Welcome!

Hi, welcome to my avatar archive. I like storytelling with my avatars, so the format of my posts will generally include some thoughts on the item combinations used as well as a brief backstory for the avatar.

About me:

I've been kicking around here since 2007, and my favourite thing has always been creating fun avatars. I recently started being active on here again after a long break, and I am right back to spending hours playing with my pixel doll. It seems like these closet posts are pretty common nowadays, so I wanted to join the trend as a way to show off as well as archive avatars that I otherwise might lose when I'm organizing my wardrobe lol.

Feel free to ask if you see an item that you don't recognize, I'm happy to help you discover new shinies. Also feel free to drop your ghosting code if you want to challenge me to make an avatar with your items in the builder!

What inspires my avatars:

Ever since I was 13 on here playing dressup, I have always found myself making little stories for the avatar that I'm building. If you see an interesting looking character, feel free to ask what backstory (if any) that character has- I'd be happy to prattle about it!

Usually my avatars are in realistic styles, feminine or androgynous presenting, and an alternative/punk fashion. There are exceptions to every rule, of course!

OCs

Most of my avatar creations earn some sort of backstory, but some get names and a developed canon. This post will showcase the latter group that I adore coming back to! I will colour code the names to kind of keep track of which OCs interact with which, 'cause I always have multiple story lines going at once lol

Clara Morris

B. May 10, 1995
Clara is a girlfailure living in Toronto. She recently got dumped by her high school sweetheart and, perhaps even worse, she was also dumped by the band they had started together. Feeling some kinda way about having been replaced by a younger, prettier, and smarter girl and seeing her former band find more success with that new girl, Clara auditioned to be the lead singer for Hana's band. By day, she waits tables at her local Yenny's diner, but by night she transforms into a rock'n'roll queen on stage with Hana. Hana encourages her to sing and play rhythm guitar, while her ex-boyfriend only allowed her to sing. She connects with her rival singer, Erika, due to their similar philosophies on music, life, and art. She finds Erika inspiring due to her tremendous stage presence and electrifying vocals and strives to develop that sort of magic on stage.

Erika Yazawa

B. August 25, 2000
Erika is a Japanese-Canadian who grew up in southern Alberta and moved to Toronto for university. She is the cousin of Hana and Aya and was inspired to take up rock music because of their band. She is currently the singer of a popular campus band. She is enrolled in the pre-law program at her University and insists that music is just a hobby. She is promiscuous and identifies as a lesbian. She had a string of really traumatic relationships, so she decided that maybe love and feelings just aren't for her. Annoyingly, she develops a crush on Clara that she tries very hard to ignore. Her name is a nod to the manga-ka Ai Yazawa, whose storytelling I absolutely adore, as well as the girl-crazypokemon gym leader who specializes in grass-type pokemon!

Hana

B. February 24 1992
Hana is a Japanese-Canadian living in the Toronto area. She is the younger twin sister of Aya and the current lead guitarist/former lead singer of the band. She always felt overshadowed by her sister, right down to never getting to celebrate her birthday on the actual day (it's so troublesome being the twin born at 12:01 AM). She never got to work out those childhood feelings of resentment and her desire to be separate from her sister. She developed a passion for rock music as a tween that would one day lead to a life altering car accident in 2019. Four years after the accident, she picked up her sister's old guitar and started playing the band's old songs and felt like she could finally talk to Aya about everything she couldn't say before.

Aya was a Japanese-Canadian living in the Toronto area. She was the older twin sister of Hana and the original lead guitarist for the band. She was always very attached to her sister, perhaps out of a misplaced sense of guilt over being the golden child of the family? She had a lifelong interest in ballet, but she never fully pursued that in favour of playing rock music with her sister. She tragically passed away in a car accident on the way home one December night after a show in Ottawa, becoming a member of the 27 Club.

Mermaid

Mermaid is a mermaid (name unknown) who washes up on the surface. She is found by the eccentric princess and her ladies in waiting and becomes something of a pet to the Princess. Despite their inability to speak to one another, can they come to understand one another?

Princess Elysha

B. N/A (Age around 18-20)
She is one of the younger of the royal children and on the plain side. She isn't particularly cunning in terms of political leadership, but she is also too much of an eccentric free spirit to have much aptitude for matters of the home. She is arranged to be married off to a relatively low ranking noble in a distant mountain settlement, which sucks because everything she likes is connected to the sea (collecting sea glass, swimming, boating, fishing, etc...). She wants nothing more than to take control of her own life, but the older she gets the more unattainable that seems. And then one day she discovers the most curious fish washed up on the beach...

What's not to like about a demon girl? Seriously, Gaia was built on the backs of demon girls with all the classic MCs exploring the Demonic/Angelic duality. Edgy teens (myself included) on Gaia ate that stuff up lol

It's been a while since I made a new bride, but when i was uploading my old bride avatars the other day I wanted to make a new one. This one I went with a more haughty look! Maybe a bit of a bridezilla, I feel like this girlie spent the past year and a half planning THE perfect wedding and won't let anyone or anything get between her and HER perfect day.

Today I got a new wig, so I wanted to make an avatar with it!

I liked the combination of the blue shade of Slash Blush with the face mod from Seraphic Fox (not going to link to it because full disclosure i am currently selling a spare copy of this item in my shop, I don't want yall to think I'm pulling any funny business) looks great for a sleepy eye bags look. I think it's the combination of the built-in blush on the face mod dulling the blue of the blush.

It came together and gave me major Frieren vibes, so I slapped some elf ears on there (they don't layer perfectly with the hat). I'm pleased with the whole look, I haven't managed to use the Withered Pomiandi legs yet and they work really well here. The greens and magentas make a surprisingly good combination (ok, not that surprising, now that I type that out I remember that they are complementary colours!)

I imagine this elven adventurer is wandering the lands looking for interesting tea leaves. She is never seen without her teapot, which she has been carrying with her for centuries on her quest for rare blends and brews. Currently she has descended into a kings' tomb that is rumored to hold what was thought to be a long-extinct herb.

Hello again! Today I had the day off and so I spent it mucking around in my closet after a hectic Costco run (day before a stat holiday in my region, it is what it be).

in a tale as old as time, I got a new wig and had to make something with it. I settled on something very mysterious, it feels straight out of a Victorian London mystery novel. Our hero has been attacked and mortally wounded by a shadowy figure when they were just on the verge of uncovering the last piece of evidence to break the case!

I was actually super close to trying to sell the background item, to the point that I removed it from my shop to complete this avatar! I'm super pleased that I found a use for it.

I've been working on this one for like a week and I'm still not totally sold on the bottom half if I'm being honest. The whole avatar just feels like it's missing... something? Do you ever just get so frustrated with an avatar that you're just like "whatever. i give up. send it!"? I feel like pulling out my hair (figuratively because it's an avatar and not that serious).

So I just spent a whole paragraph complaining about this look, why did I even share it? I really like the jacket and the sweater combo. The greens are just real cute together plus layering the undershirt that just peeks out... argh, so freaking cute idk?

I don't really have a story for this one, I struggled too much making the avatar. emotion_facepalm

WOW. Two avatars in one day. I like this one a lot more tbh, bear with me 'cause she has weird explanations. (edited to add an alternate version with fins for ears I forgot i had that item, but it's a good indication of her being a mermaid)

My vibe with her is that she's kind of a Little Mermaid sort of character. She is a mermaid that goes to the surface and doesn't speak the language. I've been playing with this specific design for a few months now, but with that anglerfish going viral for making a final journey to see the sun it made me want to incorporate her into this mermaid's design. Hence, using more black accents and adding the sun emblem to her circlet.

I have always wanted to adapt the Little Mermaid (not the disney version but like the OG fairytale) into a sapphic story but nothing's quite clicked for me, so I keep dropping and then revisiting the idea. I kind of picked the idea back up when Spotify showed me the song Tongues by Joywave and I related it however loosely to Little Mermaid. My current vision with the storyline really leans into the lead characters not being able to communicate (I still haven't settled on an idea/vision for the princess, just my mermaid lmao) and ends with the mermaid dragging the princess into the sea (getting into a siren/horror vibe? idk)

So yesterday after I admitted to completely being lost at coming up with an idea for how my princess character should look, I got to work! I just didn't want to triple post yesterday, so I figured I would post them today. Introducing Princess Elysha!

So the third image (yellow ballgown) was my first idea for her. It's a little boring imo, just stock standard Disney princess. So then I started thinking, what sort of climate I liked for her (tropical, ocean-y...) and what sorts of fabric and garments would be more... that? Idk, I really like what I have so far. The first image would be more of a daily outfit and the second would be a formal one.

I wanted her to have big, round eyes compared to most of my other avatars and I wanted her to use bright yellows and golds to represent the sun. I added some blues/teals because that's what I had in my inventory of her affinity to the sea, I think it helps break up the yellows/golds.
