About the GaiaCast Project


The GaiaCast Project was started in October 2005 with the release of Episode Zero of the GaiaCast Podcast. The first episode was effectively an infomercial, there to show the members of the GaiaOnline community the potential of the Podcast Medium. A week later the show returned with news, a panel discussion featuring showhost `dan and panelists TriskDaemon, Seth Darkheart, and GeminiSun.

The show was somewhat regular as a weekly release for a few weeks and included news, plot panel discussion, contests and giveaways, and music. The music left the show, and it turned into a biweekly release in December 2005, and during this time Axmainian was added as news anchor.

January 2006 introduced the second initiative of the GaiaCast Project, GaiaCast.com. While the podcast is and will remain the cornerstone of the GaiaCast Project, GaiaCast.com is the hub of all our activities.

I just checked it out (though I skipped the music to be honest :X). It was actually alot better than I thought it would be. I must say that whomever is the voice of the show is great. They have a radio voice which makes the show much more enjoyable to listen to. The news part was pretty good. Next week should be quite interesting with the Halloween events and such.

All in all it was great. I'll probobly listen every week. wtg. domokun

I'm about to run off to sleep... rather, off to read some Lem, then sleep. Have class in 6 1/2 hours. lol.

I'd just like to add that we really, REALLY like audio comments... so if you've got a mic, record something and email it to GaiaCast@gmail.com . Of course you can use the phone # above or Skype as well.

I really don't have like any at the moment, so if you call or email with basically anything (within reason) it may well end up on the show.

Especially enjoyed are questions and comments related to the Halloween plot updates and events. It will be used in conjunction with the panel discussion. ^^

As for a co-host... we shall see. The panel will involve a number of people, and effectively take up a large portion of the show... so in the future episodes it won't just be me.

First of all, congrats on the launch.

Episode Zero was good stuff. I clicked on the link without any expectations and was really very pleasantly surprised and impressed. Gcast is looking to be very promising indeed.

The idea about focussing on various Gaians ('of the month'/'new') as well as minishop and guild owners is great. I'm looking forward to listening to the H2K5 panel in next week's episode.


Some suggestions for future content, forgive me if it's not too coherent/not feasible:

A periodic feature in which a different forum/subforum is presented (either by the host or a denizen of the forum) - it may allow Gaians who do not usually frequent that particular forum/sub forum to learn a little more about 'life in other parts of Gaia'.

Interviews of people behind the smooth running of Gaia - I'm thinking mainly moderators/helpers (if you can get a hold of them/if they are willing 3nodding ). Insight/quotes/their view of Gaia as a community etc.
