My dad's been struggling with lymphoma for years now, since before I started college. He managed to beat it back once, but now he's undergoing chemo for the second time in as many years. The doctors say that lymphoma is highly treatable, but dad's really having a rough time of it with his.

A dear friend of mine died from Hodgkins lymphoma in our early twenties. It's supposed to be one of the more treatable cancers, but he didn't go to a doctor to get checked out until it was too late.

I currently have lymphoma, and am undergoing treatment. The initial diagnosis was marginal zone B-cell lymphoma, but I got a second opinion with another doctor today who said it looks like it might be a different kind, primary mediastinal lymphoma, which would need a more aggressive treatment. She's going to have some other doctors review the information and see if my treatment ought to be modified.

Either way, the prognosis is good. I've been having remarkably few symptoms and it's very likely that whichever kind I have, it can be fully cured. smile

Lymphoma has taken 3 people from my life. (cancer in general, 4). My cousin's daughter died (in her early 30s) due to a swelling on the brain that was a side effect of the cancer, treatment, etc. Her mom, my cousin, later died after fighting it for years, often with periods of success. A year ago, this month, my mother-in-law died from it. She had beaten it twice before; once 16yrs ago, once 8yrs ago. This time, all they could do was manage pain.
