Everything is set to die at a certain day in time. The most innocent of beings; the darkest of creatures. They all die and rot in the ground; or they’re burned. Sometimes thrown into a river to slowly be eaten away by the inhabitants of the water, or used in labs for those who want to pursue science. No matter what happens, everything dies.

But what happens if one day, something happens when that critical law stops applying to certain individuals? Certain individuals whose lives are filled with the darkest of deeds, the most blood, or worst intentions. What happens if, one day, the ones who roam the streets and fill them with blood, simply stop dying? Bullets pierce their flesh and rip through it, they’ll scream and writhe in pain and bleed, but continue living. Sickness and the ticking of times’ clock no longer apply to them. They’ve suddenly achieved what all want and strive for: immortality. But at a cost?

    They’ve lost their shadows.

These shadow-less people have become what the common folk call Sinners, simply because of what they have done all their “mortal” lives. Sinners lost their shadows because they were all ruthless killers, sadistic tortures, betrayers of everything. They did the worst of the worst; stained their soul such a deep shade of black with wretchedness and cruelty that a special place in Hell was reserved for each and every one of them.

But, the Gods always had a lesson to teach when it came to messing with the creatures running about on the world they had created. Shadows were not completely lost to the Sinners, they simply became another being. Dark shape shifters of infinite powers. The Shadows are what kept the Sinners alive through sickness and age, through wounds and lost limbs. Sinners felt everything, the Shadows merely kept them alive to suffer through all eternity.

But, there was hope. There was always hope.

Three jewels were scattered across the world. A jewel for the heart; a jewel for the mind, and a jewel for the soul. A Sinner can regain their mortality and shadow once more if they can obtain all three jewels, and have truly changed in their ways. A Sinner must have a change of heart to touch the Heart Jewel; a change in mind to come near the Mind Jewel, and have come to terms with their past deeds to be in the same realm as the Soul Jewel. The jewels are also guarded each by a guardian, and each has a challenge.

The Gods are cruel and merciful, because once the Sinner is mortal again, time catches up with them.

Coors is a city built on and around a river called Expia. Expia is a lovely turquoise blue river that glitters in the suns lights on the beautiful days, and small boats are always moving along it. The river works like a normal road does, harboring traffic and the lazy. It’s kept clean by spells and enchantments from local wizards and witches; as Expia leaves Coors and branches out into much smaller rivers that spread out throughout the entire world.

Coors is separated into three levels: the upper level, middle level, and lower level. The upper level is where the wealthier class lives, along with some of the more higher class wizards and witches (they are in more demand for their spells and such). The streets in the Upper level has little to no crime, and is virtual spotless with litter or homeless. The middle level is where most of the stores, taverns, inns, and bridges are located. It’s the busiest part of Coors, simply because it has the most places to be. There are always people out and about on the streets, and creatures of all races move about on the streets.

The lower level of Coors is where all of the “garbage” in Coors is located. All of the scum mull about there, and chaos thrives in the violence driven streets and bars. It’s a rare sight to see a street without a fight. Even rarer to go a day without another murder. Sinners occasionally move through the lower part of Coors, and it’s hardly noticed because of all the other things going on there. Prostitutes, drugs, passed out drunks, and homeless are abundant in the lower levels of Coors. It’s been rumored that the first Sinner was to originate from there, but no one is quite certain.

Located far east of Coors, the Heart Jewel at the top of cave that can only be reached by getting to the bottom first. To get inside the cave, one has to reach the Abysmal Lake first. The lake, at the center, has a huge gaping hole that is the entrance to the cave. The water itself is no deeper than three feet, but it has a pull on it that could drag down a small giant. At the bottom of the cave, the pool of water leads to a large spiral stairway. The stone is slick and wet, and the only way back out of the cave is through multiple small tunnels at the top of stairway.

The Heart Jewel is located in one of the tunnels.

The walls are made of dark, onyx like stone that are smooth and cool the touch. The towers twist and contort the farther they move up, giving the building a twisted look. The only light that shines out of Senex is reddish-orange, and they are never any animals around, or insects. It’s completely void of life. It’s been abandoned for decades, and not even bandits will use it for hideouts.

The pool is located behind the small church that they live in.

Cringing in the dank alley Azalea had her body curled up into the smallest ball it would make. Her body shook with unheard sobs and all Ryu could do was sit by and watch the angel looking creature with unfathomable eyes. The day had been spent rather normally for them, Azalea had lurked around every corner making sure the street she entered wasn’t blood soak so she could pass unseen. Ryu, if he could, would have felt sorry for the some what innocent demon. It wasn’t her fault her physic power unleashed lethally when she saw blood, but it was her fault that she killed out of cold blood and anger. Azalea swallowed back another sob and brought her tear drenched face from her lap, brushing at the tears quickly before Ryu could comment. He always had to comment on days like this. She had almost lost it again, if Ryu hadn’t seen that creature, whatever it was, stab that beggar the entire street would probably be in little bits. She hated this, hated it!

Leaning against the cold brick Azalea could hear the low murmur of the river that ran through Coor and focused on the sound to clear her emotions. That always seemed to help when she was being an overly emotional nutcase. Ryu was standing at her side, his boot grinding the dirt further into the cobblestones bored out of his mind. If he could leave he would but the bond between himself and the little sinner at his feet wouldn’t let him and it annoyed him to no end. ‘Get up.’ Azalea cringed at the cool words that left her shadow’s pale lips but his attention was focused on the alley entrance where a group of men stopped. Azalea couldn’t tell what they were but if Ryu was tense they weren’t good news. Standing the blonde brushed her red and black skirt off, the white blouse with a over sized bow made her stand out but it was the perfect recreation of her birthday dress when she was eleven. Ryu stood on front of her as they walked glaring at the group of men, regular demons until they shifted their own gazes and moved on. ‘Thanks,’ the blonde mumbled fingering a long tress of her bangs she let hang from the curly ponytail. Ryu sighed, glancing around the alley for any fights and then glanced at the tori demon. ‘Bird,’ was the first thing that always appeared in his mind when he looked at her, taking in the light as air body frame, white wings and some what. . .how could he explain it? Her amber colored eyes were so large on a delicate face it reminded him of a sparrow.

‘. . .yu? Ryu,’ Azalea pinched the blue fabric of his dragon tunic and gave it a slight tug. Snapping back into reality the white haired man glanced around quickly checking the perimeter before turning his perpetual icy glare on his sinner. ‘What.’ The word was sharp as jagged chrome. Azalea frowned, she hated it when he spoke and acted like this. He could be such a a**. ‘Fine. If your going to act like that maybe I just won’t ask,’ she huffed taking off down the street, avoiding all eye contact with any one she encountered as she slowly made her way up the street. Ryusokue growled with frustration and stepped in place with the little one. She was short compared to his six foot two inch towering height and he often felt like a trodden father keeping up with his bratty, spoiled little daughter. ‘Az tell me what you wanted,’ he asked trying to make his voice more endearing, gentle and it seemed to work because she turned her face towards him ‘Little sparrow.’ With a pout set on her lips, hindering on a smile Azalea shrugged and ran a hand through her blonde curls. ‘I was just thinking I'd treat you to lunch for helping me out today,’ she murmured trying not to think about the sin she would have committed. She already had so much on her plate.

Ryu blinked, even though he rarely ate he knew this was a big offer considering Azalea had very little money to squander. She couldn’t work the bloodied bar and Inn’s here in the lower level and getting a job was harder in the middle. ‘All right. Treat me then. I’m hungry,’ Ryu nudged the girl in the leg with a boot, his arms crossed across his stomach. He was lying of course but he liked to watch her squirm to do something nice for him. She had hardened her heart so much these past decades it was funny to see her soft. Azalea stumbled batting away his boot with her own and gave a stark growl of her own. ‘Don’t push it,’ she threatened darkly, her eye’s just as icy as Ryu’s. The shadow gave a smirk in response as he floated by already choosing the destination in his mind. It was Azalea’s favorite restaurant; not that she knew he knew it was her favorite. Azalea sighed tagging along after the shadow as she kept a look out for scuffles, stabbing’s, or murders that seemed to be a minute by minute thing on this low level. ‘Don’t lag.’ The voice followed by a hand that enfolded her own startled the bird girl, her white wings flapping uselessly for a moment as her heart thudded in her ears. It was Rysokue of course but she hated sudden contact. ‘I’m coming,’ she whispered jogging to keep in step with his tall legs. Unrelenting in letting her hand free Azalea was stuck staring at the Shadow’s back, the familiar blue pattern enchanting her eyes. The dragon that wrapped its self on the tunic always amused her, the alchemist circles never ceased to confuse her. The glittering scabbard of gold that homed a jagged edged blade of steel never ceased to frighten her. Ryu was so odd in his actions that contradicted his words and tone. On streets like these, however, she was lucky to have him at her side 24/7. As the two walked, they remained silent, wrapped up in their own worlds as their feet guided them to their destination.

Amber tapped her fingers against the wood of the boat. The row man was slowly moving them towards the next stop. The river was glittering, as it always did. Amber could never guess how many enchantments were placed over the long, flowing river. She could remember, even when she was little, she could see the bottom of the Expia, and never a single piece of garbage littered the bottom. Just endless sand and rocks. Amber dipped her previously tapping hand into the cool, clean water. Pulling some of the water up with a touch of her power, the water snaking up and around her arm to her shoulder. Amber pulled her arm out of the water, three ribbons of waters spinning around her arm.

A flutter of wings and movement to her right moved her attention from the water around her arm, to the large, brown crow that had landed next to her. The piercing red eyes immediately told her it was Edo. No matter what form he took, he eyes never changed.

"What do want now?" she asked dryly, turning her attention back to the water before it began loose it's shape. "I thought I was going to be free of your presence for at least a few measly minutes. This little boat ride was so pleasant." Amber sighed half heartedly, the water snaking in between her fingers.

The crow clacked it's beak in annoyance, before slowly changing shapes. Edo's normal appearance quickly appeared within the boat, hood shadowing most of his face, and his dark brown hair covering his left red eye. And as always, Amber had to take a second to look at the puzzling "J" scar on his cheek. Did he put that there just to make her wonder about it, or was there a reason for it? She had bothered to ask once, and had received no answer.

"What do you think you're doing?" Edo's voice was deep, but monotone. He had been her Shadow for four years and never had she heard him laugh. Amber had never even seen him smile, scowl, smirk, frown. Nothing. She couldn't even hold his gaze long enough to try and read his eyes to try and guess what he was feeling - if he even had any emotions. Amber had seen dead things with more life than Edo.

"I think I'm doing what ever I damned well please." Amber smirked as Edo's one visible eye narrowed slightly. Even if her Shadow seemed dead as a doornail, she had learned to catch the few glimpses of emotions he did show. And they tended to be the more negative of emotions, and directed at her. It didn't matter all that much, though, considering the fact that neither Sinner nor Shadow were very fond of each other. Amber didn't like the fact that Edo was even there, and Edo just didn't seem to like anything. "And there is nothing you can do to stop me." Amber fell silent and watched Edo for a few minutes, the water forgotten and had returned to the Expia. She had no idea how he could sit in complete silence and not move. He could do it for hours. He called it "meditation". Amber called it "sleeping".

"I know what day it is," he finally said. Amber looked away from him, not sure rather to sulk childishly for being caught, or play innocent and pretend to have forgotten. Neither one struck her fancy, and she shrugged instead. "You visit every year, by the same methods." He paused for a second, "This ride is more pleasant than past years. The row man is awfully quiet."

His last comment made her smile. "Too bad the ride is over," she cooed, standing and stepping out of the still boat. Edo morphed into a crow again, seeing as Amber had found it fit to take them both to the upper levels of Coor, and Edo despised the upper level. He landed on the quiet, still row mans shoulder. He sagged, then fell into the river. Small green vines had grown out of his mouth and eyes and wound their way down his neck. If the ride had been a little longer, small orange flowers would have eventually bloomed along the vines.

Amber's laugh echoed down small alley as she heard the first scream come from the river.

    OoC;;
    It's fine! :D

The two had walked only a ways before Ryu was able to snag a gondola . Azalea tried to avoid as much contact with others as much as she could so it was to Ryusokue to do much of the talking. Besides he could be mean and arrogant and not feel bad for the people he just squashed under that big booted foot of his. As odd as it was Azalea always felt bad making people do things, asking for things or being selfish. She was a odd one for a Sinner. Ryu glanced the boat over not caring much for this city and all it water. Climbing in first he held a hand out for Azalea holding the boot steady with one foot on the city land, the other in the boat. Azalea on the other hand loved the water in this city compared to the many swamps she had wandered around in her earlier years. The swamps were murky, dark and depressing. Something always lurked in the water and the insects and other things that hid in the water mossed trees were never pleasant. Yet here, even in lower Coors, the water was beautiful and clean. Trash you’d think that would be thrown in the water never showed and the water was so refreshing it always made her feel better. After stumbling in and getting situated next to Ryu who never took his eye of the boot driver, much to the poor man’s unnerving Azalea leaned over the edge.

Ryu sighed, feeling like he was riding with a ever to curious bird child rather then a hundred and nineteen year old murderer. Azalea already had her hands in the water, gazing deeply into the blue looking for things on the bottom that was clearly seen. It was like looking through glass. Sand and smooth stones glittered, the boat ride was slow going from the heavy water traffic nut peaceful for neither three were talking. For long that is. ‘Ryu.’ The shadow glanced at the girl, her back still turned to him as she skimmed the water with a hand. He waited for something more but Azalea hadn’t even turned to see if he was paying attention. Half his wit told him he was just hearing things but the boat man had twitched as well, glancing quickly around the harbor trying to distract himself from their conversation. ‘What,’ he answered somewhat annoyed she hadn’t just came out and said what she was going to say. It was a moment before the angel looking creature turned, her chin propped by a palm as she flicked water from her fingers. Her expression read between peace and boredom as she leveled their gazes. Suddenly a smile frosted her lips, ‘Nothin. It was just getting too quiet,’ she giggled stretching her legs and arms out as far as they would go, her wings doing the same as the muscles worked out all the kinks. Ryu growled flicking his charge in the head before crossing his arms and staring out the other way. Always careful to never look at the water. ‘Oww, Ryu that hurt,’ Azalea whined, sounding more and more like a child as her hands cupped the spot Ryu flicked her. The pout on her lips brought no sympathy from the annoyed shadow who remained tight lipped.

A few quiet minutes later the dispute was forgotten about and the gondola docked on the higher side of the middle level. Azalea failed to wait for Ryu to help her out, using her own special ability just to fly up and over the boat onto the street at hand. Wether it was levitating or actual flying Azalea wasn’t sure, she could start from any position, wether sitting, standing or even tied up. Her wings so small acted more like a rudder then means of flying, either way she never dwelled on it long. Flying was just to much fun. Ryu wasted no time flipping the payment at the boatman and disembarking himself. It wasn’t that fact he was afraid of the water, he just really disliked it. Too peaceful, to wet and too. . .something. Not that he’d admit it to any, especially Azalea. The girl glanced around at the familiar setting of the middle level business corner, the people here had a more gentle affect on her then the lower level off Coors. She wasn’t as tempted to go off like a time bomb and massacre a street of people here. Ryu took the lead once more, wordlessly, since this was his lunch and Azalea followed like the loyal birde she was. However, as the two made their way around the level, getting slightly closer to the highest level both could feel a deadly feeling penetrate the air.

Edo flew high over the houses that sprouted all over the upper district. His shadow fell where Ambers should have. Rather he was hiding the fact that she had a Shadow, or he was just staying close enough so that she didn't feel the tug that she often did when he flew too far, she didn't know. Half of his intentions were always a mystery to her. By nature, she was a curious person - wasn't everyone? Edo, however, had managed to somehow quell that side of her somehow. Now she had to just accept everything he did without asking why, and it bothered her. A lot. Even if he did the same thing. Usually.

Amber turned sharply, her skirts spinning around her legs. The noise from the markets was close. Had she started to far down in the upper part of Coors? A soft, annoyed sigh escaped the pink haired woman as she folded her arms. She needed to get outside of Coors, at least by the end of the day. A faint caw sounded above her, causing her too look up at Edos circling, descending form. The area around her was relatively unoccupied, and he shifted back into his hooded form and landed on the ground with surprising grace. Amber had never seen him shift in the air before - it was something new. Edo usually never did "new".

"Are you lost?" he asked dryly, his long cloak settling around him.

The few people that were around them, however, captured Ambers attention more than Edo. She loved to see their reaction to her Shadow; see them whisper in hushed, little voices about a Sinner. What did she do? Who is she? Had they ever heard of her? Where did she come from? Amber smiled coldly at them and unfolded her arms and flicked her wrist, a sudden, strong wind picking up. A few flames appeared in the winds and caught onto the peoples' clothes and sent them screaming into the streets.

"No, I'm not lost," she finally answered, turning her attention back to her Shadow, who looked not the least bit amused. "What? They won't be hurt. People just overreact to everything. All they have to do is jump into the river, and the flames will disappear. Besides, they were small." Having said what she felt needed to be said, Amber stepped around Edo. "You know, if you know what day it is and everything, then you should do something special for me."

There was a long pause. Amber didn't even know if Edo was following behind her; she could never hear him unless he wanted to be heard. "And why would I do something special for you?"

Emotion! She heard a sneer! "Today is our anniversary, sweetheart." She held up four fingers, "Four happy, long years together!" Amber couldn't help but laugh. The second these "happy" years ended, would be when Edo disappeared. Amber hated having someone watch her every second of every day, without a seconds rest. It was like having a stalker! Only he hated her.

    "You're going the wrong way."

Edo's voice snapped her out of her thoughts as she stared down at the busy market. He was right. Damn. It. Amber turned on her heel and stomped past him, muttering obscenities in his direction. At least now she knew that she was getting closer. There were ways out of Coors near here, she knew. It was just a matter of finding them now. She turned down a corner, smiling slightly in triumph at the fact that it one of the few turns that actually led out of the city that suddenly felt like a maze.

A moan spilled over the light pink plump lips of twenty year old Katherine Michelle White as the man she was with kissed along her neck. Closing her hypnotic yellow eyes she tilted her head back and to the side wanting more kisses to be laid upon the subtle skin. Hearing the man's heavy breathing she smiled and ripped his shirt open. The whole show was that of lust, and of nothing close to love at all. Her long slender fingers ghosted down his chest causing a gasp to erupt from the man's lips and his light blue eyes to close quickly. Katherine smirked and unbuttoned and unzipped his pants then let them fall to his ankles. Feeling his hands slip up her thighs as he pushed her skirt up she smiled and shifted her weight on the table they had made it to. True the girl had forgotten his name completely, but she didn't care what with Johnathon driving her insane the past couple of days. Honestly it had just been nag after nag from the man, and she was happy she had shook him once again. Turning her mind back to the gorgeous male looming over her she opened her eyes and smiled as she looked over his face. Pulling his boxers down she gasped quietly from the cool air that hit her thighs. Feeling his fingers slip into the sides of her undies and pull she smiled, but the smile was short lived. Just as the two were about to connect the devil she called Johnathon appeared and pulled them apart. "What the f*ck do you think you're doing?" Katherine hissed as she sat up on the table. Johnathon merely shook his head causing his raven locks to topple down into his ice blue eyes. "You know so much better then this." he said quietly before throwing the man out of their small apartment in the lower part of the city.

Sighing heavily Johnathon snatched Katherine's undies and shirt off the floor and tossed them to her before walking into the living room and sitting down in his chair. Leaning back he reached up and caressed his brow before looking over at her. "You cannot say I haven't tried to help you." he said his light tenor voice laced with venom. "Johnathon, I just wanted some type of release. You've been driving me bonkers the past week." Katherine said as she slipped off the table and redressed herself. Sighing heavily she walked over to him and ruffled his hair before disappearing into a back room. "I've been trying to teach you right from wrong!" Johnathon called after her as she slowly stood up and followed her. Katherine sighed heavily and shook her head as she walked into the bathroom and turned the warm water on in the shower. "I know Johnathon." she said as she turned to look at him. "We have to go shopping after I get out of the shower." she said as she slipped her shirt and bra off. Placing them in the hamper she sighed heavily again then slipped out of her skirt and undies. She didn't care if Johnathon saw seeing as how he had seen every inch of her body before in more then one situation. "I'll try to be quick." she said as she stepped under the flow of water.

Johnathon shook his head and sighed heavily as he stood there watching her undress. Frankly a side of him wanted to walk into the room and take the girl into his arms and just kiss her 'til tomorrow, but he couldn't do that for he had told himself no falling for the charges. "Okay. I'll go change." he mumbled as he walked down the hallway and into the room they shared. Taking his black t-shirt off he sighed then grabbed a white button up dress shirt and slipped it on. Changing into a pair of light colored jeans he smiled then walked back into the living room to sit down waiting on the girl really.

Katherine sighed under the cover of the shower. Reaching up she washed her hair then her body just thinking about how much Johnathon hated it when she brought guys home. Turning the water off she stood there for a moment before stepping out and drying off. Walking back into their room she grabbed a pair of panties and a bra and put them on before getting dressed in a pair of grey skinny jeans and a white tank top. Slipping on a pair of dodger blue heels she smiled then walked out of the room and back to the bathroom to fix her hair and make - up. Honestly she was rather quick in getting ready seeing as how she had to fix it so fast so many times. After finishing in she walked out and grabbed Johnathon by the shirt collar. "Let's go." she said as she let go and walked out the front door. Shaking her head she walked downstairs then out into the street. Feeling Johnathon's hand ghost over the small of her back she smiled and turned her head to face him. "I guess we best get to walkin'." she said then grabbed his hand and slowly started to walk down the street towards the middle part of the city where they could get their grocries.

Johnathon sighed lightly and looked around as they walked just thinking really. Once he saw the middle district coming up he let out a light sigh then looked down at Katherine. "What is it that we really need?" he questioned before looking back ahead. "Food." she said simply. She knew that Johnathon would know what to get seeing as how he always bought the food. "Easy enough." Johnathon chuckled. Dragging her over to a booth he looked around then got a few things and paid for them. Katherine sighed lightly and looked away trying to find something interesting to stare at for a while.

indent“Silian you are walking to fast!” whined the little girl as she tugged back on old man in almost all back, tattered clothing. His thin nose twitched showing his dislike for her complaint. Just because of her short legs didn’t mean that he should have to slow. The little girl tugged again making him down at her. ”My feet hurt and I’m hungry.” she whined. A hundred years of the same thing. Infinite power and she remained a little girl whining every five seconds. The worst shadow ever. Silian grunted pulling her over to a bridge. Maria’s eye widened as he picked her up under her arms and set her down on the thick edge of the bridge. She was almost eye level if she had wanted to be. He little bottom lip jutted out when he crossed his arms over his chest. With a roll of his dark eyes he fixed the waist of her dress and unbuttoned the top few buttons of the frilly high neck.

indent“You are a full pain in my life you know that right?” Maria smiled innocently jumping down from the ledge and tugging him along. Silian resentfully fallowed her as she pulled him. The gloomy man walked awkwardly threw on the streets adjacent to the canals of the Coors. The little lilac hair girl Maria danced around him tugging on his hands and stepping around him. Her movements where almost graceful but for her young body it was still awkward. But somehow it was adorable. He pulled one hand up and slowed down at bit to watch her spin. He tiny little dress and her hair fanned out.

indentLips twitched behind the oxygen mask, covering Silian’s face hiding a half smile. Maria’s feet spun out under falling flat on her back. Silian stumbles sideways falling into the canal. Maria looked around for her sinner surprised to see him glaring from the edge of the water way. His glare was mixed into his dark hair in his face. She smiled sheepishly and stood up. Silian pushed his hair back and floated in the water. To Maria he looked like a big sea monster. He was lucky the mask worked under water as well.

indent“Why do I put up with you?” growled Silian over the wheeze and rasp of his mask. Covering his mask. Maria frowned deeply into a puppy pout. Silian rolled his eyes and pulled himself out of the water to sit on the canal next to her. He tugged the buttons of his shirt open and off his shoulders. He stood up and tucked the edge into his belt after wringing it out. He poked boot a thin black boot into her side. Maria wiggled and stood up. Her dark eyes glared at him/ “Don’t you even try that with me in that form.” he sneered raising a brow down to her. “Plus I have something planed for today. You know that house you always liked?”

indent“The tall one with the statues?” piped the lilac girl.

indent“Yeah. The one with the fountain in the back too. With the lady with the dress you really liked. Plus it has the book I need. Or so said that now dead, drunk merchant said.” smirks raised one both of their lips. The Grinch had nothing on their little smirks. Silian pulled her little arm up till she was standing then put his hands under her arms to pick her up. He pulled her to his side, her tiny arms wrapping around his neck, her put a hand on her bottom to keep her there. If some had seen it thy most likely would have thought of a older brother carrying a small child or a shadow carrying his sinner. Sadly it was usually the second thought. Ignorant freaks.

Amber stood, arms folded over her chest, atop scorched ground. After four years, the land still failed to grow even the hardiest of weeds or the sparsest of grasses. The dirt from four, long years past was still burnt, and even a few of the tiles still littered the ground. Amber nudged one of the tiles with her toes, a little puff of dust rising up as she did. The fire hadn't been strong enough to permanently damage the ground for this long, had it? Amber's orange eyes scanned the torched ground, narrowed slightly. The fire had been intended to be strong, but definitely not strong enough to never allow vegetation to ever grow again. She was an Elementalist, damnit. She liked plants. Seeing the earth as tormented as it was pained her slightly, epically because it seemingly because of her own doing.

Another thing caught Amber's interest as she raised her eyes from the ground and looked all around her. It was, after all, the anniversary of the great fire of her family and all the guests that had been in their house. Why weren't their families here? She had seen flowers laying on the burnt ground before, in mourning and remembrance. After the first year, the area had been covered in all kinds of flowers. Even for a few weeks after the day of the fire she had continued to see flowers resting here. But as years past, less and less flowers appeared. It was only a gradually decline; she was surprised she even noticed at all. However, not it was painfully apparent, seeing as there wasn't even a single flower present.

Amber snorted slightly as she kicked the shingle she had nudged just a few minutes earlier. It flew a few feet in front of her, picking up a cloud of dust as it hit the ground. Her nose scrunched up at the sight of the dust. Perhaps she could waste some of her time here. After all... she did have a lot of it, because of Edo. Unfolding her arms, Amber crouched down to the down, letting her finger tips graze the dusty earth surface. It was dry and deprived of life.

"What are you doing now?" Amber jumped slightly in surprise at the sound of Edo's voice behind her, then scowled darkly. He was always sneaking up behind her! If only she could smack him for it, she would feel just a little better. But no. He would just move. Or dodge. Or something that would involve evading or other wise stopping her from hitting him. The knowledge caused anger to bubble in her veins and clench her fists.

"I'm going to grow things. Because I feel like it, and I want to." Amber pressed her fingertips against the dried up earth again, making note to ignore Edo's presence. "So why don't you just go away and leave me be while do what my nature compels me to do, huh?" she snapped, channeling her energy towards the ground so that any water would slowly move towards the top of the ground, and that the plants in the soil would grow the second the water touched it. The combination of her powers immediately started to drain her of energy, but she kept it up until a few little green buds sprouted up on the barren ground in front of her.

Amber heard the softest of sounds behind her, indicated the sounds of shuffling behind her. Edo was moving around behind her and letting her know about it? Oh, dear. It must be important. Should she even bother paying attention to it? Closing her eyes and taking in a deep breath, Amber pulled her power back and removed her hand from the ground. Her limbs felt like they were made of lead, but she quickly forgot about that when she opened her eyes again, to come face to tiny face with a red winged fairy.

"We have a visitor, Edo said plainly, appearing behind her. "It's a fire pixie, and he's here to direct us somewhere." The small creature nodded quickly, the wings beating so quickly it looked like its back was on fire as it quickly flew into the air and darted between them, and Coors.

Amber swiftly stood up from her crouched position on the ground, crossing her arms again. "How do you know what it wants?" she asked, watched the small pixie move curiously. Where had it even come from? And who would be directing it, anyway? They were Sinner and Shadow. Who would want to see them?

"Pixie's don't speak loudly. It told me what it needed to tell me, and I told you. That's how I know." Amber snorted in response and moved after the pixie, hoping to leave Edo, but knew that he would be right behind her, moving silently. The red, flying bug-like creature darted in front her, swiftly moving them back to Coors.

The walk had made her tired, Ceil just wanted to float through the sky, or maybe even in the river but that might be just a tiny bit dangerous. How many boats would she run into doing such a thing? Sighing the tengu left her shadow’s side and plopped down beside the river side unlacing her boots as she did so. Ryu who never fell out of step with his sinner glanced at the female with narrowed eyes half tempted to ask why. However, he had to save face as being the Shadow he was and stood next to her as he watched the tengu shed her boots. ‘I thought we were going for lunch Az,’ he muttered turning his back and watching the street for danger as the girl rested her tired feet in the cool river. Wiggling her toes Azalea laughed softly, ‘I’ll feed you chill out. I’m tired,’ she sighed letting the river wash her weariness away for a bit. She was exhausted after walking all day and worrying so much these past years, it really drained her.

As the two watched barges, pleasure boats, tea boats and various other types sail by Azalea patted the ground next to her. ‘Sit with me?' The question bothered the Shadow slightly, not wanting to become to attached to his charge but the passing years showed him how sweet the poor tengu was and that her past wasn’t her choice. It had been someone else’s that had screwed her up so badly. Though she had made her choices long ago. Sighing himself the Shadow sat, cross-legged and watched the water stream past him. So clean and clear. Too much magic was used, why couldn’t they use that magic on the lower levels and get the ghetto cleaned up instead.

Make Ceil’s life easier, then again once they got enough money they could just pack up and move around here, in this peaceful of a place. Ryu just wanted to go out right and get the money by any means, stealing or such but Ceil’s past was riddled with so much sin as it was and she was determined never to commit another sin as long as she could. She’d earn the money fairly, working in the sums any way she could. Morally of course. Being as pretty as she was and dainty she’d make easy money as a prostitute but of course she wouldn’t ever do it. Ryu chuckled to himself for she was such a odd girl. The tengu glanced at her companion with question in her eyes but when he failed to supply the answer she turned her attention back tot he tea boat she had been watching. Maybe she could get a job out on the river. That would be fun, serving tea and pipes to witty old men, or maybe even getting a laborer’s job hauling stuff to store fronts.

Both lost in thought neither were prepared for the water pixie to spring from the watery depths and flit in front of their faces. Ryu blinked, taking note of the pixie shaped torrent of water while Ceil the much more jumpy scardy cat of the two squeaked covering her face with her hands. ‘Relax it’s simply a water messenger,’ Ryu soothed splaying his index finger to the pixie like he would for a bird. The pixie sat comfortably on the shadow’s finger and began to talk speedily, a quiet whisper that caused Ryu to bring the watery creature up to his ear, hoping it wouldn’t find it funny to bite. Ceil peeked between her fingers then leaned in watching the fascinating little thing flit up and grab a lock of Ryu’s pale blue hair and tug; giving a great show for the tengu to giggle at. ‘I think it wants us to follow,’ Ceil said lifting her feet up and shaking them dry. Slipping her socks and boots back on the two stood and followed the enthusiastic little water sprite, Ryu tagging along just behind her.

Glancing at her shadow Ceil leaned over, hands behind her back gazing at the pixie. ‘What did it say,’ she asked quietly. Ryusokue shrugged, ‘It wants us to go to the very restaurant we were going. Obviously there will be other Sinner and Shadow pairs there that are suppose to meet a thief of sorts.’ The explanation only caused the girl more confusion. More Sinner and Shadow pairs? Thief? Frowning the tengu paused in her steps, not sure she wanted to meet up with the others. They were more. . .hardcore sinners then what she was use to. Their shadows would be meaner she was sure. Ryu stopped and gritted his teeth. ‘Sparrow. . .let’s go,’ he demanded, his tone still gentle but urgent. Dismissing a pixie’s request wasn’t a smart idea for they often lead to a fortunes future. What ever was waiting for them had to be something that would deal them a greater luck then they had now. Ceil hesitated, ‘I don’t know. . .I don’t want to meet other. . .other people like us,’ she whined; her exhaustion making her childish in behavior. She simply wanted to get something to eat and go to bed.

The shadow was starting to get impatient with her. She never wanted to get out of her shell and into a world that she had to fight for what she wanted. Walking back the few steps she created between them the shadow scooped the tengu up, turning a deaf ear to her protests and the pixie’s made giggling. They were a block from the restaurant so to hell with Ceil if she was going to make him wait any longer for his meal. Ah. True motive behind a man’s cause. Food. Ignoring stares Ryusokue marched into the establishment and got a table for two watching the pixie dissipate outside the door. Plopping the complaining girl in her seat Ryu took his own leisurely and scanned the menu to make a show of what he wanted although he already knew. Defeat scrawled across he features the girl picked up her own trying to make the best of her situation and glanced around nervously for others. . .like her. ‘I don’t like this,’ she mumbled to Ryu eyes pleading to run. Ryusokue ignored the girl’s discomfort and proceed to scan the menu, his own eyes and ears open for his kind. Sighing the girl slouched knowing it was going to be a very long day. . .

Time seemed to pass slowly for Eon. He moved a few jems around in his hand, the different shapes sliding against each other as his fingers moved them around. The few jewels in his hand were of his most recent adventure into a wealthy family in the upper district of Coors. A couple sapphires, an emerald necklace, opal earrings, and a few diamonds rings. It wasn't a bad horde, considering the fact that he had taken it from an ordinary little box inside of a small bedroom. It must have been a young girls room, considering the fact that it had been littered with dolls and little stuffed animals and reeked of the sweet smelling things. However, it wasn't his priority rather or not it was a small girls room. He had recovered the jewels that he so loved, and that was what mattered.

                                    For now.

Eon's hand clenched around the stolen jewels and slipped them quickly into his pocket. He wasn't anywhere near the lower levels, but he didn't trust anyone in the middle level, either. A thief can't trust anyone but a thief, after all. And considering the fact that he was planning on leaving soon with a few guests, he would have to keep his guard up constantly. Eon wouldn't have a moments rest for a long while, but the rewards at the end would be well worth all the stress.

A small, tiny voice caught his attention and he stopped, a few people casting him a suspicious glance. A green speck at the corner of his eye finally let him know what he let he was looking for, and held his hand out, palm facing skywards. A small, green pixie landing on his palm, the green dragonfly-like wings folding against her backs as her hair fell about her, the small little flowers in her hair giving off a pleasant fragrance. "Yes?" he asked, keeping the concern and confusion away from his expression and voice. She would only come to him if he couldn't find who he had assigned her, which would be odd indeed.

"I didn't find the Sinner, he wasn't anywhere I looked." Her voice was soft and he could barely hear it over the noise in the street. "I can try to look again, sir, but I may have the same results. He seemed very elusive."

Eon shook his head, "Seek out the other one instead. The doll? Her essence shouldn't be too hard to find; very unique, I would imagine. I was going to go find her myself, but I think you would find the task more enjoyable than I would." He paused for a second, before smirking slightly as the earth pixie took the air again. "Besides, I have guests that are eagerly waiting for me." Eon took off swiftly, fiddling with the ring on his right hand. The fire pixie was approaching quickly, too. Another one of his little guests would be arriving. It would only be courteous of him to greet more of his guests.

The crowded streets hindered his progress slightly, causing him to slow down slightly when Eon would rather be moving more swiftly. There were certain occasions when he did prefer the upper levels to all the others because so few people ever ventured onto the streets. The houses were so nice, there was hardly a need to ever go outside. He would know; he was the one who broke in to steal the stuff inside of it.

Eon grunted unhappily as a woman stepped rudely in front of him. The temptation to transform into a wolf and scare everyone around him was nearly unbearable. The visual image of the plethora of people around him running in fear amused him enough to lighten his mood as he turned the corner, coming upon the restaurant that he had destined for all of his guests to meet at. Running one of his hands through his fiery red hair, Eon stepped inside the quiet restaurant. He easily picked out the ones he sent there. The most nervous looking girl with wings he had ever seen, sitting with her calm Shadow (it may also help him that she didn't have a shadow beneath her, either).

Approaching the pair, Eon snatched a chair from another table and set himself down next to the nervous girl. He fished out one of the sapphire necklaces, the slim gold chain and jewel glittering in the light of the restaurant. "I'm the thief," he held the necklace out for the girl, smiling gently. "And soon, you'll learn why I've asked to meet you."
