Welcome to Mysticism, an art contest devoted to the fantasy world created by yours truly, Helina.
Mysticism is an original concept story that is over 10 years old and is my very own brain-child. The story consists of several original characters whose lives are intertwined in complicated relationships, adventures, and hardships. Over the next five years, Mysticism will be put into comic format.
This art contest is my last farewell to GaiaOnline. I have been absent from Gaia already, and figured to host a large art contest and take a final bow. I am very excited, because this is my first and only art contest. I hope to get a wonderful turn out.

Thank you all for entering into my contest--it has been a long and really fun ride! All of you are very talented and I am honored to have you all participate!
As you noted from the first page, the awards ceremony is tomorrow (July 20th) at 8PM PST. I have boot-camp, school, then work and I'll be pretty swamped until all that is said and done! So, be present at that time and watch the magic!

July 04, 2010...AS OF RIGHT NOW, THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED TO NEW ENTRIES! So, for those of you who entered in your WIP, finish them up! They need to be turned in to me by July 18th! So, get those creative juices flowing!
So here's an update for you all...
1-- Lucky for you all! None of the categories had to be cut back. As long as all (or most) of the WIPs are finished in time for the deadline, the categories are just fine! So get them finished!
2-- In terms of the final bump prize, it appears you would have to get over 1000 bumps to get close to winning! So far, several bumpers have passed 1000 bumps (crazy)! This is the current standing! Remember, there is no bump prize for the month of July, but you are free to bump up until July 20th (in which I will be awarding the final bump prize) so that you can further your bump count towards the overall prize.

June.04.2010...As some of you have noticed, the contest has been voted to be extended by one month. It was a very close poll, and a decision was won by literally one vote (34 to 33). Because of that, I have no choice but to grant you all what you voted for! So here is my major update for you all...
1-- I still need people to inform me if their pieces are to be counted in the Song Inspiration category. If you used a song that I provided, you need to simply tell me what piece (if you had entered more than one) and what song. Simple as that.
2-- Several categories were saved with the WIP entries. Thank you so much guys for all your rushed entries, despite the extension. So far, these categories are looking like I will have to cut their prizes. I have decided against eliminating the category all-together simply because people have entered into them. However, this could change because of the extension (with more people finishing their pieces, etc).

3-- I will not be offering another bump prize for the month of July. I do not wish to mess with the current tally of prize stuff. June will be the absolute last bumping month. The overall bump prize will be given out the same time as the awards ceremony. Although you will not be rewarded for July, I will allow you to bump through July to count towards the overall prize (which is 500k).
4-- Also, I want to remind people to not PM me. There's been a recent influx of PMs and it's starting to irritate me. I understand the need for secrecy and privacy, but I specifically mentioned in the rules to not. Please PM me if you absolutely must.
5-- These categories below are safe from prize cuts, etc. They may not have the required amount of finished entries to keep it alive, but there's enough WIPs for me to believe that by the end of the contest, the categories will be saved.

May.26.2010...ALERT ALERT ALERT (I need to come up with more of this panic announcement headers, maybe next should be WARNING or something rofl )!
As you can see, I have changed the poll to a general "should I extend the contest". Before any decisions are made, I want your guys' say. Because you all have been with the contest for all this time and have completed/are working on pieces for it. I feel like you should have a say above all of what I say. :] Democracy at it's best (except I do have the final say...). So anyway, please vote in the poll by June 4th, because that's when I will decide whether to extend it or...not!
Also, I am sorry for not paying that much attention before, but I need everyone who submitted a piece for the "song inspiration" category to tell me what piece to be entered into that and what song was inspired out of my list provided. Because right now, it is extremely slim pickins' that that category will stay. And please, be honest. Don't just pick a song and go "oh yeah, this sounds good". Because I am in LOVE with these songs and although you all get different interpretations, if your piece doesn't really fit the song (like an incredibly happy piece for Shinedown's "45", yeah...no) then it won't count. But, if you did have inspiration from the songs I provided, let me know so I can enter you into the category and maybe save it!
May.13.2010... IMPORTANT!! June 4th is fast approaching and that means EVERYONE WHO HAS A WIP, NEEDS TO SEND IT TO ME. I don't care what it looks like, or maybe you still have just a sketch, I NEED your WIP so I can decide whether to extend the contest (due to lack of entries) or eliminate or cut the prizes for some categories. So please, get on the ball and send me those WIPs! It is really for your benefit!
March.31.2010... IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT GUYS. As the months go by, we're growing closer and closer to June, leaving us 3 months to finish our pieces for this contest! BUT, we have a dilemma. Almost ALL of the prize categories have NOT met the minimum entry requirement! This is in the rules, guys, so I'm not just making this up. I will DELETE a category if there is not enough entries by June 4th. I am sorry if you entered in a category that gets deleted, but this is A LOT of gold to award and I expect at least the minimum entries to be met for it. This is a contest, not a hand out. I wanted to give you all warning, for those who are planning on entering, do it soon. Also, if there are A LOT of entries that need more time, I may extend the contest by a week or two, but as of right now, I would rather not do that.
I have added a counter to each category that NEEDS entries. Check that one the 2nd page in the Prizes section. Refer to that to see how many entries are needed for that category to NOT be deleted. Also, I did NOT count the WIPs that I have received, those will not be counted until finished. Because as stated in the rules, WIPs are not eligible for prizes (if you WIP is just lineart and you would rather enter it as so, then let me know that you change your WIP to finished, otherwise I will still count it as a WIP).

February.08.2010...Just wanted to do a quick update! I added a character time-line for anyone who would find it helpful! It's under the Character History post! biggrin
January.22.2010...Updated the FAQ again, adding the questions "The chibi reference you provided has a different outfit than the examples, which is right?" and "What's the difference between "BEST COUPLE" and "BEST GROUP"?". I also added a new menu bar at the top of each post on the 2nd page and this page. They will link you directly to the posts they indicate, that way you don't have to scroll forever and possibly skip over the post you were looking for. Hopefully that will make things a little easier.
I also updated the prize section and noticed that a lot of items have inflated and deflated in value--it's bizarre. Although it did bump up the overall total to 74 million, if it stays that high I may have to go through the prizes and re-think/re-organize them. Because some dropped over 150k, and I originally wanted the prize to be at 300k. So, we'll just see what happens to the marketplace in the meantime.
December.25.2009...Just updating an issue that I feel I need to address! As a note. ALWAYS REFER TO THE CHIBI REFERENCES IF IN DOUBT. :] Those mini references have their latest outfits, hair styles, eyes color...etc. So really, everyone should refer to those.
.December.22.2009...Added a few more songs to the Character Song category! Specifically, I added "Hurricane" to Jade. I also added a whole new section, by popular request! I had a lot of people interested in the characters histories. So, I am working on the histories of the characters and will continue to update that section as each one finishes. Currently, I have added Devlyn and Kikarah, Saelihn, and Sheir'Ray and Aryelle! Enjoy!
.December.15.2009...Contest is up and running (has been since the 10th, actually)! I'm still finishing those miniature references for the characters. Keep in mind that these miniature references are the basic outfit that I want my characters drawn in. But read the character FAQ for more info on that. I'm also forgetting to add in the descriptions the tattoos my characters have, so I will fix that!
