These are the Rules and Updates for this thread. Please read these carefully to know what is happening in the shop, what behavior is expected from you, and what results from disobeying the rules in the shop.

RULES

o.1; Do Not Partake In Any Douchebaggery
I simply CANNOT emphasize this rule enough! (Hence the underline.) Be respectful of ALL, especially staff and the shop itself. The folks here do not tolerate people being cliquey, jerk-facey or generally bad natured. In line with that, do not start or participate in a fight in the thread. If you are found having done so you will be drawn and quartered severely punished. If there is a problem you feel the need to hash out, please take it to PM. If there is a trouble maker, kindly PM a staff member.

o.2; Do Not Abscond With Any Established Graphic Images
Don't steal the art. Or the concept. Or anything of that sort. The racing system is ours too! Not only will you look like a big fat jerk it's against Gaia's ToS. Also do not edit the art in any way for your own purposes. This means no santa hats at christmas and no coloring on our lines without permission. Anything you do to change an image from it's original form is not allowed.

o.3; Do Not Attempt To Accrue A Revenue From These Avians
Don't try to sell our stuff. Don't try to sell your babies, your greens, your nuts, your eggs, or pets at ANY stage of life! If you no longer want your pet, or do not want anything from the shop that you currently own, please contact us so that we can redistribute the pets to those who want them and refund any greens or nuts that you payed for.

o.4; We Own This Place, Bitches
That means we can change rules, prices, not sell to you, sell to someone you don't like, etc etc. and you'll just have to deal. When you own your own shop, you can make your own rules.

Blacklist:
If you are here, you have been very bad. We make "clones" of and essentially re-sell all of your pets. You may never post here or in any of Nyow's threads again.

UPDATES

May 10th; After our most recent event and dice game... We're getting ready for a Spring Fling event! If you have an adult bird get ready to watch the feathers fly in LOOOOOOVE! If you bird hasn't grown up yet, don't worry, there will be a raffle and a flatsale too!

Mar 16: After much work and many set backs our real life birds event is complete! The event will begin on March 20th and have a large number of events including three games (two for legends), a fully growing flatsale and a raffle, all featuring the works of Yunachu our talented new colorist and Tasinei our dedicated certist! The event begins on March 20th!

Mar 12: After a hiatus of rather epic proportions (See pages 50 and 78 for details), Golden Stables is now back in the game! While Tom Industries has gone AWOL and Konani moves into the position of guest-colorist we welcome in Tasinei, our certist and Yunachu, our newest full-time colorist! Her wonderful coloring skills will be shown off during our next event which is coming very soon!

Real life birds are almost here! Keep checking back for specific details!

Shop Setting, Chocobo Growth and Types!

Golden stables is set in the world of Final Fantasy 7 but has some cross overs into the other games. This is a world full of magic, weapons and strange creatures.
The most noteble of these is the Chocobo. Chocobos are eight foot tall birds that are generally yellow and of great mass and speed. They are extremely important for a number of things. They are worked much like horses and taste a little like chicken are used by individuals for transport, pulling ploughs and carriages, in battle as powerful and vicious steeds and many other things. Among thier uses they are most commonly used these days by nobility and wealthy folks for racing. The breeding, training and racing of chocobos is an ancient art, but only recently has it grown in such popularity with those of a more noble class. The mysteries of breeding a high-quality chocobo are still deeply hidden along with the proper way to breed the most legendary of all chocobos, the Golden Ocean Chocobo. Will you be the one to unlock the secrets?

Growth Chart
Chocobos can have up to five stages of growth, but most only obtain three. How long your chocobo takes to grow depends on your activity in the thread... If you never show up it could take a very long time indeed!

Stage one, Egg;
Which came first, the Chocobo or the Egg? It doesn't really matter, because an egg means a bouncing baby Chicobo is on the way! This stage is only obtained through breedings.
Unisex, Stage Lasts <2 Weeks.

Stage two; Chicobo
You now have a bouncing baby bird! .....D'awww! Too small to do much of anything but cheep plaintively, this is no time to start training, but it doesn't last very long. Enjoy the cuteness while you can! Most growing chocobos are sold here.
Unisex, Stage lasts <1 week.

Stage three; Yearling
Your chocobo is now a bit older. At this point you can see it's strengths and weaknesses and it's stats are shown in the guild. You can begin training it and feeding it greens at this point but it cannot race until it is an adult for two weeks!
Gendered, Stage lasts <4 weeks.

Stage four; Adult
My goodness! Time flies! You now have a large and gorgeous bird! Your big beauty can do everything now, from race and train to work and breed! Time for it to get out there and discover the world with you! Enjoy!

Stage five; Special Class
Some chocobos just don't fit into the mold. Some chocobos go beyond the mold and excel. Some chocobos... Are special. If yours has obtained this stage, that means yours is one of those few exceptional birds that manages to go above and beyond the call of duty to an extreme that has put them in the top class of racers. This bird is a legend - and then some! It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication to get this far and you will be immortalized forever amongst the best of the best! Congratulations!

Racing! How-tos and Whys!

There is a somewhat complicated racing system for this shop but it is NOT REQUIRED by any means. We have a very complicated but thorough explination that can be found here in our Racing Guide, but this is the short short version just to give you the general concept. It's suggested you read the full version if you intend to take up racing your bird.

Why race? Chocobo racing boosts fertility in your birds and is required for obtaining the final stage. It can also win you prizes if you win a race such as gold, more pets or shop discounts! Breeding chocobos that have been raced is also the only way to obtain a legendary chocobo outside of paying a VERY large amount in custom fees.

Each bird has four stats. You can find out your bird's stats at the guild in the owners list. To raise those stats you can roleplay or there are special items you can buy as well. Those can be bought in the guild from Choco Billy's Store.
During the races, an owner generates two random numbers per race track segment. These represent additional time it takes your chocobo to get around that portion of the track. If you don't post within five minutes of an announced track segment or mis generate a number you get penalized. The whole race takes around 30-60 minutes depending on how slow people are about posting.
Then comes the staff doing a little math jig. We take the numbers you generated and your chocobos stats and plug them into a shiney little math formula and out pops the results for the race! Lowest number wins! So basically it's a random number genertaing game.

To keep the races fair, they are divided into a number of different races "classes" based on thier stats and how many races they have won.
X Class - Any chocobo that has never raced.
C Class - Any chocobo with a speed stat of <85 and a stamina stat of <450. Also any chocobo with <75 Intelect and Compatibility
B Class - Any chocobo with a speed stat of <105 and a stamina stat of <750. Also any chocobo that has won five or more races in C class.
A Class - Any chocobo with a speed stat of <150 and a stamina stat of <999. Also any chocobo that has won seven or more races in B class.
S Class - Any chocobo with a speed stat of <225 and a stamina stat of <1250. Also any chocobo that has won twenty or more races in A class.

There are also a number of "Legendary" chocobos that get bonuses over certain areas of the track.
Green, or Mountain Chocobos; Boost over rocky terrains.
Blue, or River Chocobos; Boost over shallow waters.
Black, or Shadow Chocobos; Combination of Mountain and River abilities.
White, or Solitary Chocobos; Boost on randomization factors.
Gold, or Ocean Chocobos: Combination of Black abilities and Boost over Deep Waters.
Most of these chocobos can make it to at least A class with little effort.

Entering or Wagering on a Race
Before a race starts, a track will be shown displaying terrain changes and length. Most tracks have five segments. At this point registration starts and lasts for a week or two, or until all race slots are filled. Ussually five slots in a race. Follow the link below to the racing thread to fill out a form and enter your chocobo in a race! At this point it is about a week before the race, and bets may be placed!

You may also place bets on chocobos! (No fear! This is activity that IS within gaia ToS and works like a lottery.) There are two types of bets that can be read about in the racing guide. Depending on how much you bet, you get that same percentage back of the profits after the house takes it's cut should your picks win! The house cut is 1/3rd the profits. So a race bet may look like this;
Person A bets 500G on Chocobos 1 and 2. Person B bets 1000G on Chocobos 1 and 2. Three others bet 1K on different chocobos. This creates a pot of 4500G total. Chocobos 1 and 2 win so the house returns the inital bets of 500G and 1000G to person A and B. Then the house takes it's cut which is 1/3rd, so 1000G. This leaves 2K to be split between person A and B. Person A gets a 660G profit for having placed 1/3rd of the wining pot and person B gets the remaining 1340 profit for betting 2/3rds of the winning pot!
The house will always wager 1K on a chocobo in the race, selected at random or on the house's bird, as an ante. Should the house win with other players, they do not take a cut of winnings but do reclaim thier ante. If no player wins, the house keeps all bets placed.

Pricing and how to get your Chocobo.

These are the ever-important parts of getting your bird. We provide pets through all of the most common means. Please check this post for an over-view on all the basic rules and prices. All trades should be sent to the Mule. Keep in mind that mules are strictly prohibited in any form for either owning or purchasing Chocobos! And we WILL find out if you are using one! All times listed are in EST/-5:00GMT, and if payment is not reciecved in the appropriate amount of time, the bird will be re-sold elsewhere. Please also remember to use the forms listed in the appropriate posts for ordering.

Flatsales; These are normally speed but occasionally may be flaffle style. Pets are 5K adult or 7K growing! They are never edited and are almost always wild birds. You may not at any point edit your post during a flatsale. If you do, you will be disqualified. Payment is due within 24 hours and you may only win one during a flatsale. You may also buy a pet for ONE friend but the proxy must be in a seperate post! We allow a direct-proxy where you pay for the pet but it gets certed for someone else. It's between you and your proxied friend to discuss when you get paid back!
Raffles; Raffles are commonly pets with a theme, light edits, or heavy patterns. They could also be something specific such as a specific type of wild bird. Most will be farm chocobos. Raffle tickets are normally 100G each and payment is due within 24 hours after purchase, or before the raffle starts. You may buy tickets for as many friends as you wish as well.
Auctions; Auctions are heavilly edited birds of an exceptional variety. Cosplays, legends, or birds with high stats or other unusual traits most commonly show up here. Auctions frequently come with restrictions such as they cannot race or breed. Any restrictions on the bird will be listed with the auction. Auction payment is due within 48 hours of winning, and you may co-bid with one other person. There is a 12 hour snipe guard because sniping sucks! Starting bids are almost always 25K, the minimum increment is 5K and there may be an AB depending on the auction. There are NO auction proxies allowed but if you win an auction you may gift the bird to another.
Breedings and Customs; Custom slots open or close once a month per colorist. Some may not open depending on the colorist. We can't tell you exactly WHEN customs will open because it depends on that month's workload for the individual colorist. Breeding slots are the same but require being pre-paid by obtaining a nut. Nuts can be purchased at Chocobilly's shop. You can find pricing for the individual types of customs in the guild as well as any colorist workshops. You may only order one custom and one breeding per month!
Freebie Events; Oh believe me. These will happen. If you stayed around the shop for a VERY long time you could breed a gold chocobo all on your own completely for free. Everything will be given out for free here from birds of all sorts to greens and nuts. Don't beg, stick around, talk, participate and you may find yourself with an army of free chocobos!

Flatsales! (Oooh. They're so... Flat!)

Flatsale birds are 5K adult, 7K growing. They are also either speed or flaffle based! Please send the trade ASAP after winning a bird!
Speed sales will be annouced in-thread by the mule with a post five minutes before the flatsale at which point there is no posting allowed. When the mule posts "GO!" the flatsale starts.
Flaffles will generally run around a week at which point everyone who wishes for a bird may post a form listing the prefrences in birds that they would like. Birds may be excluded if not desired. At the end, the birds are awarded "raffle" style.

Raffles! Take a chance!

Raffle tickets are 100G each. You may buy as many as you want but may not pick your numbers. In most cases, for every 500 tickets sold, we will add another bird, but you may only win one bird per raffle!
Raffle tickets are sold up until one hour before the raffle, and all payment must be recieved before the raffle starts or the trade will be cancelled and becomes void. The mule will ask for quiet in the thread a few minutes before the drawing, and then generate a random number for each bird to decide the winner!
