Oh dear GODS! You've discovered an Egg! And now that you've found the Great Gift, as it were, the Grimorum's message has changed. It now seems to be giving you exact directions to hatch the Egg! The only way for it to mature enough to hatch, it states, is to apply to it a series of five specific ingredients, in a specific order. The list is as follows:
A grey sandcrystal
Green and Red flames
Morningdew
Low-density air
and
Iridium.
Once you have found all these, the Grimorum will reveal the formula to you.

On May 30th, 2004...
After reading the Grimorum (thanks to the unraveled Cypher), you've discovered what seem to be directions! The Grimorum assures you that a great gift awaits you in "the Floating Citadel", wherever that is. Hm! Better get searching! (Feel free to start when it pleases you!)

Personality:
Background: Emperial was born half-Rhean, half-human. Her human mother belonged to a nation at war with the government her Rhean father worked for. Her mother was unable to cope with the pressure of raising a feral Rhean and lacked the training necessary for the child's domestication. At the age of four, Emperial was left in her father's care and raised alongside adopted sister Lilem. Eventually, her father's government, known as the New Empire or Neo-Imperium, won the war.
ssssssssThe Piett family was one of the most highly-respected families in this government. Emperial's aunt, Lady Admiral EmileAmai Piett, led the Imperial forces in their vistory, and there was great pressure on the Pietts to appoint on of their own as the new Empress. At the age of fourteen, Emperial became the High Empress. She reigned for four years until her elder sister, adopted Piett family member EmileAmai Piett II (Lilem) was prepared to take the throne as Grand Empress. Lilem abdicated two years later to raise a family and a new Empress was chosen by the Ruling Council, the Free Empress, who is the current Empire's figurehead leader. (All power in the Empire is actually held between the military, under the leadership of Supreme Commander Lady EmileAmai Piett, and the Ruling Council, under the leadership of House Fourdr.) Naturally, as Empress (former of otherwise), Emperial holds rank in the Imperial military. Her effective rank is Line Captain and her command rank is Fleet Admiral. As next in line in the House of Piett, she bears the title Lady.
ssssssssAfter leaving the throne, Emperial decided to explore the world. She traveled a great deal and had many wonderful adventures, meeting dozens of new friends along the way. As is tradition among Rheans, she adopted a number of these new friends as new family. She now has a huge adopted family with brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, fathers, mothers, and even adopted children. Corvus, her feien bond, who accompanies her nearly everywhere nowadays, is one such adopted family member.

<img src="http://www.drowtales.com/galleries/album29/corvusfig1.gif" align="left">Nickname(s): Corvy
Species: Feien (Summoner)
Affiliation: Feien
Height: 7" (not including wings)
Weight: negligible
Age: 4 months
D.O.B.: February 6th
Hair: black
Eyes: black
Fav. Color: black
Fav. Food: grapes, crackers & cheese
Likes: history, power,
Dislikes: humanity,
Hobbies: reading, magic study, plotting to destroy enemies
Skills: Darkvision, Flight, Greater Darkness, Magic Detection, Levitation, Shield, Dark Energy Blast, Greater Casting, Panelemental, Head Start, Quck Maneuvering, Teleport, Form, Heal, Mimic Spell
Weaknesses: quick temper, repulsive personality, foolish, power-hungry
Personality: Corvus is one of the most unpleasant feien around. He's short of temper, frequently in a bad mood, and prefers to be left alone to fester. He's the resident grump of the group. All the other feien exist only to annoy him (from his point of view at least) and nearly every encounter with the others ends badly. He does not approve of having other people meddling in his affairs. He hates cute, fluffy, happy things (and that means you, Gogol). He's overly serious in nature, pessmistic, and is quite convinced tomorrow will be the last day of the feien race. One of these days, he may even be right.
ssssssssHe's also terribly arrogant. Not only does he stand alone as the sole summoner fairy, responsible for the fate of his species, but he's extremely intelligent and a natural whiz with magic. As a result, he tends to see other feien as beneath him or less than he is, and once someone engages him in conversation it usually becomes very obvious.
ssssssssThough he's quite introverted, Corvus's unwillingness to make friends is not a natural aspect of his personality, but something he imposed upon himself. He believes any friendships will only end poorly, and romance is doomed. He tries not to let himself get pulled into either, but when opportunity presents himself, he finds it hard to resist. He's not particularly wise and frequently loses his head in the moment. Often he goes from being friendly one day to cruel the next and rationalizes any accidental friendships with excuses. He feels a need to push people away from him before they get too close. After all, if they get too close they might uncover his secrets, most of which he's too ashamed of to speak about.
ssssssssAs a note, Corvus speaks English, Latin, some Spanish, some Japanese, and Rhea, an alien language. All these languages were gotten from Emperial. (Feien absorb a bit of their bond's knowledge and personality traits as a result of bonding.) Some other things Corvus gets from Em: a bit of narcissism, atrocious eating habits, phobia of touch, desire for massive amount of power (and the included corruption), fixation on specific people or items (closer to an obsession), a thirst for vengeance for insults both actual and perceived, a penchant for cruelty to others, love of reading.

Background: An "artificially constructed" feien, Corvus was the result of massive amounts of magical energy on a feien fairy plant, a magical plant from which all feien are birthed. Corvus was created in order to save his species. He possesses the rare ability to force a feien plant to create new blooms and can blend two existing feien with the plant, resulting in "offspring."
ssssssssFrom the start, Corvus's life has been rocky. He despised his role as summoner, feeling all the feien he brought into existence were spoiled and ungrateful, and had an immense dislike for humans. Unfortunately, he himself is bound to one. He was lucky. His bond, Emperial, is probably one of the few people around who would willingly put up with his antics. When he felt she wasn't paying him enough attention, he threw tantrums and ran away for a week. He fell in love with one of the feien he summoned, San, but was rejected in favor of another feien, Aileron, whom he hated. A third fairy, Seamus, blamed Corvus for an altercation in the shop (which was not Corvus's fault) and spread rumors and lies that ruined what little reputation Corvus had. And to top it all off, Corvus was immensely jealous of these new feien. As a summoner, he has more magical power than any of them, but has a significantly shorter lifespan.
ssssssssJealousy and rage consumed him for a long time. It all changed after his week spent running away. When he returned, Emperial took him back into her fold, no questions asked, and apologized for hurting his feelings. It was probably an apology he didn't really deserve, but that made it all the more important. He suddenly found that everyone he'd been convinced didn't care about him actually did care, and he discovered a very important friend: his mentor, Saisai. Thanks to Saisai's wisdom and patience, Corvus learned to better control his emotions and temper. Corvus also summoned a new feien for Emperial, Simon. He was worried at first about the new arrival, but when Simon emerged, Corvus found the boy to be one of his greatest joys in life.
ssssssssGradually, things started to slip into place for Corvus. He suddenly had his own little family consisting of himself, Saisai, Simon, and Em. He was happy and content with the world in general. He even found pleasure in the company of another feien, Yeande, filling the gap in his life he'd once reserved for San. Seamus, his old enemy, stopped showing up in the shop, and Corvus was able to repair most of his reputation. Best of all, he uncovered seven feien gemstones, artifacts possibly capable of prolonging his life. Things were good, the dark times were over, and Corvus finally felt happy about his life.
ssssssssAnd then Emperial snatched him from his living area and dragged him on this journey. Alas.

The Grassy Plain
A large, seemingly endless plain of thigh-high grass with a constant strong breeze. Just a big windy, grassy plain. Really, really big. It was the location of the introduction to the Grimorum Quest.

The Wind Room
Located off to the side of the main library, the Wind Room is a small, round room with eight short, spoke-like hallways off of it and a domed ceiling. There is a constant breeze. With several hundreds of books spread along the many shelves and a ladder, it looks much like the main library. When first encountered, the room was sealed, but it has since been opened by the Grimorum of Ages and is accessable from the main library. Once the wind was released, it went around and tidied up the main library, returning books to their shelves and sweeping away any dust and debris. Besides the constant breeze, the room is unremarkable.

The Library of Souls

The Orthgoud Mountains
Known more generally as "the spine of the dragons," the Orthgoud Mountains are a massive, rocky mountain range located in a place unknown. There seems to be no signs of inhabitation for miles, though looks can be deceiving. The mountains gained their nickname for the impressive spiky profile the range forms and their inhospitable conditions. The mountainsides are steep, rocky, and devoid of plants and animals, with the exception of some scattered lichen. Even the lichen seem to find the mountains to be a hard place to tolerate.

There is no discernable path from the bountain base to the peaks, but a path does exist. It is only there when it needs to be found. For those who possess the need, the path offers safe passage, tall rocks on either side guarding the questor from the elements, including the oppressive winds that haunt the mountainsides.

At the top of the mountain is a giant hole. It stretches down into darkness through which not even the strongest eyes can penetrate. This is known as the Dragon's Maw, and legend says it is direct passage to hell. The hole's circumferance is almost completely circular, the first sign of it unnatural origins. It is in the center of this maw that the Floating Citadel lies, ringed by floating stones.

Emperial and Corvus, having arrived from places unknown, found themselves on a giant windy plain, nothing visible for miles. After some wandering around, they were separated when Corvus was blown away by the wind. While attempting to locate Emperial, Corvus was blown up into the sky to a place unknown.

Emperial remained on the plain. Thanks to a knack for solving puzzles and some geometry, she managed to find her way to the Library of Souls, where Corvus was waiting for her.

Unfortunately, they found themselves trapped inside a windy room of books that did not seem to be the main library. After much puzzling, they determined one of the books to be missing and surmised the missing book was the tome which would grant them escape from the room. That left them with no apparent means of escape.

As luck would have it, while attempting to find a wall that Corvus might teleport through, Emperial attracted the attention of Rose and her Grimorum, Blinky. Blinky managed to re-open the wall, and in a giant gust of wind, Emperial and Corvus were freed.

After a round of introductions, Rose led them back to where she had entered the library, but the exit to the sewers was gone. The searched around for it a bit until Emperial deduced there might be some sort of trick to finding the exit, much like the tricks necessary to discover the Wind Room and escape it. She tried to use sheets of paper to determine the wind's direction, but the papers only blew back in her face. After a sheet blew into Corvus, he realized there was a magical energy nearby. He pinpointed its location, where he found Em's missing glasses and her Grimorum.

A giant gust of wind arose when Em touched the Grimorum. When they turned around, there was a new exit. It took them to the Orthgoud Mountains, a desolate, rocky place. The entrance to the Library disappeared behind them, but not before Emperial was given another book: a dark leather journal.

The Wind Grimorum included instructions to journey to the mountains' highest point. Luckily, there was a rough pathway leading up the mountainside, and after several hours of hiking, they reached the top just as the sun was setting.
