-She nodded softly at the mention of food. She was a very large animal, and from both sides of her 'bloodline' the sort of animal that needed to eat many times a day just to keep herself going. So she'd probably go fishing tonight.. and then again in the morning.- "Perhaps the Forest Mother will have some toys and ideas to keep the children a little more stationary.. Though.. cubs and litters don't really stay stationary either. So maybe I'm hoping a bit too much." -She laughed a little softly with the thought.-

Dylan continues to flap his arms about, but soon slows down, reaching a hand up to rub at his eyes as he yawns, not having worn himself like this in a while

Diana nods, she would probably hunt that night as well once she felt Dylan was safe enough to be left alone for a little while and she could take down some game big enough to satisfy her for a few days, "Well, you are welcome to stay at my den, it's not too far from the river and not many animals venture into my territory, except for birds and small animals."

-She nodded gratefully for the offer, feeling deep down as relieved to finally meet someone else like her, as she was to find Istas a companion for awhile. Lifting herself from the ground, she stepped a few steps closer to the children, watching as Istas turned her her.-

"Slee time?" -She hadn't learned to pronounce the p yet, but was readily agreeing immediately. Reaching over she tugged on Dylan's sleeve lightly as if telling him to follow.- "Time for slee!" -Before she toddled over to Maia, letting herself be taken up and settled upon Maia's broad and soft back.-

Diana smiles and stands up slowly padding over to Dylan, leaning her head down to nuzzle him gently, "Looks like it's time a nap kit..." she whispers, moving so she can wrap one of her tails around him and lay him on her back, folding her wings up so he can't roll off

Dylan scrunchs up his face, trying to fight off the wave of drowsiness, but he sighs a bit when Diana picks him up and he snuggles into her red fur, clutching at it

-Making sure that the young one was firmly snuggled against her back, she made her way alongside the fox, nodding silently to let her know that she was ready to follow as soon as she was ready. Truth be told it was an exciting and eventful day for her as well.. she'd probably sleep just as well as Istas once the sun sank.-

Diana gestures for Maia to follow after her, "My den is not too far from the river, so we shouldn't have to travel to long." she turns to walk down along the river, keeping an eye out for the large tree that rises over the canopy

"Your den will be alright while we travel, yes? It's possible we could be gone for a couple weeks, depending on how far we are from the touching borders." -In the arctic there was very little claimage of land, most just slept wherever they could find an outcropping or nice bit of snow to wallow under and keep the wind away. Moving along after the fish made that kind of life neccesary from time to time. She glanced around curiously at the warm forest as she followed, wondering wistfully how different life was in a place like this.-

"No worries, I have my own precautions from my den being taken away, and it is easy enough to gain back my territory when me and my kit come back. she says, seeing the large top of her tree on the other side of the river. Making sure Dylan is secure, she flaps her wings, crouching down to lift herself off the ground and fly to the other side of the river. Once she lands, she folds her wings back up, glad to see that all the moving still didn't wake Dylan from his nap. Seeing Maia still following, she ventures into the forest, only having to travel a few yards before coming into the clearing where her tree rests and she pads toward entrance, tails flicking about behind her

Thought diary 2
It seems Maia has picked up a habit of grabbing everything. Ever since we left the snow regions, she's taken to grabbing just about everything she can get her hands on. Grey rocks.. red rocks.. blue feathers, green leaves, tiny bones (I think from a mouse). Anything she can get her hands on she gives to me.. and expects me to carry it along with us.

We left behind the blue feather in fact.. and when she realized she began to wail.. and wouldn't stop until we went back and found it again. Oh well.. atleast it's kept her entertained.

The trip towards the Forest Mother has been quite an eventful one after all! Though I do believe I got lost, we found something very important.. another child like Istas.

Even though we live so far from each other, I hope that as they grow the two will continue to be friends. I know what it's like to not have friends of your own species, and I want better for my little one.

Dylan is quite the little boy, and Istas really seemed to take to him. They played on and on like young pups until they were both so tired they nearly fell asleep right then and there. It brought such a happy feeling to me. I can't even begin to explain.

It very nice.. to have a friend myself also. Dylan's mother, Diana is a new mother as well, having only adopted Dylan a few days prior. Both so inexperienced, but it's still comforting, I'm sure together we'll learn alot faster. Diana is quite the interesting animal as well.. a fox.. and a bird of some kind?

In the morning we'll be heading out together for the Forest Mother. I'm quite excited really, and very glad we got lost along the way. Heres to hoping that our journey together however, will be a little more on course.

Questions, questions - Istas/Maia, Dylan/Diana, and Forest mother

Quote:
-Maia's guesstimate had been correct, and after nearly 4 days of travel along the borders of the warm forests and cool snow plains there goal had come into sight. It'd been a pleasant trip, made even better by the fact of company not only for herself, but for the precious babe that had made the trip on her back. The two had gotten along so well, that Maia herself was even beginning to regret the idea and reality that would come when the two split their way to go home. But she hoped.. deep down inside, that perhaps someday the children would get to meet again.

As much love as she could spill upon Istas, she could still never be as similar.. or as familar to her as young Dylan seemed to be. But those thoughts had filtered away as they neared their goal, and Maia paused softly, turning to her new friends, her excitement tainted with a bit of fear.- "It seems we've made it finally.. Are you ready?"

Diana has padded up behind her, for the first time in her life having enjoyed travelling, especially having such good company and giving a reason for the children to distract one another when they were rambunctious. Her ears flicker foward as she adjusts her wings on her back, feeling Dylan stir from his nap.

She looks over to Maia and smiles, nodding, "Yes, it seems to be we have finally reached our destination. she says in a soft voice, stopping beside her otter/bear friend

The village didnt... look much like a village at all. It looked more like a giant court yard, stones lay on the ground giving it a elegent appeal. The village looked as if it was built to make room for more homes... but for now there was only one, the forest mothers.

Placed directly in the center her home was small, and guaint. Just large enough for her. To its side was a second home, that was more of a Hospital for injured creatures. Behind her home there was a small garden where herbs and various vegitables and fruits grew.

Outside of the hospital was the Forest Mother, inside her arms a small rabbit sat. It was nibbling hungerly on a carrot that was more then likely grown in her small garden. She didnt realize there where others present, or.. didnt she?

-Maia made her way timidly foward, a strange sight really for someone so big and so formidable.. but ever since Istas had landed within her paws she'd developed a bizarre fear. And despite her want and need to see the women she'd heard so much about, she worried that the child she'd grown so attached to would be snatched from her.

Taking the lead she put on a bit of a brave front, making her way along the stone laden path, but it was Istas that first noticed the Forest Mother's pressence, a happy bubbling of young and unitelligeble noises escaping from her.

Following the babies forceful wiggles and grabbing hands she spotted the women.. calling out softly after a moment- "H... Hello? Forest Mother?"

Diana pads behind her friend silently, ears folded back and then shotting forward again when she spots the human woman. She starts to feel nervous, always having heard of humans, but never having been around them, Dylan being the first she had interacted with. She folds her wings down a bit when she feels her kit sit up and then grab at her fur to look over her head

Dylan yawns and rubs at his eyes, leaning against Diana's large head as he looks around. He spots the lady and immediately wakes up, pointing at her and saying loudly, "Lady, lady!!!. He bounces a bit on Diana's back

Her emerald eyes stared down at the rabbit for a bit longer. After it finished its meal she smiled and lowered it onto the ground, where it scampered off into the direction of the under-brush.

"Why hello there." She said before she even turned around to face them, it was almost as if she knew they where there.

" I see you two have found your own little munchkins. She laughed softly standing up to face them. "So, why have you both graced me with your presence?" Leaning back over she picked up a basket full of vegitables that lay on the ground.

-Her ears twitched softly at Dylan's outburst, waiting for the expected replication from her own little one, which so came followed by a few happy claps of cubby little hands as the Forest Mother turned to address them.

Pushing past her awe, she offered the best smile she could manage, digging for a reply.- "Well.. we're sorry to bother you.. if you're busy and all."

"We just had a few questions about the children. I thought that being a human.. you might know?"

Diana sighs at her kits energy, wondering how human children can be so hyper with so little sleep. She sits down and slides Dylan off her back with one of her tails and plops him between her front paws, her wings flapping up and then folding back, looking down to the human woman

Dylan continues to bounce and point at the lady, adding in some claps as he continues to call at her

"Mm... i see you got some hyper ones." She said indicating towards the eagerness of the children.

Placing the basket of vegitables on the window-cill she dropped her gaze back towards the otter-bear and the fox-phoenix. "Oh? Sure what would you like to know. I'de be happyto help anywhere i can." Indeed the forest mother looked to be human, but.. was she? How did she get into the forest.. and get the title "Forest mother?" And or if she was indeed one with the forest, how did she get her apearance? Well that didnt matter, she still had the knowledge of the humans.

-Maia shifted softly, letting the child slide slowly down her back. The Forest Mother's words were soft and soothing despite it all, and soon Maia was more ataken by her questions then the fear that'd settled upon her earlier. And she let them spill like water from her mouth.- "Well... for some reason Istas fur seems to be able to come off and on? Is something wrong with her? And sometimes she cries and fusses and refuses to eat the fish I give her.. I was beginning to worry that she may be sick?"

-Istas settled her feet on the ground, hands grabbing at Maia's fur to help her stand as she half walked, half wobbled forward, crying out indignantly when a massive paw stopped her from moving any further forward. Making sounds of soft protest she continued on wiggling and grabbing for a few long moment, before finally falling silent, looking between the woman and the bear/otter as they spoke.-

Diana watchs her intently, trying to gauge if she was sincere or not. A calming effect seems to wash over her, something she hadn't felt since her mother died. She still keeps Dylan close, not wanting to jump the gun yet, "And I need a way to cook meat for Dylan, so he doesn't grow sick off fruit and raw meat." she says softly, a few of her black tails swinging about behind her

Dylan calms down a bit when it looks like Diana isn't going to let him go see the lady just yet. He slides down and plops on his rump, sucking on his thumb as he clutchs at the fur on her leg

The female couldnt help but snort, and give a slight chuckle. Her voice that followed, was kind. "Well you see... the fur that she's covered in isnt hers. More or less it was given to her. See.." She said, pointing to her own arm. "This is the skin that humans have. No fur, just... bare with small hairs. The fur she has on was from another animal... proberbly given to her from her previous tribe. Its to keep her frajile body warm. So thats nothing to worry about with it comming on and off."

"I can answer both those questions at once. First ill start with her not eating. See, unlike you two... she cant eat raw meat. It has to be cooked and or dried out. Before she came here she was fed those types, not raw meats." Looking back towards the Fox-phoenix she also quoted. "Well, fire around here would be devistating... and a danger to the forest. So all i can say is take the meat and lay it out on a surface where it gets direct sunlight. This will cause it to dry out, and cook indirectly. Though it will take a few days so for now ide say a diet of fruits is in order. Feel free to raid my garden as well whenever need be. I tend to have a over-growth of produce back there anyways." She added with a laugh.

-A sheepish look touched her expression, and she did her best to laugh in return in at her mistakes. It made sense though really.. how easily it'd come off and on.. how hot and uncomfortable the child had gotten in the jungle. It brought about another important question however, and she asked it softly, thoughtfully.- "Where does one borrow fur from? Already she seems to grow with everyday.. if the fur does not grow around her, as it does with an animal.. then I fear before too long she won't have anything to protect her from the snow."

Diana decides to lay down and she feels safe enough with the human women to let Dylan make his way to her. She lifts her head up as she thinks up another question, "And is there anyway I can keep him entertained? Like something he can play with when I must go hunt?" she asks

Dylan seeing his passage wasn't bared anymore, stands up on wobbly legs and makes his way to the lady, making grabby hands at her as he makes his slow, but steady pace, sometimes falling on his rump, but always getting up

"Well, thats where you and i make a duel effort together. When she outgrows it, bring me the furs from your huntings... and ill make them into another coat for her." The Forest Mother claimed, Kneeling down to greet the small one that came near her. "Hello there cuutiiee~"

"As for something to play with... kids tend to be ammused really easily. So maybe some sort of vine, or flower."

-As Maia's paw lifted Istas quickly followed after her new 'best friend', calling out softly.- "Dy'an!" -As she noticed his attention to the forest mother a soft huff touched her young face, pout hiding behind brown locks. However she made her way further, looking up at the lady softly a few feet behind.-

"It's not too much trouble for you?" -Maia was thankful obviously, her smile seeming to grow further as she thought what awaited Maia, her worries beginning to drip away. Drying out the fish wouldn't be hard really in the dry and cold arctic.. and now that she knew about the 'fur'.. well things seemed peachy, wonderful.

But then something else hit her, watching Istas make her way after the two 'humans'.- "Are there many other children? As of yet I've seen only Dylan and Diana.. "

Diana looks like she is contemplating something, fire being not problem for her really, but deciding not to bring up that touchy subject. And finding something for Dylan to play with if she was away was easy enough, there were plenty of things in the forest he could play with. She looks up when Maia asks about other humans and she nods, wondering if there were others like them maybe, with human childs.

Dylan squeals happily as he hugs at the lady, babbling a little bit as he bounces in place

She reached down and stroked the top of the childs head, his hair moving freely out of her hand. She gave a nod to Maia to confirm that she would make the garbs. "That goes for both of you." Indicating also towards Diana.

"There are many, spread out through the forests and plains... the tundra and the swamp. Finding them is the key factor. Lately there seem to be more Orphens, maybe theres a war raging on the outsides. Humans in the outside territories are always fighting for supremicy.

-It wasn't he most exact answer she could hope for.. but it certainly filled her with hope. Once Istas was better at walking perhaps? Maybe then they could travel and look for others. She nodded thankfully nonetheless.- "Why is it.. that the other humans do not take in the children?" -She'd seen it was animals before on many occassion.-

"It can't be because the kits aren't like them, nothing is wrong with Dylan or Istas, both are perfectly healthy." she says in a somewhat irritated voice, knowing all about others not wanting you for what you were. She looks away, her ears folding back as she tries to block out those bad memories of her life in the demon realm

"It isnt more or less they dont WANT to... but its considered a evil omen for one of their kin to become a Orphen. So instead they... toss them in here." She didnt mention to part of the legend of the people thinking Beasts ate the children, that was better left unsaid.

-Another angry, but silent pout was thrown in Dylan's direction, but soon her curiousity grew and she toddled a few steps closer, groping at the Forest Mother's leg.- "No fur!" -Grinning pleased with herself she looked upwards through messy locks, trying to gain her attention instead.-

-Maia's mind had already turned back towards home however, thinking about the fate of the child's parents. And if it was the sort of thing to tell a child, when she was old enough to understand it? Gaze falling upon her young one, her questions were finally silented, and she nodded, offering another thankful smile.- "Thank you for your kindness. I think we might hang around the area for another day or two before we head back. It's a long journey, and I'm sure the quick temperature change is just as uncomfortable for her, as it was for me."

Diana nodded, and she feels a pang of sadness when Maia mentions that they will have to head home. She had finally gained her first friend and she had to leave, but she understood that she would have to head home to where she was more comfortable then staying in the jungle. Her tails flick about as she wonders if they would go visit with them one day, maybe when Dylan was a bit older and better on his feet.

Dylan looks down to Istas and he smiles and squeals, making grabby hands at her.
