Ok guys, Here's the plan. After checking the contest scene, I think it's time for one of the ultimate throwdowns. I want to build it up more, but why don't I just throw down some stats first.

Entrance Fee: 200

It's not a lot, and easy to make. Also, the more people join, the better because

Reward: 100% of all entrance fees

That's right. No one profits from this contest except for the determined winner. It's all or nothing here, so have some confidence, yeah?

Prompt: Super Heroes!

That's right. And guess what. That's also the only requirement. There is no word requirement, no genre requirement, no nothing! I accept all genres, romance, mystery, whatever. Also, it doesn't only have to be fiction. Generally, I tend to prefer fiction to poetry, but I think that superhero poetry would be an amusing concept that I'd like to see. So seriously, write whatever you want. Just have it involve superheroes.

Judging: I'll be handling the judging, but I'm very unbiased, expecially so thanks to my newbie status (glad it's good for something). As far as judging standards, I'm going to pick the story that I think is the best. Tips for things I like in stories, just to give you (whoever's reading this) an edge. First, I like things I can actually read. Net jargon and l33t takes a little too much effort. Second, the story/poem's gotta be interesting. If it bores me, then it's probably a boring story. Those are things I like.

Submission form: Just submit in the thread with the title and rating. I'm fine to hear whatever you want to write, but others may be offended. If it's R, say so. If it's nc-17, say so. I'll accept any rating.

DEADLINE: I will stop accepting entries on the 20th of December, so get a move on! I'll try my best to pick the winner as soon as possible. Sometime around the new year would be a good estimate for when I pick the winner.

That's it.

Go!
Here's where I'll be putting the contestants, their stories, and whether they've paid the entry fee. Yeah!

xd a friend of mine has been dying for a contest like this. But I must ask, what happens if only a few people join? Or if he's the omly one who joins does he get a refund?
well, unfortunately, the less people join the smaller the prize. I know that's a raw deal, but as you may guess from my attire, I really don't have much to back up the prize, so the more people join, the more of a success it will be. If, by unhappy chance, only one person does sign up, I'll give that person all the money I have (a far from impressive amount) as a reward.
I want to enter!
Awesome! Send me the fee and put up the story in the thread as soon as you're ready!
Alrighty! Here goes! My story is "Paranormal Duo; Just the usual"

It started out as a usual day at Rowan High, until the teacher made an announcement. "Class, we have two new students today, Yuri Hollow and Aaron Grace. Please help them adjust." The class got a good look at the new arrivals. Aaron's ruffled black hair looked like he didn't bother combing it when he left for school. His bangs were covering his brown eyes, which darted around the class as if looking for someone. He was wearing a black t-shirt with a red jacket and khakis. Yuri, on the other hand, had short cut brown hair with one strand wrapped. Her hazel green eyes seemed dark, as though something had happened to her. She was wearing a brown t-shirt with "Out of your League" on it in pink, sparkling letters, and blue jeans. Around her neck was a silver locket, with a flowery design and the kanji sign for mother. Both of them were skinny, though Aaron had a bit of muscle. Everyone took their seats and class began. The teacher droned on about trigonometry, putting people to sleep. Yuri was one of the only ones paying attention, barely. Finally the bell rang and the students left gratefully. Yuri was half-awake with Aaron supporting her and informing the teacher he would take her to the nurse's office. But instead of going there, they went towards the cold storage. "Is it here?" Aaron asked. Yuri nodded, now alert and ready. Aaron pulled the lock off like he was picking a daisy. Dropping it casually, both of them went in. No one knew, but when Yuri heard rumors about a ghost killing other students and retreating to the cold storage, she and Aaron decided to investigate. The ghost was Owen, a boy who harassed by other students before committing suicide. The bullies were later expelled from the school. What everyone also didn't know was that Yuri was actually a spiritualist and Aaron was a half-demon. Together they were the Paranormal Duo, who worked for the P.S.I. (Paranormal Sights Investigation.) team, who put spirits to rest, drive out trouble making demons, and fought the organization Purity, who wanted all demons and spirits gone. Yuri's mother was part of Purity, but died when she refused to kill her daughter. During a fight with Purity, Yuri got a fatal wound. Before she died, Aaron made a contract with her. A contract was when a human and a demon or spirit became partners, the human for power or, in Yuri's case, to live. And the demon becomes stronger also. "It seems like yesterday I didn't have a clue what was going on." Yuri remarked. Aaron nodded, then quickly looked ahead. "Found him." he muttered. Right in front of them was a male, around their age, wearing a blue polo and jeans. His sandy brown hair was combed neatly and behind his glasses were blue eyes. It would look like another student if you could see his feet and if there wasn't a knife sticking out of his chest. The ghost pulled out the knife and advanced towards the pair, a crazed look in his eyes and his grin. Yuri stepped forward. "Owen, you don't have any reason to be here. Those who tormented you are no longer in this school and your pain is gone. You may move on to a happier place." The ghost didn't listen. Instead, he jabbed the knife at Yuri. Aaron pulled her out of the way in the nick of time. "Hey, she didn't do anything to you!" Aaron yelled. The ghost, not seeming to care, charged at them. "His spirit's been possessed!" Aaron yelled, exasperated. Yuri looked intent at the rouge spirit. "Thought so," she said. "You keep it busy while I prepare the exorcism." Aaron nodded and yelled. "Hey over here!" The spirit's eyes glinted with glee. He charged at Aaron Meanwhile, Yuri was concentrating very hard on the exorcism. A blue aura surrounded her. As the ghost got close enough to her, she stuck her hand in it. Ripples spread out from where her hand went in. The ghost let out an inhuman scream as it struggled to get Yuri's hand out. But it failed, though Yuri was starting to waver from fighting it. Still her hand searched for the demon that had made one-half of the rouge spirit. Her fingers brushed against something slimy. She quickly grabbed it and pulled it out. Yuri gasped as she saw what looked like clear mucus come out. "A little help!" she yelled. Aaron grabbed the thing and also pulled. The duo continued pulling for a few minutes. There was now a puddle forming. "Almost out." Aaron muttered. A spray of the slimy stuff hit Yuri. She yelped. "I'm definitely taking a shower when I get home." she whined. "Aw cut it out." Aaron snickered. "It's a good look for you anyway." But before Yuri could protest, hands sprung from the puddle and wrapped around Aaron's throat. Yuri tried to help, but found the slime had changed into ropes. All she and Aaron could do was watch the demon emerge, as arms followed with a head, shoulders, torso, and legs. He was lean with black, tattered robes. His hair was pale like its skin and came down to its waist. The whites of his eyes were black, with red irises, and a slit, white pupil. The demon grinned, baring his fangs. "So you finally came." he said in a hoarse, snake like voice. "This pathetic human's spirit is weak, but it served its purpose."
"What purpose?" Yuri asked, trying to buy some time for both Aaron and her. "To regain my strength." the demon replied. "Hundreds of years ago, I was a powerful demon. Until a half-breed and a spiritualist like yourselves destroyed me. Before I could die, I put my spirit in a nearby specter. I bided my time, waiting for a pair like the ones who killed me to come back, since the spiritualist put a curse on me. 'Your strength shall never return unless you take the lives of a similar pair who destroyed you.' That was the curse.
"So I went from spirit to spirit, hoping to catch the attention of that pair. And I believe I did. Now to take your life forces. Starting with you." Aaron winced as pain surged in his body. It was searing, but cold as well. Meanwhile, Yuri squinted her eyes in concentration. She felt her aura building up inside her, ready to emerge. She welcomed the warmth. "Hurry." Yuri muttered. Finally, as she felt warm from head to toe, she let it out. The surge of energy broke the ropes, freeing her. Yuri took out the locket and opened it. Inside was a picture of Yuri with her mother and on the other was a clock. She flipped the clock over, revealing the sign for partnership. Yuri touched it and while channeling her aura into it, she ran to Aaron. By the time she was behind him and had thrown it over his head, it was a miniature sun without heat. The locket's aura dissolved into Aaron's body and began changing it. His nails grew longer and his eyes turned amber and got a mischievous look in them while strange tattoos spiraled around his body. He smirked, then stuck his hand into the demon's chest, right through the heart. The demon's screech was worse then a combination of nails on a chalkboard and an ambulance siren. It melted into a clear puddle, which evaporated. Yuri went over to Aaron and took the locket off. Almost instantly, his eyes returned to normal and the tattoos disappeared. Yuri then went over to Owen. "Now that he's gone, you're free to rest in peace." she said softly. Owen smiled warmly and started fading. "Thank you." he said gladly, then he was gone. Yuri turned to Aaron and took nail clippers out of her pocket. He just sighed and allowed her to clip his claws. It was just another day at Rowan High.

Sorry if it isn't superhero like enough. I just wanted to make it interesting. Hope you liked it.

OMG, it's the eye-bleeding textblock of doom...

Please, please follow the forumy rules and press the return key every once in a while. Please? crying
The story's fancy honyou, and you are amazing for being the first to jump in.

However, it is a bit blocky. Think you could edit it and break up the block? A good tip is wherever you'd hit tab to indent, hit enter to break it up. biggrin
Oh bumps...
...Okay, I'll enter! It won't be serious or anything, but I'll try.

Dangerous Genius

Sounds sorta fun, if I can get my act together and actually finish writing Firefly and the False Dragons, my eventual superhero story, I'll submit it.
Eh. Some contests require me to drop by and wave before I submit entry fee/story. And then some require that I wait for confirmation of entry fee before submitting a story.

*drops by*

*waves*
Heh, well, don't feel too obligated. So long as your fee and entry are in by the deadline it's fine by me. I can understand shyness

On the flip side, thanks for dropping by and waving! Folks around here are so friendly lol 4laugh
