As in all shops, there will be rules. Rules to posting, rules to orders, rules to rping, and rules to breeding. I'm very sorry, I'd much rather there not to be any rules, but unless I make some people aware of the boundaries in this shop, I can't expect things to stay orderly. I like orderly you know. s**c and span.
1. Please follow Gaia T.O.S. (Terms of service).
2. Please don't come in here and ruin everyone's fun. It's not a pleasant thing when someone comes around just to play head games. If you're having an issue with someone for something they did, or for some circumstance, or whatever, please bring things up with me first before you start trashing, otherwise it might be you who is banned from coming back.
3. There are no guidelines to roleplay, only that if something important happens and you want someone in particular to reply, let them know. I'm very fond of story, and whatever happens here is welcome. Cybering, or sexual situations, are not permitted. Please skip that. Kissing, hugging, romance, SURE!! Just please no horizontal limbo. stare
4. Breeding can only happen between a female and a male. There are no same gendered breedings. If there happens to be a same gendered couple that wishes children, you might choose to have another couple have pups for you or host a parent.
5. All orders will be PM'd to me. If you can't properly read the form guidelines in the proper section, I will firstly remind you, but furthermore ignore your requests. I like to have straightforward and cleanly orders, please! 3nodding
6. Anyone seen breaking any of the rules above (to an extent that I am forced to take lawful action) will be placed on the blacklist, banned, and their pets taken away. This will likely not happen often if at all, but please note that I am serious about the rules.
7.I have the right to make, create, alter, or add to the rules at any time.

For Millions of years, Dogs have been man's best friend. Allies to primitive man as an early warning from predators or unfriendly tribes, the dog's co-existance with humans grew to help hunting, become guard dogs, use in herding and livestock, helping the disabled, searching for those lost and tracking others, and saving lives, amongst the most important of uses, being our forever friends.
And in the 22nd century, humans decided that our furry friends diserved not only our undying love for their courage, loyalty, and friendship, but also our intelligence.
In 2108, under the rule of the first World President Cameron Hardy, scientists successfully made the first humanly intelligent dogs, able to understand human speach, have their own language, and think quite like we do, keeping their ancestral appearance. It surprisingly didn't take them long to do so either. In only a few short years the first intelligent dog was presented to Cameron Hardy himself. The dog, a male Golden Retriever by the name of Albert, was the first to prove that not only was high intelligence in dogs possible, but when breeded the pups retained the same high brain power of the smarter dog. Intelligence was a dominant gene, it seemed.
What happened after Albert can only be called chaos, for he and his brothers came at a pivotal moment in the Human line. In 2099, with weapons of mass destruction on his side, Cameron Hardy had taken the world as captive, and began changing the legislations of the world to fit a common goal; his goal. Where it seemed not so destructive in the beginning, Cameron's goal to fix the earth's degredation from human presence was highly destructive. He destroyed without revolt half the world's population, mostly in poverty-ridden and third world countries, and the remaining half were put into work to sustain agriculture, destroy machines and power-plants, and rid the world of everything humans had learned were normal things to have in the 21st century. No more computers, phones, machines, robots, internet, or for that matter, electricity to most places, and definately no cars or anything to burn a fossil fuel.
Naturally the humans under this terrible reign wished to revolt, but the World President had a simple plan for these members of society as well: kill them. He had no moral issue with destroying any member of society if they didn't like his way of life, because in his mind if anyone did anything like those in the 21st century, the world would die and everyone with it. Few for the good of many.
But this ideal, however heinous and wrong, kept people in their places, and in secrecy one revolt prevailed. A super-virus, created in one of the many labs that Cameron Hardy had allowed to continue the ethically questionable tests that other generations had condemned, was let loose, and killed not only the world president and his comrades, but everyone else as well. Some, however unseemly, had a natural immunity to the virus. A mere 2% of the world's population survieved, now alone, afraid, and without any comfort to help them on their way save their own brains. They moved into groups, and stayed in cities far away from the ruins of old, and made life anew.
Dogs watched from the sidelines, unable to do a thing about the destruction, and immune to it's power.
The last written paper on dogs was a newspaper article in 2116, four days before the outbreak. Within it said that all known breeds of dog had at least a few litters of intelligent dogs, and that there were around 4000 known worlwide that all spoke the same bark-language amongst themselves, teaching it to other generations as easily as humans do to their children.
It is now 2316, two hundred years since the fall of man. Dogs have flourished, and with their own intelligence have ruled the world in Man's stead. They live within and beyond the old cities of man, and throughout them they refer to the world as Scarcescape.

Dog Stages are few, but the variations are many. It's a small sacrifice, but the purpose behind Mutts of Scarcescape are for breeding variations. All dog lineart is non-gender-specific, which means a dog of the same breed and a different gender will only be different by the 'male' or 'female' difference in the Cert.
Dogs of all shapes and sizes are differed by their colors, which vary to every color of the rainbow, based a bit on parent's color.
Newling
Freshly born, the pup doesn't generally have any to much motor function or personality. It stays in this stage for 2weeks.

Pup
This is a representation of the dog not right out of the womb, but months old. It has it's permanent color, but not it's final shape or fur length. It stays in this stage for 4weeks.

Adult
There are 48 linearts of adult dogs varying from Extra Large (Great-dane) to Tiny (Papillon) in size, and lots of different shapes, builds, and features based on actual breeds of dog today. This is it's last stage.

Breeding is the main feature of Mutts of Scarcescape. For all the purposes of the Shop, there will be a bit of a science to it. Determining features in pups produced from two different parents can be charted by most dominant things, such as facial structure, build, and size. A medium between the parents is usually the choice, but on occaision there is a difference within pups of the same litter. Why? Because genes of the Grandparents might uprise for one reason or another.
Breeding within Tribes is meant to be between two different looking Dogs. It is believed in Tribes that two dogs of the same appearance might weaken intelligence, although only a superstition. Still most dogs don't appear alike to begin with, and therefore dogs have a constantly mixed blood. All dogs are Mutts!
An easy way to chart color variances in dogs would be to look at the chart below.

*assumes nerdy pose*
If mom is Violet and Blue, and dad is Black and Red, their pups might be any mix of the four colors, really, to possibly different patterns as well.
Litters will be shared between dog parent owners. If there is a litter of 3 or 5 the odd pup out will have the option of being owned by one or the other, and if an agreement can't be made it will be co-owned.
You may also put pups up for events, however this is a free thing. It will usually be a raffle or other special event that doesn't lead to a profit, such as a roleplay contest.
You may sell your pups, but for no more than their bought price (10000gold per littter.) If there is a litter of 2=5000 gold each/ 3=3300 gold each/ 4= 2500gold each/ 5= 2000gold each/ 6= 1600 gold each. The point of that is so that the pups aren't making you a profit out of anyone's artwork.
Litters are from 2-6 pups each, depending.
There are only 3 slots for breedings, costing 10000 gold per litter.

I will keep Customs simple. There will be four different choices of Custom dogs: Random, Common, Uncommon, and Rare. The basic coloring of dogs are as such, but can be MUCH more complex.

For dog lineart examples see Stages please!
*The option for Payment below is for people who don't wish to pay with gold, and want to pay with items or trades.
Random
10000 gold
Fill out the form below for a dog created from random. Lineart, colors, and details are chosen at random, therefore you could get a common, uncommon, or rare dog, depending.

Flatsales will likely happen every month or so, with the date of the next flatsale determined at the end of the current one. A flatsale is a sale of a pre-determined, Growing dog that is sold for 7000 gold each. A dog will have a picture of it's beginning stage, and a number that you must use to identify it when posting an order form.
*The 'Payment' option below is to state which way you'd like to pay. There is an option to pay with items as well, just so long as their value is equal to the determined price.

An auction will be a highest bidder wins event held within a certain amount of time over a pet displayed in this area.

As you may know from having read the posts of the shop already, breeding is a main feature of the dogs here in Mutts of Scarcescape, and most colors in pups are determined by their parents. And guess what?! COTTON CANDY HAS ALL OF THEM. Yup. He's good to give you a wide variety.
Starting bid is 3000gold.
Auction starts July 17th/08, and ends July 25th/ 08, highest bid wins.

This is the Owners List.
All dogs live in Tribes, which are very much like Wolf Packs, although comprised of Mutts of all sizes. The structure of Tribes are very human-like, but usually still have Leaders or Alpha's which are a couple elected by the others of the tribe to lead. There isn't always an Alpha.
When you create a dog from scratch, you may choose a tribe to join. If you create pups, they will join the mother's tribe.

Due to a glitch with 'random number' posts, I can't edit the 'raffles section. This will be the place to truly find raffles.
Raffles are a game of chance over a custom Mutt that will be posted as a picture within this section. You purchase tickets, which will be for a certain amount of gold each, and sometimes for a certain limited amount, and when the tickets are sold out or the raffle date comes to an end, the random choice will begin.
Say 400 tickets are sold. The post action taken above will determine the winner, and whoever owns the ticket will win the pet!
Raffle: Golden!
This raffle's winner will recieve 'Golden'! Maximum: 2000tickets
Tickets are 50g each.

F.A.Q.
(Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: Do the pets in this shop Grow?
A: Yup, unless you purchase a dog in an adult stage or it specifically says somewhere within the post that it will not grow. On occaision there might be a problem with getting and certing the next stage of growth for your pet, but be assured that it will come! Dogs that will grow are generally sold in the 'newling' stage, a picture of a bone colored differently.
Q: Can the pets in this shop Breed?
A: Yes again! They're actually moreso meant for the breeding portion. The large amount of lineart available gives a wide variety of possibilities!
Q: How do I get a pet?
A: Well, there's a few different ways, most of which you'll have to pay for one. Flatsales happen around once a month to dogs of different sizes and variances, some of them grow and some of them don't. Raffles are a bit like playing the lottery, but if you don't have a lot of gold it's a good way to try for a pet. Auctions are for special pets that go to the highest bidder.
Other than that there are Special Events, which will be determined at the time of their placement. Examples of special events are Roleplaying Challenges, in which case the person with the best story wins the pet, and Bumping Challenges, where the person with the largest amount of legitimate bumps is given the pet.
You can also buy a Custom Pet, which is a little more expensive, but you generally get what you want that way!
Q: Can I roleplay?
A: Yes. I like it when people roleplay, to the point where I get ahead of myself and want this to be a roleplaying place, but as a shop it can't really be without failure. So, if you want to roleplay, you go right ahead, and I'll leave you to it. Whatever happens is up to your imagination!
For a general idea on setting etc check the 'Story' post (#3).
Q: If I buy a pet, can I choose which cert they're on?
A: YES! There are 4 different colored (but generally the same-looking) certs to choose from. A Blue, Pink, Green, and Purple. If you don't pick one, I'll pick the cert closest to your dog's color, but if you want to choose for yourself please let me know!
Q: I see there's a I.D. section on the cert. What's that for?
A: The I.D. section is so that I can easily locate your dog within my files if I need to reference it for a breeding. I save your certed dog as it's I.D. so that they are not only in order, but easy to locate. The I.D. is not in any way a form of identifying your dog in the roleplay world, it's just for me.
Q: There's also a Parents section on the cert. What's that for?
A: It's so that I know who'se the parents of your dog. On occaision I will look at not only the parents, but the grandparents of some dogs to see what is more likely to happen with the appearance and colors of your pups. It is a bit difficult to fully explain, but be assured that it goes towards a potentially more accurate breeding.
Q: How do I see what my pet looks like? I missed the posting of it's growing.
A: It's new stage, or current stage, will be it's picture in the owner's list (Tribes post). There should be a small link, likely your dog's name, that when clicked will bring you to their picture in a new window.
Q: How do I see the last stage?
A: The last stage of your dog will be gone when it is replaced with it's current stage, so if you'd like to keep the stages before last please save them to your own computer!
Q: How many pups do you get for a breeding?
A: 2 to 6, generally, all growing.
Q: How long to dogs stay in stages before moving on?
A: See 'Stages' Post for more details on that one.
Q: How do I choose custom lineart?
A: There is a (crowded) chart with all the linearts and numbers on them in the Stages post. You may refer to the lineart by it's number or breed name.
Q: I have a Small dog and a Large dog, why can't they breed?
A: Dogs can only breed with dogs 1 size above and below, for physically obvious reasons.
Q: Can I sell my dog?
A: Yes, but only so long as it isn't for a profit. What you paid for it is the max of what I will allow the pet to be resold for. That would be making a profit off of my art, which is scamming me, which I dislike very much. If you are caught doing that I will blacklist you. You can also sell your pups, which is explained in more detail under 'Breeding'.
Q: Can I be linked to you?
A: Yeah! Just PM me with a banner of yours and a link to your shop (or a url if you know what you're doing) and I'll put you under links! If you want my banner, PM me also.
