How FreeRice works:
Go to www.freerice.com. In the middle of the FreeRice Home page you will see something like:

yellow
To play the game, click on one of the four definitions (“little,” “old,” “big,” or “yellow”) that you think is correct. If you get it right, FreeRice donates 20 grains of rice to help end hunger. In the example above, you would want to click on “little,” which means “small.” You will then get a chance to do another word the same way. You can play as long as you like and give as much rice as you like.
You don't have to be a genius to Donate Rice:
The program keeps track of how many people get each word right or wrong, and then adjusts each word’s difficulty level accordingly. So the words at the easiest levels are the ones that people most often get right. The words at the hardest levels are the ones that people most often get wrong. As more and more people have played the game, these levels have become increasingly more accurate.
You actually donate 20 grains of rice per correct Answer!
FreeRice is not sitting on a pile of rice―you are earning it 20 grains at a time. Here is how it works. When you play the game, sponsor banners appear on the bottom of your screen. The money generated by these banners is then used to buy the rice. So by playing, you generate the money that pays for the rice donated to hungry people.
Do I really make a difference by playing FreeRice?
The rice you donate makes a huge difference to the person who receives it. According to the United Nations, about 25,000 people die each day from hunger or hunger-related causes, most of them children. To a mother or father watching a loved child die in their arms from hunger, the rice you donate is more precious than anything in the world.
Please remember that you are not the only one playing FreeRice. Though 20 grains of rice is a small amount, it is important to remember that while you are playing, so are thousands of other people at the same time. It is each and every one of you together that makes the difference. Your 200, 500 or 1,000 grains may not seem like much by itself, but consider that in its first five months, FreeRice generated enough rice to feed more than one million people.
How I reward you for playing FreeRice:
EVERYONE who participates will win! For every 20 rice grains you help donate, I will give you 10g of my own money. Once you reach 40,000 grains, the price reduces to 5g per 20 grains, so I don't go broke razz It doesn't seem like a lot, but it really does build up fast!
40,000 grains of rice = 20,000 gold
Everything after 40,000 grains earns you 5g per 20 grains!
Also, while we don't want to discourage people from participating, we have a small limiter on donations. You must donate at least 5,000 grains in order to qualify for a donation, but any more than 100,000 grains will not count towards a donation. Although, your totals over 100,000 will still be count towards the overall charity purpose (which is to feed the starving). Therefore, I ask that your first screenshot must be at least 5,000 grains of rice.
Please post screenshots showing how much rice you have donated otherwise I won't be able to figure out if you're giving me an accurate number or not. Please post your screenshots here so I can keep a running tally of how much I owe you in this thread. Your screenshot must look like this.
Please keep your totals and do not start fresh every time you go to the site! go to 'options', and click the box that says 'Remember my personal rice donation total'. Do NOT do multiplication for your score. FreeRice is meant to challenge yourself, and to learn something new, not just get fast grains for fast gold. Any screenshots that show multiplication for your subject will not be accepted.
The end of every month is your 'payday'. At the end of each month, I will send out the donations to everyone who participated. Please be aware that if you have changed your username without notification you will not receive your FreeRice donation.
The Top Three grain donators will receive an extra gift for giving so much. Your count begins anew each month ~ Stick around, the more you play, the more you could win!

I feel that many many special thanks are in order, and this will be the post where I list them all out!
First off, amazingly generous thanks to the founders of FreeRice for creating such a wonderful program. In the time that it's been open, billions of grains of rice have been donated to those starving refugees, orphaned children, and families in third-world countries around the globe. The great thought and care that they have put into the website have saved millions of lives with literally the click of a button. The whole concept is awe-inspiring and breathtakingly beautiful.

Second, I would like to say another very gracious thanks to an upstanding citizen of the Gaia Community, RavenCpu.
When I approached him with the idea of the FreeRice Charity, I was hoping for a small donation to keep the charity afloat. His kindness has surpassed all of the limits I ever expected, and I know thanks to him, this charity will run for a very long time. He said it all in his reply to me: "Really, I can't think of a better use for those funds. My time on Gaia will result in people getting fed ...
