The first Jidai Matsuri Festival on Gaia!

October 22nd is the traditional Jidai Matsuri, Festival of the Ages, celebration in Japan's geisha districts. Our very own hanamachi, or geisha district, decided to make a present to all of the Gaians and hold an all-Gaia festival!

But first, a little bit about this wonderful celebration.

Jidai Matsuri celebrates the anniversary of Kyoto?s designation as the capital of Japan. This itself took place in the year of 795.

This year festival will be the 1,210th anniversary of the event.

The parade includes thousands of people, wearing clothes of different epochs of Japan. Residents and visitors, especially the foreigners, of Japan submerge themselves in the culture and style of ages longed past.

So, on this 22nd of October you are offered a rare opportunity to feel the spirit of ancient Japan and become Captain Blackthorne ("Shogun" wink for a whole day.

Gaians, who have their avatars dressed in kimonos and other Japanese-styled outfits, are more than welcomed to take part in the festival.
To do this, simply join this thread on October 22 and follow the parade as it will pass.

All Gaians, dressed up to par or not, are welcomed to be spectators of this magnificent festival!

Let the brightest multicoloured kimono and most beautiful geisha make the celebration unforgettable!

Rules And Guidelines Of The Festival

1. Gaia ToS and Rules and Guidelines are an unbreakable law.
2. Keep all conversations Festival-related.
3. No bumping! Let the Festival advance in talking and action.
3. We urge you to be as literate as possible.
4. Different surprises are prepared for the guests, as well as avatar contests, mini games and entertainment.

Avatar Contest

All the festival visitors wearing kimono and yukata automatically participate in the avatar contest with its own prizes. The participants will be listed on the front page.
Don't be too shy to tell us if you are in the procession but were missed out of the list.
By the end of the day Gion Baraen representatives will pick the winner(s) of the contest. Their names will be listed as well.

MiniGames

1. All day long one of the Festival Staff members will appear wearing a Ghosty outfit. As soon as you see it, post --> Wowow, here's a ghosty <-- exactly as it's typed here. If you happen to be first, you will get a point.
The person who gets most points after 10 rounds of the game, receives a prize from Gion Baraen.

2. Each 15th page a random gift will be given out.

3. Riddle-game. Check out the current riddle and try to answer it. The first person to give the correct answer will receive a present.

Finally, the day of the festival begins. Even the air is filled with expectance of this miraculous sight. Each year the Japan residents and, especially, the foreigners are eager to see the ancient Kyoto come back in all of it's beauty and honor.
