Red = Kirra
Rushing home from work Matisha ran up her driveway to the Ranch. It had been her third day here, a time where she thought she should be relaxing. But work had gone into fits without her, and she had to make a much needed stop by to get it running smoothly again. Turning the key in the door, Matisha could already hear her daughter’s voice through the walls.
"THEO!!! gimmie it back, gimmie it back, it was mine first!" shouted Kirra.
Matisha sighed, she had, had enough trouble at work now she had to sort her family out too. Walking through the door Matisha walked into the games room where she had heard the voices coming from.
There beside the couch stood Theodora and Kirra, who was screaming, with tears running down her cheeks as she tugged back on the object that Theo held firmly in her hand. She was half the size of Theo; even more so, being only 4 she had no chance of pulling the item away. Theodora though was having a great time, with a sly grin on her face, she held the item high enough for Kirra to reach but not grab it away.
"Giveit back Theo, please, mummy will shout at me."
Kirra tried her best to reach Theo’s hand, but the demoness only laughed as she raised her hand higher. Matisha walked straight into the room, with a look of pure horror on her face.
"What do you think you are doing Theodora? I leave you for 5 minutes and you have Kirra in tears, explain yourself at once."
Theo jumped at Matisha voice, not expecting her back so soon. She hid the items behind her back, and stood there with pure innocence.
"I wasn’t doing anything Matisha, I was just playing a game with Kirra, and it was her idea."
Matisha shook her head, and picked up Kirra in her arms, who was still crying about the item.
"Oh Theo how old are you? You can’t be playing games with Kirra, especially ones that make her cry; you are acting like a bully. I would have thought better of you. But I guess I can’t leave you alone. What is this about anyway?
Theo looking a bit miffed at being shouted at, especially by someone younger than her. Bringing her arm back around Theo showed the item in her hand. There sat the disc, the one previously found in the woods.
“Why do you have that? Have you been in my room? Tell me the truth now?"
Matisha shouted, trying to keep her voice as calm as she could.
Theo sneered, tired of being looked down at.
“If you want to know, it wasn’t me, it’s that brat; she saw it and was playing with it down here. I took it from her, knowing that she had taken it from you room. So before you going playing the blame came. Maybe you should talk to your offspring.”
Matisha took the Disc from Theo’s hands, still holding Kirra in her arms. Looking at it, it was scratched, and had been coloured on.
“Kirra did you do this? Is Theo telling the truth?”
Still with floods of tears running down her face, Kirra nodded, only slightly, as if little or no movement was going to get her in to less trouble.
Matisha taking a deep breath, put Kirra down on the floor, and sat down herself.
“Dear you know not to mess with things that you have no idea what they are. Not only that you know you are not allowed to take things from mummy’s room with out her permission. Why did you do it?”
Kirra through fits of hiccups due to the extent of crying explained her side of the story.
“Well I saw it, and I ...thought ...it looked ...pretty and I wanted to see…what it was…and so I took it from your room to get…a better look, and then…I thought it would be ok to play with it and…emmm…then Theo caught me. But I didn’t mean to break it mummy, I really didn’t. It just that it was, emmm glowing, and I thought it as trying to speak, and it was err, it was such a nasty colour, I thought I would make it more pretty…that’s the truth, I pwomise.”
Matisha took the disc, and started to rub the crayon of it, it came away, so no real harm had been done. Smiling Matisha kissed the forehead of Kirra, and ruffled up her hair.
“As long as you are sorry, and promise me that you will never do it again ok? Lots of things in my bedroom are items I have brought back from travelling, I don’t what they do, and neither should you. I don’t want you getting hurt dear, so promise me you won’t do that again?”
Kirra smiled and nodded back, you could almost see the relief in her eyes that she hadn’t been grounded.
“But for you Theodora, I, I…Theo?”
During the speech Matisha had made, Theo had disappeared, annoyed at being shouted at, she had gone back up to her room. Matisha knew not to bother her; it would only cause more grief. Looking down at her daughter, she smiled knowing she had one good egg in the family.
“Kirra promise me that you wont grow up like Fate or Theo, I have enough work on my hands as it its.”
“Yes mommy I pwomise”
“That’s a good girl, now wash your hands, I shall make dinner in a second.”
With that Matisha walked out of the games room and back up the stairs, still holding the disc in her hands. In her room, Matisha placed the disc on her bed, and walked over to the bookcase, overflowing with thick dusty books. Looking through them, she came across the one she wanted.
“‘A modern day guide to monsters’.”
She muttered under her breath as she threw herself on the bed. Kicking of her shoes, Matisha opened the book and read a few pages of the guide.
“Hmm wow, these monsters are even more demanding than Fate is….I wonder if this disc will be any worse?”
Putting the book down, Matisha picked the disc up and studied it a bit more, it carvings were very unique, nothing she had seen before. She could only wonder what mysteries it held.
