Hello! A month or so ago, I got this wonderful commission from the dazzlingly talented Leelakin of my OCs, Katan and her brother Adrik. I squeed so much over this piece, it wasn't even funny. I was grinning for days. I pull it up every day, looking at it and smiling like an idiot. Yeah, I know, I'm a geek. Anyway, I finally realized that if I had it as my desktop wallpaper, I could gaze at it even more than I do already! Yay! Only trouble is, it isn't exactly wallpaper size. Hmm. Whatever to put on the left and right of it? Empty space...never! And so, this art contest was hatched.

Okay, so the intro was a little disjointed. Basically, the object of this contest is to get six chibi pictures of Katan and Adrik being their usual, not-so-charming selves so I can arrange them around my Leelakin picture, making a neat desktop wallpaper. Sound good? I'm looking full body, couple, chibi art, preferably sketchy and monotone. I hope for this to be a quirky little contest you artist can have fun with.

And then I can have art, of course. heart

4. All contest entries are mine, reguardless of whether or not you win! No, I will not steal your art and call it my own. All this means is I get to keep it on my computer or display it on my webpage gallery as a piece you've done of my characters.
5. Don't steal art! These are my characters and artists hard work. DO NOT STEAL.
6. Have fun! You have to now, since it's in the rules. wink

-Chibi art only! Whaterever style of chibi you'd like, but it must, MUST be chibi.

-Full body couple art only! Must be couple art, since that's the point of the contest, and I'd like full body above all else. If you think I'd like to make an exception for your art, pm me and we'll talk.

-Sketchy is good! I'm actually looking for sketchy style art for this, since the center piece for the wall paper is so fantabulous I think it'll set it off nicely. That being said, I'd still like fairly clean sketches, and I need them to be visible (i.e. not too light or washed out). I'd prefer black, gray, or sepia tones, but color is also fine.

..Katan..

Gender: female
Species: 3/8ths human, 5/8ths vulcan
Technical Age: early to mid thirties
Apparent Age: early to mid twenties
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 150lbs
Hair: Black, waist length with long wispy bangs, straight with a slight wave, usually worn in a loose braid
Eye Color: dark green
Ears: pointed, although a bit less than normal vulcans. Not elf ears.
Complexion: light tan
Build: Curvy and muscular. She's a well trained fighter, and has the body build to prove it. While tall, she is not a skinny or 'willowy' type.

Distinguishing Marks: SEE WEBPAGE An elaborate tattoo marks her back, made from whip scars that were carefully applied and then filled with a poisonous black ink. Design not yet finalized, but would look like a combination of whip scars, tribal tattoos, and romulan script. She has a few of regular scars marking her arms, belly, and legs that she wears proudly as battle scars. Only the worst of her wounds are allowed to scar and not be erased by a dermal regenerator.

Personality: Katan is an odd one. Having be been born on-ship during a deep space mission and having spent six years with her parents on their science ship, she prefers to be in space than on a planet. Raised by fairly indulgent adoptive parents she has an innately quirky and a bit arrogant disposition, although if she knows and likes you she'll be friendly and cheerful. True to her Cardassian upbringing, Katan tends to be devious and manipulative, although she's open and honest with her family and a few close friends. For the most part, she's terse, sarcastic, and a bit short with people she doesn't know, and only pretends to be personable when desperately needed. She is very family oriented like most Cardassians, and adores her adoptive parents and brother. Being an orphan and family person, Katan has a tendency to gather friends into a large makeshift family that sprawls so large it has caused Adrik to claim that she is 'hogging the universe.' She enjoys music quite a bit, and has an immense collection of 20th century Terran Rock music sound files. Although she is not genetically Cardassian, she considers herself to be one and embraces the species' arrogant distain of other cultures. Not a particular fan of Vulcan logic, she does prize her inherited physical abilities from the race, much prefering them to the 'weak' human constitution, and is quite proud of her mind and the Cardassian training that has helped to shape it into an unreadable, devious thing. She does have some telepathic abilities because of her Vulcan genes, but doesn't put much stock in them and mostly uses them to tease her brother. About the only thing she claims to have gotten from her human side is her compacity for violence and singing voice. Even her love and use of sarcasm, which her brother likes to say is a very human one, is something Katan credits to her Cardassian upbringing, along with her appreciation for family, friends, art, music, and history.

Gender: male
Species: Cardassian
Age: mid thirties
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 210lbs
Hair: Dark, dark brown. Very straight and rather thick, cut just below shoulder length and worn slicked back, although every now and then some shorter wisps escape and fall forward.
Eye Color: Warm brown, rather deep set in his face
Complexion: pale purpleish-gray
Build: Strong and muscular. Adrik was trained as an infantry soldier and maintains his physique.

Personality: Adrik's probably one of the nicest, well-adjusted members of the crew. He's a family man - he and his wife have a six-year-old daughter and a eight-month-old son. He's very attached to them, his parents, and his adopted sister Katan. Unlike his sister he's a pretty personable guy; he gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. He's very protective of his family, though, and since he was in the army for about ten years and is a big guy, he can do a lot of damage to anyone who tries to bother them. Still, even though he looks intimidating and can has the abilities to back it up, he prefers to settle disputes with words and really only argues with Katan. He's a born diplomat: even-tempered, patient, cheerful, if a bit manipulative. No matter what happens, he always seems to be able to find the amusing slant on a situation, and is a champion cheer-er-up-er. Adrik can maintain a good mood through just about anything - until his loved ones are threatened. Then he can get a bit nasty. He and Katan get along very well, spending their days alternating between working perfectly together and annoying each other to pieces.

..Let Me Clear a Few Things Up..

-Yes, they are Star Trek fan characters. I am a Trekkie. A really geeky, Trek fan of girl. Feel free to shake your head at me, or join in the nerdiness. wink
-Katan is biologically part vulcan and part human while Adrik is biologically cardassian, hence them looking very different.
-Katan was adopted by Adrik's family when she was six, the two of them grew up together, and they live and work on the same ship as adults. They are brother and sister, and very close.
-Katan has a big 'ol back tattoo, the design of which is not finalized. See webpage for details. You are free to play around with it as much or as little as you'd like.
-Cardassians like Adrik have bunches and bunches of scaled ridges on them. If you like to minimize the amount of those you have to draw, I recommend you keep him in high necks and long sleeves. It's what he tends to wear anyway.
-Although she's genetically part vulcan, Katan does exhibit normal emotions and reactions. She wasn't raised to be logical, and makes a point to act as non-vulcan as possible anyway.

...There are six categories, each an emotional theme I want to see. Regardless of the category, ALL pictures for this contest need to be chibi couple art of my two characters interacting..

Category One: Yays!
Theme - both Katan and Adrik happy and having a good time. Did they just win something together? Did they get good news? Are they doing a victory dance? The cuter, bouncier, and more cheerful the better.

Prize: Pink box = 21.5k value at mid LD

Category Two: Grrr!
Theme - Katan and Adrik fighting. Shouting match or tickle fight? Is Katan beating Adrik up, or is it the other way around. Are they adults having an argument or kids having a brawl? Even as adults they fight like cats and dogs sometimes, practically regressing to twelve.

Prize: Dec. 04 + Dec. 05 + 5.5k = 20k value at mid LD

Category Three: Neener!
Theme - Katan or Adrik teasing the other one. Who got the bigger treat? The better toy? The best grade? Who has to go do the dirty work, got injured, lost the game? Being close siblings, both Katan and Adrik can be petty about things, and love to push each other's buttons.

Prize: Pink box = 21.5k value at mid LD

Category Four: There, there.
Theme - Katan or Adrik consoling the other one. Did Katan just get beat up by bullies after school as a kid? Is Adrik worrying about his wife after a bridge accident? If there's one person Katan or Adrik can always count on to be there no matter what, it's their sibling. It's good to have a shoulder to cry on.

Prize: Nov 04 + 2 Dec. 05 + 2.5k = 20k value at mid LD

Category Five: Back off!
Theme - Katan and Adrik protecting each other/fighting as allies. Hey, what did you call my sister? You! Leave my brother alone! Katan and Adrik both agree, the only person allowed to hurt their sibling is them. Everyone else has to go through them! The outward version of Grrr.

Prize: Pink box = 21.5k value at mid LD

Category Six: ...?
Theme - Katan or Adrik is being confused by the other one. Why is Katan wearing that? Adrik married who? Katan and Adrik are a wacky pair, and confound each other as much as other people. The more amusing the one doing the confusing looks, the better.

Prize: Guitar of Angelus + 4.5k = 20k value at mid LD
