I apologize... although it was not me who posted it... I know that it is terrible when someone uses your work without permission... I humbly apologize, and slightly hope that the author of the post will be able to remove it ^^
However... please don't use caps-aka yelling... I know you have every right to be angry, but... -_-;; yelling isn't nice either, especially since a lot of people on the thread were not responsible for the poem-stealing.
That said, I agree whole heartedly that using someone's personal writing without their permission is truly the wrong thing to do. You may think it would look really funky if someone illustrated it... but if the author doesn't want it illustrated, then don't. Some people like it when their works interpreted differently, but not everyone.
Let's be more mindful of this, ne? And don't post character bios unless they're your OWN characters. (this does include fancharies...) I mean, that's what this thread *is* for, right?
I agree wholeheartedly. Plagiarisms is neither encouraged nor condoned in this thread. No writing is to be used without the expressed permission of the creator. While we allow reference to or "inspired by" uses of published characters (such as some descriptions we've had that were loosely based on characters from Harry Potter) no work is to be misused, published works or not.
Let me just take a moment to make one thing clear:
If you post an original passage or description in this thread you are thereby giving your implied permission for it to be used by our artists.
That same rule applies to the now defunct thread that I made in the Writer's forum asking writers if they'd like to have their characters drawn. If you read a thread entitled "Writers, have your characters drawn by Gaia artist's!" and goes on to offer an explanation and a link back to the original page of this thread, it is assumed that you understand what's going to be done with your writing. If you proceed to offer a description or poem with the comment to the effect of "here see what you can do with this", it as further assumed that you consent to have your work used, or else why would you have offered it?
In the future please heed the instructions on the first post in this thread and if you do not fully understand what this thread is about and how it is used then please don't post your writing!
Thank you Donyana-san! ^_^ It's good to put out important things like that!
um, another question... sweatdrop
Could I post the picture I did of your character on my website? Of course, I would give you credit and link you. If you would also like to use the image (well, I believe it was implied in the rules that you could, however...) all I ask is that you give me proper credit... sweatdrop
I think that these thing were implied... but, just to make sure. sweatdrop
Absolutely you may use the picture on your website; after all, it is your picture. By all means, do!
This seems like a good time to take a moment to clarify the rules about using pictures posted here. When you post a picture on the board here, it is assumed that you are granting permission to the writer of the character to use the picture you've created.
However, as the creator of the picture, you maintain the right to say "I'd really rather you not use my picture," in which other people are required to respect your wishes and not use the picture.
If the creator of the picture does not object to the writer borrowing the picture, the writer is obligated to credit the artist who created the picture whenever they may use it.
And in the event that any characters/pictures are to be used in an professional publication (not including personal websites or home-made printings), the issues of ownership will be decided between all involved parties, with the help of lawyers if necessary. But hopefully it won't come to that. wink
In respect to the picture of my character, all I ask is that you share a link to the website so I can admire it. biggrin
