Since the creation of the world, there have been extremely rare cases of humans born with abilities ascendant to that of any normal human. These humans were able to manipulate objects with their minds, carry great strength, and would age much slower than the rest. Only six known cases of these 'superhumans', who were later named 'elementals', were recorded. Many disbelieve the stories told about these elementals, because they were sure they were impossible, but the truth is they weren't at all as far-fetched as the world had come to call them.

But then what had so widely come to disbelief was finally brought into question once again. A number of humans were born over the course of the past three decades that appeared to carry the traits described in these stories, leaked stories of which began to cause a bit of panic around the world. Some of these humans discovered their abilities when they were young, and began to use them for their bidding. Some were bad, some were good, but the rest had yet to discover their abilities. The parents of some of them gave it their best efforts to conceal the unnatural identity of their children, while others made no attempt to carry out such an action.

While the elementals conscious of their abilities gained more skill with them, those oblivious to them remained inexperienced. This initially wasn't such a big problem, but on the day of the new year, some of these elementals suddenly grew intensely aggressive. This raised concern all over the world, particularly in areas with close proximity to the elementals, but what they didn't know is that the superhumans' aggression was directly primarily toward the other elementals. Despite the fact that they lived all over the world, these elementals made hard efforts to find others like them in order to fight them to the death. This ultimately would involve all of the elementals, and quickly became known worldwide as the Battle of the Elements.

From that point on, every decision made even by the elementals that didn't grow such spontaneous aggression could and would determine whether they lived or died. All of their lives had changed forever, and the events that would lead to the deaths of all but one of them were set in motion. Even the destinations of the elementals would seem to have been predetermined, as either luck, coincidence, or premeditation would put them in contact with one another. From then on, their fate would be in their own hands and nobody else's. The most prominent question among them would soon become very clear...

      ::⋅⋅⋅⋅» Life
          xxThe abilities of the elemental of Life are based on something called a 'life count'. Generally, every healthy human has a life count between 60 and 70. The maximum amount of life any living creature can carry at once is 100. Not even the elemental of life can surpass this amount. The elemental of Life is able to leech the life count from other individuals, but in a healthy state, he is only about to absorb up to about 35 points from another individual before reaching his or her ceiling, thus the elemental of Life cannot take the life of another individual simply by willing it unless either he or the other individual is injured enough. When a person is injured, their life count is reduced based in proportion to the severity of their injury. In some cases, such as when a person has cancer or internal bleeding, or even some external injuries, the person's life count will 'leak', so to speak, until it reaches zero.
          xxThe elemental of Life is able to heal others, but must use some of his own life count in order to do so. In some cases, the healing can patch cases of internal bleeding, and would allow the individual to slowly replenish their life count until it reaches a stable number. The elemental of Life is also able to resurrect the dead, but to bring life back to a person, it takes at least half of their own life count, and then would take more in order to patch 'life leaks', if any, so the person could replenish their life back to a stable number. However, resurrection is only effective if the dead person has died in the past 3 days. After that point, their soul would have fully departed from the world and they would no longer be able to return unless the elemental of Life would give his own life in return. The longer a person has been dead up until that point, the more life count from the elemental of Life it would take in order to bring them back to the living, as more of their soul would have left the body.


      ::⋅⋅⋅⋅» Death
          xxWhen any living creature dies, its spirit lingers with the body for just over three days before it has fully left the universe. When an elemental dies, it is the same case, but their elemental power does not also disappear. It is instead transferred to the person who killed them, and takes just over three days to complete the transfer. However, when an elemental has completely absorbed another elemental's element, they do not acquire the ability to manipulate that element. Instead, their own element increases in power, allowing said elemental the ability to accomplish feats easier than they would have previously been able to, or the ability to do things with their element that they were previously unable to do.
          xxIf an elemental commits suicide, their soul will remain in their body until their element has been successfully transferred to another individual, thus making the resurrection of the elemental permanently possible without the elemental of Life having to sacrifice himself. However, revival of the elemental only to kill them for their element is not the only way to acquire their element. The same end can be accomplished by the first person to make physical dermal contact with the dead elemental. Such an action would trigger the transferring of an element to the person who touched the deceased elemental as well as allowing the deceased elemental's soul to move on. In cases such as this or when an elemental is killed by a non-elemental, it is possible for a non-elemental to take the powers of an elemental.


      ::⋅⋅⋅⋅» Life and Death
          xxIf the 3-day period after the death of a non-elemental has expired, and the elemental of Life gives his or her own life to save the deceased individual, the element of the elemental of Life would be transfer to the murderer of the individual being revived, thus increasing the power of their own element. In cases where no other person was responsible for the death of the resurrected individual, such as suicide or cancer, the element of the elemental of Life would be transferred to the resurrected individual.


      ::⋅⋅⋅⋅» Undeath
          xxThe abilities of the elemental of Undeath are based on his or her own life count. In order to control the dead, the elemental of Undeath extends his own life count to do the bodies of the dead. This differs from the abilities of the elemental of Life in that the elemental of Undeath still holds the life count that has been distributed to the dead, thus allowing him to use the dead as his 'puppets'. However, if the brain in the body of the dead is still available, the elemental of Undeath can manipulate it to cause the dead to do his will without him having to keep a constant control over them. The same concept would apply to inanimate objects if the elemental of death were to use that ability on them. In all cases, the elemental of Undeath can also use his ability to switch bodies with the dead, see through their eyes, and acquire knowledge they carried (again, provided that the brain is still available).
          xxBecause of the extension of his or her own life to the objects or dead being controlled, the damage done to the bodies being controlled by the elemental of Undeath would deplete from the life count he or she has allocated to the 'puppets'. For example, if the elemental of Undeath were to summon an army of undead, and all of these undead were to be destroyed, the elemental of Undeath would have also been heavily damaged, though neither physically nor mentally. Additionally, when the elemental of Undeath is injured, he is able to use less of the dead, because he would have less of his own life count to extend to a dead body. Similarly, the elemental of Undeath must use his own energy in order to control the dead, and thus would grow tired more quickly based on the number of undead under his or her control.


      ::⋅⋅⋅⋅» Summoning
          xxThe abilities of the elemental of Summon are also based on the life count of the elemental. In order to summon a Summon, the elemental of Summon must sacrifice a certain amount of his own life count based on the size and power of the Summon he or she is summoning. A large dragon, for example, would require a large amount of the elemental's life count, in some cases more the two-thirds of it, while summoning a troll would only require about an eighth of it. When a Summon is defeated, or killed, in a sense, they would return to the place where they take refuge, and would not be able to be summoned again by the same person. Similarly, if a summon is injured to any extent, their injuries would not heal while they were not Summoned to this world, while they would normally fully heal if they did stay in this world. If the life count of Summon were to be depleted severely, and then unsummoned, it would still require the same amount of life to summon him or her as if they were still in full health. If the elemental of Summon were to be killed by a non-elemental and the elemental power was transferred to said murderer, all of the Summons previously held by the former Summon elemental, including the 'dead' ones, would be returned to full health. If a Summon was to kill an elemental, the element of the deceased elemental would be transferred to the Summon, who would carry it until they are unsummoned. At which time, the element would then be transferred to the Summon elemental. However, if the Summon carried an element while in battle and was 'killed', the element would be transferred from the Summon to the being who defeated it, whether or not it was an elemental.

          ..:xx Romance is not discouraged, but I don't want any indecent exposure or other suggestive scenes in this roleplay.
          ..:xx You may use any text color for your character, but do not choose bright colors or you will be asked to change them.

          ..:xx If you have multiple characters, use a different post for each character.

          ..:xx I don't mind if you swear once in a while, but it literally doesn't need to be in every post. Try to save it for serious situations, like your character just realizes they have three hours left to live or something.


      ::⋅⋅⋅⋅» Profile
          ..:xx Send your profile to dehydromon via private message and title it “BotE”. Do not post it yourself as this will result in deletion of your character profile. I will add your profile to the profile thread if it fits the necessary criteria.
          ..:xx Unless you have been given special permission, or one of your characters has been killed off in the roleplay, do not submit more than one elemental character profile and two regular profiles. The worst case scenarios is that it could kill the roleplay if you have seventeen characters and end up having to disappear for six months.
          ..:xx Make sure your submission include a picture that is at least 400 pixels wide by 300 pixels high. It is also highly encouraged that you use anime pictures to show your character's appearance.
          ..:xx Also make sure your character's traits are consistent. It doesn't make any sense for an African fisherman to have a name like "Katsutoshi Hikumoto", nor does it make sense for an Icelandic accountant to happen to carry around an Asian katana everywhere he goes.
          ..:xx Be original. The story is supposed to initially take place in multiple parts of the world, so there shouldn't be a whole legion of elementals all from the same place. Two or three can be from the same general area, but please try to pick an origin that isn't the same as everyone else.
          ..:xx After you reserve a position, you will have a maximum of three days to complete a profile for that position before the reservation is lifted. Once your profile is posted, you will have exactly seven days to make a post before your profile will be removed.
          ..:xx The roleplay will take place in the eastern United States. If you don't want to start in that area, your character needs to find a way to get there.


      ::⋅⋅⋅⋅» Suggestions
          ..:xx Something I haven't seen before in a roleplay is flashbacks that flesh out your character's history. If you have something you'd like to fill in for your character's past, but don't want the other roleplayers to know it right from the get-go, leave it out of the biography section and reveal it through a flashback later in the roleplay. There's nothing better than an interesting plot twist. Just make sure the rest of us know that what you're posting is a flashback (Maybe use a grayscale picture with a separate post, change your posting color, use a different posting style, indent the flashback text, etc.)
          If this becomes popular enough, I will make a post on the front page that chronologically organizes the events that happen in flashbacks.

It is the thirteenth most populated town in Greece, and is home to approximately 140,000 residents. Among these residents is a powerful crime boss with connections to the local mafia and control over at least four large casino complexes. Volos is also the home of Virgil O'Martin, the Blood elemental.

"The world as we knew it ended. Over. Gone. Finished. All that remains are the ruins, the dredges of society that survived. A few buildings, a few weapons, a few people, and the urge to save yourself at any cost. Our story starts a month after the initial incident. Where has this all taken you? Where are you still going?

It started as a military weapon, meant to kill entire countries of people. By the time they realized what went wrong, it was too late. It killed people all right, but they didn’t exactly stay dead. The radiation, the fumes, the disease, spread across the globe, leaving nothing untouched. You got lucky. Nothing prevented this disease except having an immune system that simply couldn’t be harmed or infected. A small, unknown mutation kept you from becoming one of them.

The living dead are not as mindless as you might think. As fast and agile as when they were alive, these zombies are not bumbling idiots. Though rotting flesh does inhibit them to a certain extent, they can still be very quick and deadly. Being bitten will not infect you with the curse of undeath, but all the bacteria the rotting corpses carry around might kill you just the same. Dismemberment seems the best way to kill them, though enough well placed bullets often does the job as well. The undead do not speak and so far seem unable to communicate with each other. Noise attracts them easily. They are usually unable to climb anything beyond simple stairs and have problems with door handles and knobs. The study of these zombies is not well documented however, and there might still be surprises involving the undead.

There is no cure, no safe haven, no light at the end of the tunnel. This is your life now, and all that’s left is to survive. From the disease itself, from the living dead, from your fellow survivors who no longer have a society telling them it’s a bad idea to kill people.

You have all found yourselves in Morrowville, Kansas. Any number of reasons could have brought you here, but in this tiny, almost deserted town you will truly begin on the path to survive this hell hole of a world. Do you have what it takes? Time to find out."
