JAVA Hiring Thread

Hello, and welcome to the hiring thread for JAVA, a free art pricing and criticism thread right here in the PAS. Our purpose is to help not only by pricing artists, but also by educating them on ways to improve their art (which we can all use from time to time).

We're always looking for more volunteers!

How the Thread Will Work

There will be several categories for which artists can apply:
(You can only apply for ONE category. Read the rules. >.>)

cg
traditional
cartooning
realism
graphics
expensive
line art
anthromorphic/animals
pixelated
animations

(If you can think of another category that you are interested in, let me know.)

No matter what category you are in, you can critique any and all art. These are just to let people know who is best for what. Non-members can critique but will not have a tip box. There will be a maximum of three artists per category, and my hope is that there will be at least one in each. When you apply, think about who else is applying for that category and how many positions are left, and which categories need more attention.

**Note: If you wish to apply as "no category," "any" or "not sure," you will be listed as a General Helper. These people will not get their own full section but will be listed in the front page as frequent helpers. A general helper still has much say in the thread, especially if they post often, but may not be able to post as much information as to their own art and preferences.

The Tip Box

Each individual volunteer will have an optional tip box, so that people know they can tip for good advice. Art appraisal is valued in the real world, so why not here? Just know that nobody will be FORCED to tip, ever. This is completely determined by the generosity of the customer, and I know that many people will not tip.

Requirements

To apply, you must be online at least twice a week, preferably more. There are no artistic requirements to be a volunteer, but it always helps to get people who know from experience.

Personality wise, the applicant must be courteous but willing to give useful critique. ("Your art sucks" is not acceptable, but saying "I would not buy it because it needs more anatomy work" is fine.) No begging for tips, and no arguments over prices please. Anybody in any category can critique any and all art, and there may be a difference in opinions. Everybody's opinion counts.

PM or no: I'd prefer to answer on the thread. But if you have issues that you prefer not to go on the thread, PM will be OK.
anything else: I can seem harsh, but that's just me assuming that you know what's good about your work and only need people pointing out what is wrong with it.
Also, pricing can be unconventional. Check with other people.

good with: Graphics that are seen around the Gaia world. Thread sets, profiles, post layouts, and anything that's Design related. I work best with Adobe Photoshop, though I've been told that GIMP has more or less the same functions, so there as well.
bad with: Teaching people how to code cause it takes aeons for me to explain these universal language ( profiles and BBCode ). Anything related to Illustrator, Fireworks, etc. I'm mainly a Photoshop designer.
favorite tutorials: I mainly google things up or search some specific tutorials off
art: Timeliness Graphic Shop
how often you are on gaia: Everyday, for two hours at least. Unless I have assignment due, etc - still a student.
how long you've been on gaia: 2007 - 2012
PM or no: Yes, they can't PM me, but preferable if they ask in the thread instead since my PM box is overloading.
anything else: I'm most likely to critique design style overall.
