Personality- A relaxed and rather easygoing man, Aki's the type of person always seen lurking about along the sidelines, giving out advice and support as needed. He is generally an easy person to get along with, though if you rub him the wrong way, he'll certainly not make things easy for you. Hard to believe that three years ago he was well-known in the music industry for being a complete jackass. However, time and a rather nasty car crash he was involved in three years ago has caused him to undergo a complete personality change. He admits to being an a** back then, and even jokes about it, but inquire about the car crash and you'll probaly recieve a quick change of topic at best, or a rather unfriendly glare at worst. Depends on his mood. It's still a rather... touchy subject for him.
History- Mention the band 'Madameoiselle' to any J-Rock fan, and you'll hear nothing but praise, mingled with regret. They were the best band in their day, and were only just beginning to bloom and show what they could really do. Shuuya the drummer, Kazuo the bassist, and of course: Akimoto and Shijnji, the lead guitarist and the vocalist. They were the best of the best, the band that could have whatever they wanted. Women wanted them, men wanted to be them. There was nothing they couldn't do.
That was what Akimoto's life was like. He had been a borderline prodigy on the guitar, raised to hone his skills on the instrument and do nothing else but play for the best bands when he grew up. He and his best friend Shinji eventually formed the band 'Madameoiselle' with Shuuya and Kazuo. They were an instant hit, and it was apparent that they were destined for greatness. Each album was better than the last, and drew a bigger fan following with each release. As stated before, there was nothing they couldn't do.
Ah, but there is more than one way to end a career, and it is this that causes the regret to linger in the voices of their fans. Money cannot buy happiness, so the stars tend do fall into things that they believe cause them happiness: drugs, alcohol, prostitutes... the list goes on. The band began to dabble in such things, but Shinji was the worst. He was a slave to narcotics and hallucinogen drugs, and it was his addiction that ended the band... and his life.
The accident began innocently enough. The band went out to have a few drinks and some fun, only they didn't notice that Shinji had brought along his drugs with him. They went out, had a good time and a few laughs, then decided at last to go home. Since they had gone in Shinji's car, he was the one driving. He was high on drugs as they clambered in the car to go home, and... you can guess what happened next. The car ran headfirst into a tunnel wall at a high enough speed for the accident to kill Shinji and injure the other three members in the car fairly badly. Akimoto was probably the worst off, since a large chunk of class from the passenger window had crumpled in and slit his left arm rather badly. He had other injuries, but none were as bad as the cut on his arm. Thanfully, the doctors managed to save it, though some major nerves were severed and he can't use his left hand to do any fine manipulation, such as write or play the guitar.
Akimoto was crushed about the accident. His best friend was dead. He could no longer play the guitar. He felt abandoned, lost. Shuuya and Kazuo were not nearly as badly hurt, and they quickly drifted off their own seperate ways. Aki, however, had to undergo nearly a year of physical therapy to get his right hand to simply WORK again. It was obvious he would never be able to play the guitar again, so he studied buisness for a bit, and somehow has managed to end up back int he music industry as a music agent. Slightly ironic, yes, but Aki feels most comfortable in the industry in the end...
