Hello everyone! Welcome to the 11th annual Gaia Spirit Week! Gaia Spirit Week is an annual user-run event taking traditional dress-up themes and adding a Gaian twist to them! For one week, each day there is a new theme to take part in and there are numerous ways for you to interpret them so don't be shy let's get the celebration started!

We take this week to show our support and to thank the Admins and Moderators that have kept the site going as well
as thanking the Artists and Developers that bring us new content for Gaians to enjoy. heart Since 2003 they've given us a
great way to meet fellow writers, artists, gamers, and anime enthusiasts which have created lasting friendships.

Varlot was a founding member and moderator of Gaia Spirit Week. Sadly, we lost her in an accident in 2013.
Her friend Raven (l_RavenPandorah_l) helped immortalize her with the "mourning armband".
We keep her spirit alive and with us through Gaia Spirit Week.

Hello Everyone -

During this week in honor of Varlot
I think it would be nice to suggust wearing:

click it to be taken to marketplace.

I find that since Varlot is wearing red for durem on her final avatar
and ironically this item has a "v" and it's called the "mourning armband"...
I think it would be nice for us all to wear.

Also, if GSW holds the event like they have done for the past years
I say during that week when you hold the 2013 GSW event ~
that we should wear it as a rememberance as well.

Remember everyone that
Varlot may be gone physically ~ but with us she will never be gone nor' forgotten
and we thank her (as well as everyone else) for all they have done.

I have posted a similar message like this today in my GSWAP thread -
but I wanted to share it here as well
so I hope it is okay.

July 22nd

masks can make one appear as somebody they aren't,
or even as something which doesn't exist.
Show your secret side and dress with a mask of any sort!

July 23rd

Mondays are a drag, but your avatar doesn't have to be!
This day is for the fans of Rupaul's Drag Race and fans of the art of drag in general.
Now's the time to head into your closet, pull out that "sequins" dress,
and bring it to the runway, runway, RURUrururuRU-runway.

July 24th

The sun's out and the flowers are in a full, vibrant blossom.
Dress as a gardener or even dress representing a plant, flower, fruit/vegetable, or trees.
Let your Gaia Spirit flourish and thrive!

July 25th

Everyone has a teddy bear, kitten, or puppy plushie
stored away in their closet or better yet a large collection of plushies out on display.
Today’s the day to dust them off and bring them out for a GSW celebration!

July 26th

The beach, the sun, the sand, the... sharks?! SURF'S UP GSW!
Beat the heat by catching some waves or by spending a day out in the pool!
Island Paradise Day brings out the summer fun in everyone.
It also brings out every other kind of summer activity!
Are you a savvy local? A kid in their first pair of floaties?
Or even a sunburned tourist? Summer Paradise Day has you covered!
(No sunscreen included!)

July 27th

Following yearly traditions, we will leave the last day for all of the GSW participants to decide on.
We will start a poll upon the opening ceremony of Gaia Spirit Week 2018.
Everyone will have the chance to vote for their favorite possible day from a list.
The poll will remain open until Thursday at 5pm Pacific Standard Time, giving everyone a few hours to decide on their avis before the midnight screenies.

GSW has assigned a specific color for each year to dress up in.
Dress your avi and join fellow participants that joined the year you did in screenies and Class Competition!
Over the years, a tradition has sprung up in which some participants choose to wear a rainbow item to signify unity of all classes.
Join the others in a celebration for all the years Gaia has been here for us!

Raffle:

Here at Gaia Spirit Week we're running the most cliche contest; a Raffle! One ticket costs 10,000,000 gold or 1 Platinum. Just send Rafie_The_Raffel_Rabbit a trade request with the proper amount of gold (10,000,000 gold (1 Platinum) for one ticket, 20,000,000 gold (2 Platinum) for two, etc.). Title your trade request "I Want Raffle Tickets Please" and we will assign you a random number for each ticket. You can buy as many raffle tickets as you want!

At the end of Spirit Week, we'll hold a random drawing using the random number generator. Don't worry about getting the numbers for your tickets, we keep track of it for you. The Raffle Contest will end at 11:59PM EST on July 27th (Friday), and winners will receive their prize some time on July 28th (Saturday). So be sure to send in a trade before that!

Disclaimer: You can only win a maximum of one prize in the raffle contest.

Class Competition:

Rivalry between the classes can get pretty intense sometimes, so to facilitate that we've got the class competition. People take pride in their classes and they tend to declare that loudly to other Spirit Weekers. Each year the mods get together and pick the top three classes who demonstrated their awesomeness the best and we give them trophies. And, of course, bragging rights. How can you help your class win? Participate in everything! Show your dedication to your class and claim your pages! Be spirited like no other! Do everything to the extreme! Just don't explode.

Art Competition:

The theme for this years art contest for this is: Draw anything GSW related! The deadline for this competition is Friday, July 27th at 11:00pm eastern. Be sure to have your work submitted by then! Winners will be revealed sometime Saturday, July 28th. Good luck!

In the past we've seen some pretty outstanding Gaians come through GSW. People who go way above and beyond what they have to for GSW.
