I guess you already know this, but I'm holding a beginners ONLY poetry contest. I made this because I know there are a lot of new poets out there who enter these big shote poetry contests and NEVER win because of all the higher leve l poets. If you're one of those people, here's a chance for you to compete at a level where you are capable of winning at. ALL the information you need is in the next few posts so just scroll on down. smile

By the way, I need two more judges to, ya know help me judge the contest. They can be at any writing level. mrgreen

arrow Trade with me the money for the your entry(s)and make sure the trade is titled "poetry contest". (it is 100 gold for the first entry and 50 gold for each extra one. You can enter a maximum of 3 poems.) arrow You may then post your poem here or pm it to me or one of the other judges.

The rules are pretty simple (thank goodness sweatdrop )

exclaim NO CYBERING
exclaim Follow all Gaian rules
exclaim NO talking about other contestants poems (healthy criticism is allowed, just make sure the person is ok with it)
exclaim BEGINNERS ONLY I can never stress this enough. People will try to enter this contest just to win all to easily.

exclaim arrow Breaking any of these rules will get you put on the BLACKLIST pirate and you DON'T wanna go there!! eek

It's so very cold and black

It keeps holding me back

It was sucking out my soul

This is a Tales of Symphonia poetry I made while I was pretty much half asleep, due to my boredom. Anyhow, a few people liked it, so I guess I'll just give it a shot.

I am Special

A darkness
Somewhere complete with darkness
Where only hatred and sadness is born

Humans and elves alike
All have but one hatred feeling
Towards innocent half-elves of mixed blood

Out of nowhere
I become special
A half blood
Who no one knows of
Special

Life is adventurous
It also can be
Somewhat meaningless
For those
Who never cared

Even though
Being special is unique
Those who hate
half bloods
Are still cold blooded

They kick
Us out of Heimdall
And leaves us
To be killed
By monsters
Or be taken as slaves
Or even
Become lab experiments

They know
Of who I am
But yet
They massively mistreat
My friends and I
The one I love
Darkness consumes it all

Never will I
Be able to see the face
Of the one whom
I love

I know of my fate
It is to sacrifice
My life
For those that does not understand

My duties
Shall when the time comes
When I shall be separated
From my loved ones

But as I float
In the beautiful clouds
I look down
At the loved ones

Where those
That attempt to reach me
Be assassinated
By my only love

Understanding me
My sweetheart
Does what's best
To keep those
That have been killed
Safe and sound
From the evil that awaits them

But I watch
Helplessly
As the last of the generations
Face dangerous
Activities

My life
As someone special
Is not all
That great

that was good and i liked it. it was long but it kept me kinda interested. it's really different from a lot of things i read because it's a story in poetic form.

Yeah, I like writing stories. I did two poems in a story type of format, and this was one of them.

That depends on your judging criteria.

As a judge, I have a criteria that I follow concerning scoring, impact, and critique. What's yours? If you don't have one, I'd make one and post it in your information posts. It helps your contestants to know how they're being scored.
