"The way will not be easy. As a Mystivian, you must face your worst fears, work your way through at least five Ranks, earn your Weapon, and collect magical Items, all the while attempting to stay alive. The Omens are not known for their patience."
Quote:
Okay, so here's the basic idea. The country of Magia was a frightful country, due to a race of magical mishaps called the Omens. The things had no mind, no conscience, and existed only to destroy. They did not eat, therefore didn't need to hunt for food, they only destroyed for no apparent reason. The Omens came in different Ranks, with different powers and different weaknesses, but they were all dangerous, each having the ability to inflict its own curse, some of which were deadly. The people of Magia lived a life of horror and fear, never knowing when these undefeatable Omens would decide to "have fun" with their town or family. It was a dark time.
Then a man named Menelaus discovered how to destroy the terrors. Using his knowledge and his vast store of magic, he founded and led a dojo, known then as the Mystivian Order. There, he trained people of all ages and races in the art of Mystivia, or the act of chanelling another's magical powers into weapons that could be used for combat. Anyone who learned this style of self-defense was known as a Mystivian (plural as well, in case you were wondering, is Mystivian, not Mystivia), or the People of Mystiva.
Magia flourished. The Mystivian worked as a sort of secret police against the Omens, always ready to be called upon in a time of need. Together, they were able to drive back the Omens, until they should reform themselves and come again.
Menelaus was known as the Bearer of the Magic, as it was only with his magic that the Mystivian were able to combat the Omens. Menelaus appointed the strongest and most trustworthy of his dojo as the Masters, among them a woman named Mystan and another named Aricia, whose gift was in the power of her mind.
Menelaus grew old. There began to be a debate over which of the Masters should take his place. If they were all equal, how was he supposed to choose? Aricia believed that she should be the Bearer's 2nd, as she was considered the most powerful of the Masters. Mnay, most of which were her own apprentices, agreed.
But Menelaus chose Mystan, a social outcast, to be the his Heir.
Aricia was enraged. Many of the Mystivian supported Menelaus's decision, but some believed that Aricia should have been chosen. Eventually, though Menelaus tried everything in his power to prevent it, the Order was split in two.
The two sides were soon filled with hatred for each other, and before long a full-fledged war broke out. The Battle of the Masters was short and bloody. Menelaus was killed in the fight, defending his chosen 2nd. It went downhill from there. Eventually, Mystan was victorious (huh, who'da thunk Menelaus would've been right?).
Fearing for her life, Mystan fled to the neighboring cotinent, to the country of Armancia, taking the twelve who were still true to her, and the tiny son of her two most dedicated apprentices. There, she attempted to rebuild the destroyed Order, but the King would not allow her.
Aricia abandoned Magia. Nothing has been heard of her or her few followers since.
The continent of Magia once again slipped back into oblivion and fear. Without the Order to protect them, they lived in darkness. The Omens once again terrorized the people, until there was no one left. Magia became an entire ghost country. Then, their victims gone, the Omens turned toward the seas...
The Fall of Traith was a mystery to all. One night the peaceful town slept peacefully, the next, the mayor had disappeared. It was only days after that that the town was utterly destroyed.
King Restrent, finally believing that the Omens could bring harm to his people, called upon Mystan, granting her permission to set up a dojo in his country.
And so they rebuilt. Mystan had indeed inherited the great powers of her Master, and she put them to use, building the small town, and then a small castle, in only a few short months. She called this new dojo JanniHarrii.

"Obey. You don't want us as your enemies, as well."
Rules.....Xennik
1: At least try to roleplay correctly. If you can't roleplay, then try to post correctly, at the least. What I mean is; don't substitute "2" for "to"/"two", "U" for "you", "R" for "are"/"our". I mean, come on. Is it really so hard to type two extra letters? Beware. Break this rule and Progolo will make you very sorry.
2: No powerplaying. This means you.
3: Respect your fellow Gaians. Do I really have to explain this one? Honestly. There is no need to flame anyone. If someone is breaking the rules, please PM me (Or one of the other Masters) and we will take care of them. Thank you.
4: No Swearing. Period. Just trust me on this one. You don't want Progolo to lecture you. If you believe you MUST swear, please at least cover it up with ------- or BEEEEEP!! or *****, or just swear in chatspeak, but NO foul language will be prohibited, whatsoever. Not even in character.
5: No Killing Other Members. You may not, I repeat, you may NOT kill anyone in this guild. Sparring is allowed (Amongst the Minor Mystivia and up) but killing is strictly forbidden. You are here to fight the Omens that the Masters will randomly throw at you, not each other. If you kill anyone then you will be banned from this guild. Note: You can kill monsters. And trees, if you must. Just not anyone else.
6: NO Racism. Surprisingly enough, we are all equal human beings here. I will not allow racist (or sexist, for that matter) remarks in this guild, UNLESS YOU ARE IN CHARACTER. You will only get two warnings on this one before you are banned.
7: Follow all rules. Or suffer the consequences.
8: You are allowed to roleplay other characters. As long as they are your own creation. If you happen to have a breedable, or especially a made-up pet, you are allowed to roleplay with it in this guild, if you have permission from the maker of the pet, and as long as your companion isn't all-mighty powerful. No gods, no deities. Cats are fine. Gods of the forgotten, or whatever, are not. You can have a humaniod pet with you, so long as they don't break any of the other rules, and so long as, once again, you have permission to use them. It would probably be easier to just make up a companion of your own.
9: Show Proper Ettiquette. You're in someone else's land. Act like it. Be polite when it's needed of you. Also, any Out Of Character rude remarks will get you sent to the blacklist.
10: NO Badguys. I mean this. This guild already has badguys, thank you very much. No, you cannot be the badguy, or roleplay your own badguy (Yes, you MAY roleplay that someone is bugging/attacking your character(s), but he may not attack anyone else on a whim, just to prove how wicked he is. Thank you.). This guild isn't a soap opera about your character. Be fair, alright? We all want center stage every now and then.
11: No Deities/Angels. This is not going to turn into one of those Underworld versus Heaven things. Winged people = yes. Angels = no. Note that Demons are allowed, but only by my definition: A demon is a person with a demon tail, perhaps wings, pehaps horns, perhaps scary eyes. Just trust me on this one. I WILL NOT accept you if you are a demon by any other description. No one is naturally evil. I was going to put very strict rules on race, but was talked out of it. Don't make me change my mind.

"Do you have what it takes?"
Quote:
Prisoner
Hardly something to celebrate. The Prisoner is the lowest Rank of all. You have broken the law and are in serious trouble. Not even your Master (if you had one) is on your side. You have no priveleges, and cannot leave your cell.
Guest
Everyone that joins starts as a guest. A guest has no weapons, no items, and no power. They do what they are told or they get kicked out, plain and simple. Though you can't receive a weapon at this rank, you can still receive items. During this stage, you must prove to us that you can roleplay. After a while, If we find that your RPing skills have improved, or are already good, a Master will apprentice you.
Note: if you do not post well, you will not Rank Up. And you can only be "Ranked Up" by Xennik. Also, you can not be ranked up, or receive any items or a weapon if you are on the Blacklist. But don't worry, there is a big difference between "Xennik's Black Book", and the Blacklist.
Apprentice
When a Master Mystivian apprentices you, you will recieve your weapon. At this phase, it will not be anything fancy, just a plain and simple whatever-it-is, with limited magical abilities, if any. Now that you have a weapon, you will need to practice using it. That is your job as an apprentice, learning to spar, or fight, with your weapon. Remember: the weapon you will receive will be chosen according to the way you act as a Guest. It can be anything. Also keep in mind that Mystivian DO NOT fight humans. They don't even fight anything that thinks. They fight Omens, and that is all.
Questor
Once you are fairly good at sparring and using your weapon, your Master will give you a quest, thus making you become a Questor. When you become a Questor, Xennik will set up a new thread in the guild. Here, only your Master, you, Xennik, and myself can post. In the thread, your Master, whomever it may be, will guide you through your quest by explaining the scenery and roleplaying as Omens that you may have to defeat. The thread will usually be entitled "<Insert name>'s Quest for the <Insert Item>" or "<insert name's> Quest to Save <inser furrie's name here>". Once you have completed your quest by either retreiving the item or saving a Furrie, Master Xennik will appear and upgrade your item and Rank you up to the next Rank. This is where your weapon will get its biggest upgrade.
Minor Mystivian
Welcome, officially, to the Ranks of the Mystivia. You are now one of the Big Guys (or Gals). Though you still don't have much of a say in what goes on, you will be included in a lot more Events.
Medion Mystivian
You are now steadilly working your way towards Majiika Mystivian and the authority and power that comes from this rank. You have a very good control of your powers, now, and are a fairly good fighter.
High Mystivian
You are now an authority figure. Though you can't exactly go bossing everyone around, your vote and word counts. You may stand as the authority in some cases, but a Majiika Mystivian can still over-ride you.
Majiika Mystivian
You are POWERFUL. Few will ever reach this rank. You must be extremely dedicated to have come this high. You will be granted the privilege to travel in small groups, or even alone, to help battle off Omens in neighboring lands. You have a high say in what goes on in the castle, and can punish anyone below your rank, as long as you can prove them punishable. You are also allowed almost anywhere in the castle that is off-limits to other ranks. The only places that you are strictly not allowed to go is into the Masters' towers, unless invited. No one but the Masters have the power and authority to boss you around. But beware, for, having such a high rank, you are often a target, and your life can be easilly filled with danger. Be careful not to abuse your powers, either. There is a such thing as being de-ranked by the Bearer.
Master Mystivian
The Masters are in charge, to put it plainly and neatly. They have the ability to take on apprentices, punish anyone but the Bearer, and go wherever they want to go. Few, if any, will be allowed to rise to such a high rank.
Please keep in mind that being apprenticed by a Master does NOT mean that they are going to teach you. They are strictly your representative, almost like your lawyer or guardian. If you ever go to court while staying in JanniHarrii as anything above a Guest, your Master will go with you to court and defend you. Also, if you get into trouble in JanniHarrii that is not punishable by law, then it is up to your Master to deal with you. As an apprentice, you have to study the use of your weapon on your own, or with the assistance of a Furrie or Majiika Mystivian. The Masters ARE NOT TEACHERS. However, if you need their help, then, of course, they'll help you, but they can't put everything aside to do so. They are busy people, you know.
Bearer's 2nd
The Bearer's 2nd is considered a Master. He/she has all of the powers and responsibilities of a regular Master. The only reason that he/she is considered slightly above the other Masters is that, if anything goes wrong, he/she will unquestioningly take the Bearer's place. If the Bearer dies, then the Bearer's 2nd is automatically named the new Bearer. The Bearer's 2nd is chosen from the Masters by the Bearer herself.
Bearer of the Magic
The Bearer of the Magic is the most powerful Mystivian alive. The only people who have more authority than they do are kings. The Bearer can take ranks just as easilly as give them. It is the Bearer's desicion who is apprenticed by which Master, what weapon they receive, and what kind of quest they go on. If there is a disagreement among the Masters, then the Bearer's decision is always chosen. Whatever the Bearer says is LAW.

No one stays at JanniHarrii for free. Everyone does their fair share of the work to pay for their food, clothing, and homes. Here are the jobs you may be given and their descriptions. Some of the jobs seem a lot less wondrous than the others, but keep in mind that each job has its rewards.
Quote:
Hunter's Assistant
Not one of the greatest jobs. If you're squeamish, this is not the job for you. If you're alright being bossed around by Harpy and pretty much ignored by the other hunters, and don't find anything wrong with blood and gore, then this is a good job for you. The Hunter's assistant pretty much does the dirty work, such as cleaning the kills, skinning the kills, etc. The hours for this job are from 6 o'clock in the morning to 2 o'clock in the afternoon, and requires a long walk to and from the Hunter's camp every morning and afternoon.
Cook's Assistant
Gembri is a wonderful and award-winning cook, many people will agree. However, he does have his draw-backs. This master cook will only prepare his delicious meals one portion at a time because, as he says, "Gourmet can not be created in bulk!" This job is for the people who are ALWAYS willing to follow the directions and can keep secrets. Gembri doesn't want his wondrous recipies to be blurted to the world, now does he? The Cook's Assistants' must report to the kitchen an hour and a half before each meal, and will be released in time to eat.
Housekeeper's Assistant
This is the most popular of the jobs. This job's hours vary from person to person and include jobs such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, attending the bath house, helping in the Laundry Rooms (yes, everyone does their own laundry), and helping Hanna in the Wardrobe Room.
GardenTender
This job is for the lovers of nature and can be quite rewarding. Each Gardentender is given a small plot of land to care for. They do not get to decide what is grown there, but are expected to tend it. The GardenTender whose crops are the best-cared-for is rewarded very generously.
Harvester
If you have a knack for identifying certain types of obscure flora, this job might be in your interest. Harvesters are required to gather the herbal ingredients needed for Gembri's recipes, Hanna's various lotions, and occasionally the Doctor's remedies. When the time comes, Harvesters also assist gardeners with their crops. Throughout the other times of the year, the Harvesters may be given another job, such as Housekeeper's Assistant.
Doctor's Assistant
The Doctor's Assistant helps the Doctor with his work. They usually help him calm patients down, cheer people up, and help him administer medications. This is a job for cheerful people who are good with people and can handle the stress of this certain field.

"In the quite likely event of an emergency...please follow these guides."
Events....Xennik
The Good
Following Black CatBlack Cat likes to wander around, finding treasures around JanniHarrii. In fact, if you were to follow this cat, you may very much like what you come upon. However, Black Cat doesn't like crowds, and will only lead one or two persons.
Fairy's VisitThese little fairies hang around JanniHarrii at all times of the year. The best way to win these little critters over is by giving them little sweets. Speak to Master Risa or Gembri about obtaining these, and carry them with you at all times, especially if there has been a recent sighting of these fairies. When fairies are pleased they can be very generous.
Feeding the Gaze SpyderA very rare creature who, after devouring small orbs, makes a very strong, beautiful thread, that Mystan adores knitting into all manner of cloth. Just find a way to get this thread to her and you could be greatly rewarded.
Adoring AyedenTechnically, this isn't really an event, since this little gryphon expects to be cuddled at all times, anyway. But there are a few times when he may drop an item he's stolen from one of the Masters....
Finding
Sometimes, when wandering around, you'll randomly come upon an item. Such items (and weapons...?!) could be quite valuable, so keep your eyes peeled and always pay attention to what the Masters are saying. If you don't roleplay finding the item, you don't get it.
Did I Hear Something?!An odd mental urging to do a strange, sometimes dangerous thing. You can either do what the voice is saying, or report it to the nearest Master.
Events...Xennik
The Bad
Gaze Spyder's AttackGaze Spyders, though very, very useful creatures, are amazingly vicious and strong. These beasts are not afraid to attack anybody when they feel alarmed or threatened, so tread their territories cautiously, because you aren't allowed to kill a Gaze Spyder, they being personal favorites of the Bearer.
HypnotizedIt seems like you're sleep-walking....but are you?
Events....Xennik
The Just Plain Ugly
Huge events that will involve several people and can't be tackled alone, from attending banquets to fighting powerful enemies, will be recorded here.
Usually, these such events will include two or more Masters, not including Xennik, who has to be everywhere that Mystan has to be, but can't.

"So, you'd like to get to know your Superiors, hmm?"
Mystan Mystiva
The head honcha of all of JanniHarrii. Mystan is believed to be over one hundred years old, and she shows it. Her left eye was said to have been lost in a one-on-one battle with the devil. That is highly unlikely, though no one knows for sure, as she always covers what remains of that eye with an eye patch. Mystan is slumped, shriveled, and hunched with age, and wears layers and layers of rags, as if trying to hide the large and very noticable hump on her back, and is never seen without a hood and bandana covering her near-bald head. Yet an odd, consuming power still radiates from her age-frailed body...

Xennik Tay
The youngest of the masters, Xennik is second only to Mystan. He's very handsome and mesmerizing to watch, but his vanity and hot temper can make him unpleasant company. He's been known to be a little under-handed when it comes to getting what he wants. But, in spite of all his arrogance, he does have a sweet side to him...Somewhere. In battle, Xennik is the epitomy of grace and speed. His weapons of choice are a pair of elegant bladed-fans, and his mysterious 'true form.'
The black cat that hangs around JanniHarrii apparently belongs to him, or him to it, however you'd like to put it.

Progolo Dgagn
Quiet and untrusting, Master Progolo is easily the most reserved of the Master Mystivian. He always appears to be deep in thought due to his vague, distant expressions, and his height and impressive physique can prove intimidating. It's quite a feat to get him to warm up to someone, though he's genearlly kind-hearted. When he's not keeping to himself, he makes an excellent teacher--calm, patient and, of course, able to summon Omen-like monsters with which his apprentices can practice.
He's frequently accompanied by his adorable, yet quite feather-brained baby griffin, Ayeden.

Jim Decanis Pawne
Ah, dear Jimmy...Otherwise known as "the reincarnation of all that is unholy" to Master Xennik and the short-tempered cook. Arguably the most skilled of the masters, he's also a die-hard trouble-maker and a tease. Fortunately for him, his charisma and wide store of spells can usually get him out of most of the problems he causes. Though he appears youthful (not to mention, acts like it...) he's actually the oldest of the Masters--a little past middle-aged in Elven years. He certainly bears the scars of long life, as he's missing a few fingers of one of his hands. How this happened, he won't say...

Risa Kioko Livana
When one thinks of a blade-wielding master-warrior of offensive combat, one does not think of Risa. She's so sweet and gentle, it's a wonder she's at JanniHarrii at all. In fact, some people, (particularily other women) occaisionally find her wonderful nature almost enviable...Who else could possibly be so cheerful in the morning, smile at even the stupidest jokes, and eat enough food for three people and still keep her delicate figure? Interestingly, Risa doesn't seem to require eating (but she likes food too much to stop altogether) or sleeping, and frequently wanders the castle corridors at night. What she does in those wee hours still remains a mystery...
Roger, the speaking toad residing in the Garden ponds, is a good friend of Risa's.

"Upon reaching apprenticeship, every Mystivian is bound to a weapon. This weapon changes, adapting and growing more powerful as its Mystivian advances through the Ranks. A Mystivian may learn how to use other weapons, but their studies will mainly concentrate on the Weapon they are bound with, and they will never enter battle without it."
Here is a basic guide to the weapons that your character may be bound to.
Projectiles

Includes: Throwing Knives, Shruikens, Darts, etc.
These are long-range weapons that are thrown to inflict damage upon impact.
Whips

Includes: Ninetails, Bullwhips, Weaves, Signal Whips, Blacksnake Whips, etc.
A flexible thong or lash attached to a handle used for semi-close-range attacks. The longer the whip, the harder it is to crack. The harder the crack, the more the damage.
Wands

Includes: Wands
Small rods often decorated with gems and ingravings used to conduct, control, and fire magical power.
Slingshots

Includes: Slingshots
Long-range weapons made of bone, wood, or stone with a thong fastened to either end used for firing small stones or seeds.
Dartchutes

Includes: Blowguns, Dartchutes
The closest thing in MoJ to a gun, Dartchutes are long-range weapons made up of a thin shaft of wood or metal used for firing poisoned darts long distances by blowing into one end of the wooden or metal shaft.
Clubs

Includes: Staves, Clubs, Rods, Maces, Nunchucks, etc.
Close-range weapons used for causing great bodily harm, broken bones, missing eyes and teeth, and big bruises.
Bows

Includes: Longbows, Crossbows, Bows and Arrows
A long-distance weapon...Do I really need to explain this?
Boomerangs

Includes: Boomerangs
A curved, smooth contraption of wood designed to return to your hand when thrown. A long-distance weapon.
Blades

Includes: Swords, Katanas, Axes, Scythes, etc.
Close-range sharp metal weapons designed for the gouging and ripping of flesh.
Bands

Includes: Bands of Mind, Bands of Strength, Bands of Power, etc.
Magical clothing used to grant and boost certain magical abilities. Can be elemental, telekinetic, physical, etc.

Want more details on how to join? Go here.
The Joining Plans
Standard
Cost: Free
This plan is free. You pay us no gold, and you become a member, simple as that. You get no ID card.
ID Cards-Plan 1
Cost: 1,500g
For now, this is the only other plan besides the Standard. When you join, send 1500 gold to Xennik. All of the money will be sent to the artist, and, before long, you'll have a beautiful ID card! Our artist will read your registration and draw your character. The pictures will be black and white, but beautifully shaded. They will be busts. They'll turn out something like this:

Here's another example, belonging to one of our members, Kelala:

If you agree to put your ID in your signature with a link to the guild, I will host the image for you. That way, you advertise for us, and it doesn't have to take up space on your image hoster. It's a win-win situation. xd
You may switch to a higher Joining Plan any time during your membership. Just PM Xennik Droid, and we'll work it out.
Getting Started
Okay, so, you've just joined MoJ. But - now what? Everybody is already caught up in their own roleplays, and you don't know how to even get your character into the castle. You can begin roleplaying in many ways;
1.) You can begin the "Standard way", by appearing at the Great Barrier and being led in by a cast NPC or other member. However, this way has it's many difficulties. For one, it may be quite a while before anyone is free to help you. For another, you have to explain what you're doing at the Great Barrier in the first place, and etc.
2.) Many people live in JanniHarrii for shelter and training, and pay for it by helping around the castle (i.e. helping Hanna clean, which would be most likely). You can be one of these people. All you have to do is just START in the castle, and act like you've been there for some time. But, there are things to keep in mind. You HAVE to use proper ettiquette, you'll need to tie into your roleplays HOW you came to JanniHarrii, and, remember that JanniHarrii is a fairly NEW place. It has only been up and running for about a year and a half. It may take a little longer to Rank Up to an Apprentice if you start this way, but, I assure you, this is the better way to start.

"This will be your home from now until the day you die a horrible death in battle. Enjoy!"

Yikes! What a sad, sad map this is. But it gets the basic idea across. See that green stuff? Yeah, that's grass. And those gray things? Those are paths. And the little brown things with numbers on them that look like mud puddles? Those...are houses. Yes, houses. Sadly.
See, what'd I tell ya? Yikes.
Anyway, the houses are small little cottages with two bedrooms, a main room, and a bathroom (MoJ has indoor plumbing x| *shot* ), complete with bath.
Two members will be assigned to each cottage, and the Cottage-town is only about a twenty minute walk from the castle. Every member lives in Cottage-town, unless told otherwise by one of the Masters.
In the center of Cottage-town -that little blue thing? Yeah.- is a fountain that doubles as a well. If anyone is thirsty, the water is nice and clean. All of the meals are served at the castle, unless there is an emergency, and then the Emergency House (which is kept stocked at all times with blankets, beds, clothing, food, clean water, and weapons) is opened up and the villagers have to prepare their own food and generally take care of themselves until the emergency passes.
Cottage-town (and the castle) are nearly three miles from the Great Barrier. Just thought I'd clear that up.
