Q: What the hell happened to the economy? Why are my items worth billions and trillions, while my gold is essentially dirt?
A: Long Story Short - New management took over, Gaia Cash took over, Gold Generators happened, and the hyperinflation's unlikely to stop.
Long Story Long - Check out this thread for a cute comic (featuring Coco and Kiki), if you'd like to find out more.
Long Story Longer - Please read the threads linked in the "What's Next" section of this thread. If you've only been away after 2013, just the information about Gold Generators and Hyperinflation will do. If you've been gone longer than that, say, before 2008, you'll want to start from reading about RIGs and Aquariums, which is where the first round of inflation began.

Q: Where did zOMG go?
A: They closed it in October 2014. I want it back. Others want it back. Management doesn't like it, or claims that it has some fatal errors. (Yeah, yeah, they made Towns 2, so why not zOMG:Reloaded?) Read the announcement here, or PM me if you wanna boo hoo hoo a little. zOMG is back! All hail Lanzer!

Q: Why are there so many announcements everyday? And it's all cash-shop related?
A: Good question. We don't know, and we wish they'd just compile it all and make just one announcement a day. Stalk GCD and read the daily update compilation threads, if you can't be bothered with the announcements

Alternatively, you can get Gaia Upgrade to auto-read/clean-up your announcements.

Q: What happened to __________ forum/subforum?
A: They've done a few rounds of archiving and deletions. Read this thread for details regarding the latest amendments.

Q: What are RIGs/LQRs/GGs?
A: Gaia has much more than just Donation Items now (they're now known as Monthly Collectibles), and Evolving Items are no longer the mainstay of the cash shop items. Here are some new item classes.
Random Item Generators (RIGs) - Cash shop lottery items that grant you new, recoloured items, or items from previous RIGs. Also known as Chance Items (CIs). (Credit: Sailor Tin Nyanko)
Limited Quantity Items/Recolours - As the name suggests, Cash Shop items/recolours that come in a limited quantity.
Gold Generators - Cash shop lottery items that grant you either massive amounts of gold (think billions) or a rare item.
Bundles - Basically a package deal, consisting of RIGs, GGs, and/or Recolours.
Random Bundle Generators - A RIG for bundles. (Credit: MingSao)

Q: How do I get gold now?
A: If you have loads of old items, just liquify some and vend away. Or you could get acquainted with Lake Kindred, or try out Alchemy.

Q: What's Loyal's Bazaar?
A: A limited access gold shop. Login for 30 days to gain access. (Doesn't need to be consecutive.) Read this thread for the items in the shop.

Q: Tektek's gone! What do I do?!
A: Try Gaia's Avatar Builder. It goes down sometimes, but it's something.

I've found that I've had three MAJOR hiatuses (hiateses? hiatii?) that lasted an upwards of 20 months. Dunno what prompted me to quit in the first place, or why I decided to come back, but in either case I had to dig through hundreds of announcements. The first time I came back there were so many new features it took me a full week to actually reorganize before I decided to repost again.

Honestly, two of the things throwing me for a loop right now are these Kin things, and the loss of tektek. Including some resources for that would be super useful.

I will say I do kinda like Gaia's Avatar builder, even if it is kinda glitchy / clunky.

The #1 method for making gold without buying GCash now seems to be Lake Kindred.

I myself have been away and back again quite a few times, gone for months, back for a couple days. Especially over the past 3 years or so. Because nothing's really catching me or making me want to stay.

Like you, I felt completely lost, because all the information is just...everywhere. And I just couldn't be bothered to dig.

Haha, yes. I said I would!

Yeah, I was really lost when I realised that tektek's gone. And honestly, the Avatar Builder's nowhere near as good. But at least they're trying to, so that's great.

Lake Kindred is way too grindy for my liking - I don't know how others do it, but I can't find the motivation to keep leveling my kins.
