Normally, I would see Erika online by now, but she is strangely absent tonight...

crying Erika, where are you?

I got home from theatre at twelve last night and then had an assload of dishes to do (for serious; it took me two sinks of water to clean them all and I had to spread them on the entirety of the main counterspace to dry). I was just too tired to get on. xd

@Unknown Variable: The nerd is strong with this one.

Well, I forgive you. If Seishak doesn't, I'll make him! biggrin

Oh, questions! Yes certainly. If you care to read answers, I can happily provide them

Grimma
... so i'll just have to 'roll with it'? I think not.
Then don't, sorry. I was, basically, asked to apply under the pretense that you were somehow in need of people to do so. So I used what I had on-hand. Though I believe when I said "roll with it", I had also said "if you want an un-confused version just say the word".
Grimma
You seem to think that everyone is intimately familiar with the setting, and go straight in there at the deep end without establishing the basics, which really doesn't help.
Yes, I realise that did happen. This is because I copy/pasted the history from another place, in which it was only being read by people familiar with the setting.
As I'd said when I posted it, I could happily make it less confusing and such -- but it would be much, much longer if I did this, because explaining the setting, how she came to be there, how the setting works, and et cetera ... it would take up space.
And, given that you go on to say that it was too long in that form at all, I was right in assuming you didn't want it any longer than it already was.
Even now, if you want to know about the setting, I would gladly type something up that makes sense. But at the time of "submission" I didn't think anybody really did, so I proceeded in that frame of mind.

Grimma
Appropriate to her history and setting ... too appropriate, really; as if you had a jumble of typical Underdark villainess' attributes, couldn't choose between them and just threw the whole lot together.
Not really, she's wholly unlike the average Drow or Fey'ri. She's somewhat typical as a schizophrenic, I suppose.

Grimma
Oh, and this was such a complete 180* that i had to laugh; "... prefers not to be seen ... keeping to shadows and striking at foes when they don't expect it ... enjoys the energy of melee combat, and rarely keeps herself far from it."
I'm sorry that was a source of confusion, as stated somewhere in there (under fighting style, I believe) it should be noted that she's capable of hiding without cover. That is: she can appear and disappear at whim. So "prefering not to be seen", in that case, would mean stabbing someone from behind, and then vanishing as they turn around.
It would be rather lame for me to just include a list of class abilities, definitions of those abilities, and a chart of feats and skill point distrubution in a profile though. What I wrote was how it was...

Grimma
Effort - You didn't bother trying to bring the information together in any way, or even labelling those links clearly. How hard would it have been to have her physical description in one place? You get a few points for having typed it in the first place though, there's a lot there.
yes, the third link was wholly unnecessary. I'm sorry to have linked it at all. The three linked items serve entirely different purpsoes.
The "main profile" is linked to persons on gaia who are interested in drawing the character and is not publically accessible to other persons I play with because I'm bizzarely paranoid and don't like anybody knowing anything about my character. The "history" is also not publically available to other persons I play with (for the same reason), and was written (admittedly, very quickly) for GM reference.
The third link is publically accessible to persons I play with, and so, yes, her physical description is in both... because typically people are not linked to all three in succession.
Sorry.

Grimma
Did you notice that you switch between past and present tense?
I didn't, does it happen continually or did it happen at a certain point? If it switched over, then it probably did so when it switched from her actual "history" and to when she was created as a character-- so, part of that is a formal "history" that was under my own control, and the rest of it is more-or-less just things that happened around her, that wasn't "my doing".
Grimma
And do you actually know what definition of 'succubus' you are working with - or did you just decide that it sounded cool, so you wanted to include it?
The mish-mashed Dungeons and Dragons succubus, given that she is a Dungeons and Dragons character. They entrap mortal souls, can change shape, and reside in the Abyss. They're on the Tanar'ric side of the Blood War, but besides that -- they don't really make sense in terms of actual succubus mythos. You could blame TSR for that, if you felt so inclined.

Grimma
Also, you really did not need to tell us what servers you played on; not joining you, don't care.
Also sorry, then. I suppose I incorrectly thought that saying she was a "NeverwinterNights character" would convey the fact that she has ability scores, class abilities, numbers, and belongs to a race and world that I didn't make up at all.
And it just sounds unnatural to say "NWN server" without adding the server name after it, it's somewhat reflexive. I didn't intend for anyone to take offense.

It is not my intention to be defensive or nitpicky, I don't expect other people to like my character or something. I submitted that because I was under the impression that you people enjoyed reading other peoples characters and that was why you were asking people to apply. This appears to have not been the case, so I'm sorry I made something into a chore for you, but a lot of your 'review' just seems like it's phrased to insult my intelligence. IE, "And do you actually know what definition of 'succubus' you are working with - or did you just decide that it sounded cool, so you wanted to include it?"
I think you really could have done without that part, and it probably gave this whole response a negative attitude.
Due to Gaia messing about with the forums, we've lost a good deal of archived apps and grades. This has caused us a lot of hassle and has slowed us down. Nonetheless, today we present to you the grades for Mull of Kintyre's character! (linked to profile as the application was lost)

Cartagia
Mull of Kintyre's Mull:

21%/25% Character Personality
8%/15% Physical Design
9%/10% Effort
19%/20% Originality

Comments: That profile made me want to watch Tommy.

I wasn't actually sure what to think of Georgie at first. I read through the profile a few days ago, but I didn't have any strong opinions that surfaced through. Normally even on my first read-through of a profile I'm already finding and noticing things that I'd like to point out, but reading this one ... I didn't. Which is a good thing, I've decided. xd

The history could've used some sort of lead-up into the RP you mentioned to tie everything together a little bit -- you explained his past, his present situation, but it cut off there and I didn't get a good feel for his purpose as a character, if that makes any sense. It just seemed like it ended too soon, or something. I didn't have a feeling of me having read everything important about the character.

I can't say I come across many drug-addicted characters like this. Usually when people tend toward drug abuse/addiction in their OCs it's more of a completely negative tune, like the antagonist being a cokehead or something. I'm always a big fan of drug use not portrayed either as a D.A.R.E. sort of thing (i.e.: "only the bad people use drugs!" wink or just an excessive "Look at this character, he's so badass he takes drugs!"
And I also like how he's not a stereotypical "Duuuuude, that's trippy, maaan" stoner. Just very well done personality and history overall, I don't have any complaints. You've taken something that could've been horribly stereotypical and done a good job with it. Reminds me somewhat of Sherlock Holmes, actually, who would only take cocaine when off of a case because he was bored with the monotony of life then.
My only beef with history is, again, that it seems to cut off too soon.

Profile Execution is many points, because goddamn you wrote it in first person. I would have seriously become an hero if I had to do that. whee Not an easy thing, and definitely a nice combo of out-of-the-ordinary and effective to make it a nice read. 'Course, because of the very nature of that, it suffers from a complete lack of physical description; I can see how it would be hard to have the character kind of naturally describe himself in a profile, but I'm still curious.
And the colors didn't bother me, despite my bad vision.

So, yes, I don't really have many complaints on this profile, either. Your score is, in pretty much every category except Physical Design, nearly as high as it can get.

Grimma

14/20% History - Wonderfully detailed, perhaps a little bit on the waffly side.

11/20% Character Personality - Comes through in the main body of text, but i would have preferred an objective summary.

7/15% Physical Design - I'd have appreciated you taking the time to put some description or notes with the picture, especially since I assume you found it in a catalogue somewhere.

16/20% Effort - Well-written, plenty of depth.

11/15% Originality - Teenage drug addict is nothing new, but you've created an impression of charming insouciance.

5/10% Profile Execution - Different, but not very reader-friendly.

Total = 64%

Comments; I'm looking at the profile in your journal for this, because I am goddamn slow. Unlike erika, i can't say I liked the way you put this together; I don't think it helps get the information across... as i said in an earlier comment, i want to read a profile, not a story. Although I do like your sense of humour biggrin

Well, he too is certainly a change. It's not often you find a unique druggy such as him, and with his history, it makes sense. But it kind of feels like bits of the history are rather short, jumped about, or unlinked -- it gives the idea that he's rather trying to get through it. I have no suggestions, as it was a bit hard to grade a profile done in first person -- it's a bit different.

That gives Mull an average score of 73.75%, earning her a donation of 7k! Congrats!

And that leaves us with one more app before we can announce the Legend of the Month! Stay tuned!

I don't know if anyone gives a happy hoot about my opinion or not, but I couldn't help but thinking this, Anetra_Pendragon, when I read your post above.

It seems, to me at least, and I didn't read -everything- I'll admit, that your biggest problem is translating D&D abilities and feats into story form. I'm afraid so close to when I actually go to sleep I don't really have any actual example I could give, but that's just what came to my mind ^^;;
Ack, and I didn't even think to ask if she asked for extra comments or not redface

crying I'm no good right after work...

Ugh, I hate it when that happens. For me, no sleep = bitchiness... worse than usual, even. razz

Also, Anetra_Pendragon: I personally don't mind seeing D&D-based characters anywhere, but keep in mind that not everyone is familiar with everything about it - Hells, I play D&D, and I had entirely forgotten about the mish-mashed version of a succubus they'd created. Getting snarky at Grimma because she honestly didn't know about that doesn't help anything. And instead of just offering to make it all clearer for the judges if they wanted, you should've done a dumbed-down version of Lilith's profile for people you knew probably weren't at all familiar with D&D or NeverWinter Nights. Sorry, but if I were a judge, I'd just read what was given to me in the first place, because I'm lazy, and because the rules clearly state that once you've submitted a profile, you can't change it.

Just my two cents on the matter.

Familiar Citizen

xD i'm gonna chill with the upside down text before I annoy somebody. just in case. X3

but yeah, lately my days and nights have been flipped. not fun. :o i don't get cranky from lack of sleep, just really.. really.. dead. xd
