Reference Information:

Black hair, large dark blue eyes, light olive skin, "Meg Ryan" shaped lips, normal build (neither skinny nor bodacious) and small breasts are the main points that I might be picky on. She is right-handed. The clothing can be played around with and so long as it remains in the general vicinity of 14th century Europe I will probably be perfectly happy with it. :3

Merro is the only child of a merchant prince, and has grown up neglected and - by today's standards - abused by her father. So she's wealthy and angry. Merro has her share of beauty, but it's usually hidden by a glare or frown. She can, however, "play Lady" very well when necessary. She hates her current life, craves freedom and makes up her own rules. She knows how to cast a few defensive spells and can use a sword and dagger somewhat decently.

The mood of the pictures I am looking for will mostly be serious and/or dark. Merro is not exactly an angel-wings and dewy-roses type of character. *hee* For the best grasp of her character I can not do better than to ask that you read the "Quest for the Shiny" roleplay she is a part of as well as the vignettes featuring her (and oft times Letalus).

Current Requests: (more to be added)
  • Merro standing full front or in 3/4 profile, not much expression on her face, dressed all in white (to the nines or just a simple linen shift, doesn't matter) and holding the elven sword. She is to be splattered copiously with blood, and there should be a fair amount on the ground as well. The blood patterns should be spatters and sprays rather than blobs, as if the stains are the result of slashes in battle instead of just gravity drops. There should definitely be blood on her hands and on whatever of her clothing is behind the sword, but the sword itself should be pristine, because it soaks up fresh blood. Bonus points if you can make it obvious that the sword did get splattered at one point by leaving a void in some of the blood spray on her clothing behind her sword to indicate that the blade blocked some of the blood. This can be full color or monochrome with just the blood in red.
  • Merro and Letalus standing side by side or back to back in a meadow, swords drawn. Merro is still in her tunic and trousers outfit. The bandage has long since fallen off her right hand and she is barefoot. Letalus has a regular sword and Merro is wielding the elven blade. They've been surrounded by bandits (who do not need to be in the picture) and are about to be attacked. I would like this picture to have "movement" even though they're really just standing still. (For the background on this request, please go to the roleplay recap, look at the first page, search for "reprimand" and then read the first seven or so posts you come across.)
  • Letalus playing the lute by (or in) the window in his private quarters at the Kisan manor while Merro stands or crouches outside. Letalus must not have any kind of line of sight to Merro as he doesn't know that she knows about his lute-playing until they get to Parnell. Merro's hair is also still long and all one length at this point. The window is rounded at the top and has hinged glass doors that split down the middle and are thrown open in the picture. The glass is 14th century stuff, pebbled and hard to see through. The walls are stone, and it is the middle of the night.

Funds: Uh...ask. XD My art request funds tend to fluctuate as I try to consolidate inventory toward good "investment" items for my Angelic Halo quest. I am also open to doing an art trade if I especially love your artwork, with my end likely being a waist up pencil sketch kinda like these. Can also do full body but I'll value that higher because I don't like drawing legs. XD Simple coloring is another can-do-but-higher-value option. And you probably won't be able to pry a time-eater like watercolors from me unless you're offering to do something major towards helping me complete my Angelic Halo quest. XD)

How to Apply for a Commission:

This character belong to Meriko. If an agreement for an art commission is reached, the basic idea is...

1. Meriko starts a trade to the artist with full payment.
2. The artist sends Meriko at least one in-progress view of the artwork for approval. *
3. Meriko sends back a thumbs up (go on to step 4) or changes (go back to step 2). *
4. The artist sends Meriko the final product via PM and accepts the trade.
5. Meriko completes the trade.

* If you can provide several recent art samples that show consistent quality and you promise to abide by my picky-points, then I can probably be persuaded to skip steps 2 and 3. ^^

How to Send Gift Art:

1. The artist sends Meriko the artwork via PM or post in this thread.
2. Meriko squeals with glee and cheekrubs the artist. XD

Reference Information:
Appearance: Letalus is taller than average, standing at an impressive 6'5", give or take. He has pale skin that never seems to tan or burn, sandy brown hair with some blonde highlights and a toned, almost muscular build. Despite handsome features and an athletic confidence, there's nothing exceedingly out of the ordinary about his appearance...other than his eyes. This is the feature I'll be the most picky about: if eyes are truly the window to the soul, then the cool, empty gaze of his pale grey eyes are all the more frightening. His eyes are so light that they almost seem silver and they never seem to absorb or pick up any light. Coupled with his unreadable, blank expression, they seem both dead and malevolent at the same time. (An artist can lend his eyes a "dead" feel by not adding any shine dots/reflection in the iris, if they wish.)

An exception to this is when he's with Merro. Only she can seem to bring out some life in his gaze, either with annoyance/frustration or love/lust.

Not one to stand on vanity, Letalus has few outfits, preferring the practicality of cotton and leather, all in dull shades of brown, grey and black. His usual ensemble is the plain combination of shirt, tunic, breeches and boots, along with black gloves on occasion. He also always wears a trailing, heavy black cloak that has a hood -- this cloak is old and has seen better days, stained and tattered at the hem. At his hip or strapped to his back is a battered leather scabbard, holding a simple longsword.

He does have a few "presentable" outfits at the insistence of his master, including a simple but elegant waistcoat for balls (see third reference pic).

Background: Letalus is the right hand man of Merro's father. He serves a complicated role that's a mix of manservant, butler, groundskeeper, horseman and assassin. Basically, if it needs doing and it needs to be done with mechanical efficiency, Letalus is the man. But what no other person other than Letalus and his master knows is that Letalus is a golem.

Some 300 years in the past, a powerful, brilliant and evil sorcerer created Letalus as the ideal warlord. Unlike the misshapen, monstrous golems that other wizards created from various elements, Letalus was to be such a perfect marriage of sculpting artistry and arcane mechanics that he could pass for human. When the sorcerer marked the still supple clay of Letalus' neck, his body turned to warm flesh and the most ruthless warrior who ever lived was created.

With no need to sleep, eat, drink or even think about anything besides battle, Letalus carried out his master's plan with inhuman precision. Towns and civilizations fell to him and his men and no one was spared. It wasn't until he attacked a temple town that anything changed. An inhumanly beautiful priestess imbued him with an actual soul as he moved to kill her. With all the horror of what he'd been made to do crashing down on his new and fragile psyche, Letalus fled from the temple, the priestess still living, and cornered his master, begging to be freed from the chains of his servitude. The sorcerer, of course, had no inclination to free his coveted slave, but luckily for Letalus, his master was killed by a rival sorcerer later that night.

Suddenly free, but guilt stricken at what he had done, Letalus -- the golem with a soul -- retreated into obscurity, hunted by powerful men who wanted the unique creature for their own. The next few centuries were spent under the control of sorcerers and clever men who wove their control over him like a spider's webbing. Now, the soul he had gained is quite crushed, forced as he has been to do things he had no will to do. He sees no point in fighting it now -- regardless of the spark within him, he is still a golem, and a slave to the whims of men.

Current Requests: (More to be added -- see also Merro's post for other request ideas with Letalus)
  • An old, ancient parchment with a "plan" for Letalus, similar to The Vitruvian Man by Leonardo da Vinci, only with Letalus wearing a loincloth instead of entirely naked. Scrawled around are notes in a dead, ancient language as well as various made-up magical symbols. This would all be just a sketch on tattered, stained parchment and not really colored.
  • Letalus standing protectively behind Merro, one arm outstretched, holding out his sword to the side, staring at the viewer. Merro is in profile, also staring at the viewer, holding her own sword loosely. A breeze stirs their hair and clothes and they appear intimidating, challenging and perhaps a bit malevolent. Neither are smiling.
  • Letalus in full, fantasy-epic armor. I'd leave it to the artist to design the look of it, but I'd like it to be dark, no helm and with a cloak.
  • Chibi Letalus! He can be in any outfit, including armor and either alone or with another character. He wouldn't have the big shiny eyes of most chibis: instead, he'd have an expression like this or similar.
  • Letalus arguing with Merro. Merro would be more animated and fiery, Letalus would be scowling and clearly attempting to not let her get to him, full of cold anger.

Reference Information:

Appearance
: Sentelle has coppery-blonde hair (not dishwater blonde, and not strawberry-blonde; perhaps it would be better described as coppery with blonde high-lights) large green eyes, soft pink lips, and a natural rosy color to her cheeks. Regardless of the time she spends in the sun her complexion remains fair. Standing at 5'8" weighing roughly 180 lbs, she is not bulky, but somewhat toned from time spent wearing armor and training with weapons. She is human, but her celestial bloodline has graced her with great beauty. Her features are soft, and her figure, while not overly curvaceous (no big boobs or hips), is clearly feminine.

Born as a noble and called as a paladin Sentelle carries herself proudly (shoulders back chin up, no slouching). To the causal observer she appears determined and steadfast, yet at the same time something about her is very gentle and most find her presence comforting. Inside she hides a great loss. Widowed at 19 she blames herself for this loss and those who know how to look will find a great sadness just below the surface.

Her celestial bloodline is hinted at by an aura (or glow). She can choose to dim this aura when needed, but it does take effort/concentration. There's no on/off switch. ^.^ In the edit I put together of her I made it a kind of golden glow because it showed up against the white back ground. Basically it's light; it can appear goldish, or silvery, or white. In art of her as a paladin it would be more prominent and softer/less noticeable in art of her in noble clothing.

Paladin: I don't have any clear picture in my mind of specifically what her armor looks like. I'd love to see creativity within reason. Her armor was gifted to her by her in-laws after the death of her husband when she set off to follow the path of a paladin. As such it would have more of an elven/nature look to it than a traditionally human composition. Comprised entirely of mythril her armor includes plate shoulder and chest guards over a chain shirt, plate gauntlets as well as some form of protection for her legs/feet. About her waist is a belt with several pouches. Any visible clothing (such as leggings or a tunic) would be white, blue, or golden in color.

Weapon: Glaive. Again I don't have anything specific pictured for this. It is a straight blade, it is not a glaive-guisarmes (there is no hook on the back). It's functional rather than ornate. The handle is steel, not wood, she does use it in close combat. Wielded in her left hand and only held in pictures where she is in armor. Not in pictures where she is in noble attire.

Lady: Presently I have two semi-specific dresses that I picture her in, one is white with gold embroidery at the hem (floor length), sleeves (hanging sleeves at the elbow) and neckline. Also tied at the waist is a gold cord belt. Her knee length hair is tied back and still wet.
Second I don't picture the dress quite so clearly, but it's formal and her hair is set up in curls. It's
Hunter Green with green and copper leaves embroidered on it.
In general something in the vicinity of 14th century Europe (as with Meriko), in the colors of blue, green, white and metallic accents should be fine. I am also happy with fantasy-type variations. Nothing she wears is going to be skimpy however!

This is not her armor but it might give you a better feel for what I'm talking about with an elven/nature theme.
Last blade on the right is about as close as I can find. Though it's still not quite right.
