You try to stumble through the woods, but your night vision is faulty. You manage to trip and fall, landing on the Welcome mat of a hidden cottage at the foot of an ancient, crumbling cemetery. You pick yourself up, using the wall of the cottage to support yourself, dust off your clothes, and enter.

"You'd like to perform some Resurrection, would you now?" A low whisper permeates through the darkness.

"Yes," you reply. Of course you'd like to perform some Resurrection. Why else would you be here? You try to sound like you know what you're doing.

"As long as you know what you're in for. Sign this release form and I'll guide you through the process. Oh, and read this."

You find a book floor, turn on your flashlight, point it at the book, and read:

After years of meticulous work, a new process of Resurrection has been perfected in this very cottage. Unfortunately, further details about the process will not be revealed. After performing the Resurrection, you will be presented with your own Undead, whom you may use as a helper or companion at your own discretion. Aside from immortality, the Undead usually have no unique powers. Beware, some Undead may remember little of the living, and it is your responsibility to acclimate them once again to the living world.

You turn the page to find a section entitled News and Updates:

STAGES OF RESURRECTION

1. Tombstone: This is the inactive stage, although you may talk to the tombstone. The body inside is dead and rotting, and its ghost is trapped inside.

Intermediate Stage: You receive a Magical Milkshake (made from milk, vanilla, and rare herbs), which is placed next to the tombstone. The Milkshake attracts the ghost, which becomes disattached from the buried body.

2. Ghost: It floats around for a while. The colors and patterns of the Ghost vary. While you can RP with the ghost, note that it doesn't turn into the Undead. Read on to find out what really happens...

Intermediate Stage: You receive a Magical Bubble Tea (made from tapioca, fox liver, and rare herbs), which is placed next to the tombstone. The Tea attracts the Undead, which rises from the grave.

3. Undead: The fully active final stage. No two undead will ever be alike. The sample Undead shown below is of the Zombie variety, and even then all zombies will be different. Others might turn out to be Vampires or Demons. You should definitely read the GENERAL INFORMATION section to find out more about this.

GENERAL INFORMATION

How custom and how unique are they? Is there a way to get a fully custom Undead?
The Ghost stage varies in color, but otherwise the Ghost and Tomb stages aren't meant to be custom. Nonetheless, there might be minor alterations in these stages, like a thought bubble for the Ghost and vines growing over the Tomb. The final stage is not custom either, unless you buy an Undead in an auction. However, the Undead will be based on the Background Note you provide (see Resurrection Instructions), and no two will be completely alike.

Undeads are available in several varieties:
  • Zombies: These won't necessarily look like the zombie undead in the Stages post. The defining characteristic of the zombie undead is the greenish skin and stiches. Zombies are generally passive and easily manipulated if they are fed at regular intervals of thirty minutes. They do not remember their previous life.
  • Vampires: These have various personalities derived largely from their previous life, which they remember well. The defining characteristics include pale skin and under-eye circles.
  • Demons: shhh! these haven't been introduced yet!

How much RPing do Undeads require?
It's mostly up to you. A bit of RP is required, but it really isn't time consuming -- read the Resurrection Instructions to find out more about what is required. Otherwise, it's up to you. There are no RP-specific items available for purchase aside from companions, nor are there rewards for RPing. Likewise, if you choose to have a journal for your Undead, you must make it yourself.

If you do choose to RP, the Background Note should be your guide. If your undead is a zombie, though, remember that it doesn't remember its previous life, nor does it have much in the way of a brain.

These aren't realistic!
No, they aren't.

How do I purchase purchase an Undead?
  • Flatsales. There is no prompt. You must provide a Background Note (see Resurrection Instructions) and send the trade. I'll send you the Undead once the trade has been confirmed.
  • Auctions for the custom Undead and limited edition Undead

Are they breedable?
No. But they're changeable.

Do I get to pick what kind of Undead I get?
It depends, and you'll have to see what kind of flatsale/auction you're buying the Undead from. If you get to pick the kind of the Undead, it'll be more expensive.

All Undead are JPEG files, although if you'd rather have a GIF image, let me know.

RESURRECTION INSTRUCTIONS

1. The Background Note: You must create one, and it must include...
  • the name of your Undead
  • life story narrated in 2+ reasonably literate sentences

The Background Note will influence the way your Undead will look -- at the very least it will specify the gender of the Undead.

2. Direct-link your undead, otherwise it won't change.

2. When you see the Magic Milkshake or Magic Bubble Tea appear on the certificate, you must come back to this thread and RP-place it next to the tomb (in any RP style you want). This is required, because without it you won't be able to reach the third stage.

3. From this point on, you may RP as little or as much as you want.
