Hey there, welcome! I'm tiranaki, though my friends call me Naki, and this is my first art contest. I'm an artist myself but I love collecting art, and I decided it was finally time I indulged in my guilty pleasure in the form of a contest. Short Intro ->
What we are: Dark and twisted, we're those, yeah those freaks that hide in the shadows.
What we want: High quality, dark, serious art, couple art, group art, of all of us, a couple of us, friends with friends, lovers with lovers, haters and enemies, together. (I'm being metaphorical.)
What you get: Prizes, many prizes, love, fame and glory. (Love, fame and glory not guaranteed.)
For how long: February 28, 2011 Extended until April 24th 11:59 PM EST.

Long Intro ->
As mentioned above, I want high quality art, but not just of my avatar, oh no. I want art of my avatar and my friends, I want couple and/or group art. Don't sweat though, I DO have a category for art of my avatar alone. This is a couple/group contest though, keep that in mind.

What KIND of art? HIGH QUALITY. Please see the F.A.Q at the bottom of this post for more info as to what I mean by "high quality".

Preferably dark art. Opposite of cute. Dark, dreary, moody, sexy, seductive, amazing, I'll even take emo art. But again, don't sweat, I DO have a cute category wink

If you're not sure if your art is high quality enough, enter anyway! I have many prizes to give away, regardless of skill level.

What mediums? Traditional, digital, pixels, I don't care, so long as the art is yours and not copied, traced or eyeballed. Collaborations are fine, but it's up to you to decide how to split the prize if you win.

Styles? Whatever you're comfortable with, though I do have some specifications for my own avatar, which I will list in the avatar section.

I may be an Omni Mod but please do NOT ask mod related questions in this thread.
Goes without saying, follow TOS, and Art Contest forum rules, etc etc

Everyone is welcome, please stop by and keep me company.
I reserve the right to extend the contest until I feel I have received enough art to qualify for the prizes I am awarding.
I will be the primary judge though I will ask my friends for their opinions as well.
I reserve the right to add more rules as I see fit. I agree not to REMOVE any rules once added
Submitting an entry means you are entering into a binding contract with me, I hereby promise to hand out prizes once my requirements have been met.

Requirements to win the Overall Grand Prize, 2nd and 3rd Runner Up Prizes
Must be high quality art. Must be couple or group art. My avatar must be in the art. Must be "Dark" themed.
Requirements for Overall Best Single, 2nd and 3rd Runner Up Prizes
Must be art of my avatar only. Must be high quality. Must be "dark" themed.

Requirements for other categories
Traditional means it has to be made with non digital mediums (some digital enhancement is fine). Watercolors, markers, colored pencils, pen and ink, etc. All skill levels are eligible for this prize.
Digital is self-explained, done on the computer, Photoshop, Illustrator, Painter, SAI, whatever. Does not have to be entirely done on the computer, just that most of the work was digital. All skill levels.
Darkest means the picture that best fits the theme, regardless of skill level or if it's a single or couple piece.
Cutest will be awarded to the piece that is well... the cutest. All skill levels, can be single or couple.

Requirements for Honorary Mentions
HMMM TIS A SECRET. Everyone is eligible. 5 Million Gaia gold will be split up into different amounts to be handed out at random. Does not matter if you didn't submit an entry, people that participate in the thread are eligible as well.

F.A.Q
How many times can I enter?
No limit, enter as many times as you want!
What do you mean by high quality?
I am referring to artwork that is as finished and as polished as you could possibly get it depending on your skill level. You don't have to be a master artist, beginner/amateur, intermediate, advanced, doesn't matter. What does matter is that your piece is presentable. I'm sorry, but I don't want sloppy work. Please try to make sure that it is also large enough. This isn't a signature space, you don't have to resize.
How large is "large enough"?
1000 pixels or larger is FINE, larger is better. If you HAVE to make it smaller, please don't make it smaller than 800 pixels. If you've already submitted art and it's smaller than these requirements, you may resize it if you want, but I won't hold it against you. I may ask you to submit a larger piece though if you win, as I would like to have a large version for my gallery.

My Avatar
My avatar represents a sort of original character that has developed from my years spent on Gaia. She's a little like me but also a lot different from me. I call her Naki (which is what my friends call me actually lol) and she is undead. That is her story. She loved and lost terribly, to the point of losing her life, but was rewarded for her love with a second life, though not quite as a alive as the first. Although a rather dark and serious woman, she has a lighter side as well, she is coy, and flirty, cursed to fall in love over and over again. She loves passionately and never forgets those she has loved.

Hair - Basics: Hair can be either of the colors shown (red, white, black, dark brown) or a mix.
Long, always, even if the avatar has short hair, please draw it long instead.
Hair Details -optional but preferred: Bottom tips of hair are colored. The tip color can be blonde, red, or alternating. In the case of WHITE HAIR, make the bottom ends red.

Appeal
Appeal is awesome! She is one of the few people to also own a rare fish mask so it'd be really awesome if we were both drawn with our fish masks on. Not on our faces like a mask though, more like a hat, if that makes sense. I'll probably give a special bonus to anyone that attempts this as drawing the masks tends to be hard!

How It Works ->
Place the contest signature banner in your signature or make a banner of your own. Post as much as possible wherever you can! Do not spam. Follow rules of the threads and forums you are posting in. Do not place the banner or link to contest in your post style, it's against the rules. Signatures only!
You Will Win -> 100k to 500k from the 5 million prize pot depending on how much you advertised and how many people participated.
How to participate -> From now, Sunday January 30th, 2011 until the end of the contest, keep the contest banner in your sig and post as much as possible within Gaia but outside of this contest thread. If you post 100 times, you get 100k. If you post 200 times, you get 200k, and so forth. Please PM me to let me know you are participating so that I may keep track of your posts. If you don't PM me it will not count.

How It Works ->
Pretty simple. Find art shops and other contest threads that would like to exchange links with me. Follow their rules. If they agree to exchange, PM me so I can add the code and keep track. Whoever submits the most link exchanges from now Sunday January 30th, 2011 until the end of the contest wins 300k.

Referral Contest
How It Works ->
Let people know about the contest! You may do so by telling your friends or any artists you may know and think might be interested. If they decide to participate and submit art, you will earn 100k. You may refer more than one person. Please do NOT post in threads or harass people into participating. If it comes up in regular conversation, that's great, but do NOT go around posting in art shops/threads randomly saying or PMing "you should participate in this contest here" and nothing else. That is advertising and it's not allowed on Gaia, I won't tolerate it, and anyone found doing so will be disqualified. Please PM me and let me know if you have referred someone so I can check and see if they did submit art or not.
Example of how to correctly refer someone: Let's say I have friends that are artists, if I'm talking with my friends and mention that there is an art contest they should check out, and they do, and submit art, that's a referral.
Example of a wrong referral that will get you disqualified: I go around to every single art shop I can find and post "Hi, your art is wonderful! I think you should check this contest out!" and then leave.

Lawl, SO!

Mini contest, generate a random number 1-100, whoever lands on 17 OR 98 gets 81k from the 5 mil prize pot!

HOWEVER, no bumps allowed, must be within normal conversation. whee

I mean a few hearts here and there are ok, but no excessive bumping, to make it fair.
Oh and of course, this must be done before page 100, or up till page 100. If the requirement isn't fulfilled by page 100... I'll think of another contest for the next landmark page number, and so forth.
