X's Journal
Nao told me about what happened to him after prom when Karma returned him wet, exhausted, and muddy.

From what I gather, it seems that all the Fa'e went crazy due to something, and it affected Nao too. He said that the darkness was attacking him, the moon laughing at him.

Then he said something about him making it go away by glowing. I really doubt that.

Either way, Nao's been sleeping for quite a while now, so I decided, with the help of Zelda and Nathan, to put up a bunch of hummingbird feeders around the grounds. Just in case Nao gets stuck outside he won't die.

Maybe when he's older we'll plant some of those flowery plants that teeny birds like.

When all the shorties are older.

Speaking of older, the twins have grown yet again and I'm afraid Dari's taken after my not so polite side. Hopefully he'll straighten out, or at least Zach will keep him in check.

Ana needs feeding... again, so this will just have to stay short.

-X
Having left Slush and his brigade of children he had been babysitting in search of food, Nao was very happy to see a feeder ahead of him.

The moment he landed, the Fa'e dug in, stuffing his beak delicately into the feeder and drinking happily. He was so focused on his yummy tasting meal that he failed to notice a second pair of wings buzzing by him.

"Hey a*****e." Snapped a voice next to him.

Nao simply looked around startled.

"Yeah you, you little s**t." The voice continued once Nao had come in eye contact with the source, "Let me tell you a little about how things work around here. These are my feeders, and I decide who drinks and who doesn't. Got it?"

In fact, Nao didn't quite absorb what he had said, for he was still gawking at the source of this voice: a very angry looking wasp.

"Um... I'm sorry but these are all mine, my moth--"

"Are you talking back to me?!" He roared, stinger moving to point at the little bird.

"No I'm just info--"

"That's what I thought you sissy bird, now I suggest you run along before I give you a little acupuncture if you know what I mean?" The wasp stared at him for a moment, and when Nao didn't move fast enough, he let out a battle cry and went charging after the Fa'e, stinger armed and ready.

Nao gave a shriek and took off, eyes wide and heart racing... HE WAS GOING TO DIE!

"What are you a p***y?!" Screamed the crazed pursuer, who was still hot on Nao's tail feathers.

Nao tore past the kitchen window, screaming like a little girl at the top of his lungs all the while. He didn't even try to defend himself, this crazy wasp obviously didn't listen to reason.

As the buzzing got closer, Nao panicked and pulled up, looping till he dropped behind the wasp. "Ah HA!" The Fa'e taunted as a new sense of control came into him.

It didn't last long.

The wasp turned sharply and charged at Nao, "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ********!"

Nao nearly cried right then and their, crapping himself before resuming his shrieks and fleeing. He really was going to die! He didn't want to die!

"Don't kill MEEEEE~!" He begged, flying as fast as he could around the outskirts of the house till he spotted what he was looking for, an open window. Taking a sharp turn to the right, Nao dove into hopeful safety.

He didn't calculate what would happen if the wasp followed him into the house, and the renewed battle cry of the wasp behind him caused Nao to go wide eyed and resume his shrieking.

"Though you'd LOST me you little useless squatter?! You're a** is MINE!"

Nao found himself in the kitchen in no time, cornered by the wasp and shaking. He whimpered, which seemed to make the wasp happy.

"That's right b***h, cry like a little girl... You ugly sack of sh--"

Wham! The wasp was cut short but the back of a well swung frying pan sandwiched the wasp between it and the wall.

The suddenness of said motion had caused Nao to crap on the counter, not that he noticed that while he was staring at the familiar figure.

"Gods damn, I hate wasps." X mused, glaring at the back of the frying pan before tossing it in the sink and turning her attention to Nao. She watched him for a moment before scooping him up in one hand and wiping up his mess with a paper towel with her free hand. "I think it's time for some grape juice."

The Fa'e nodded, attention pulled from what just happened at the prospect of a juice box, and X was thankful for his short attention span.
Return.

It was night again, and the Fa'e was home, sleeping on a handmade bed of sorts that Zelda had fashioned for him. Apparently, the Jivvin adored the fact that Nao could fend for himself against Navi even at this size, and had decided to help him build a hummingbird sized bed for him up on his bay windowsill.

It was there that the bird was currently sprawled, sleeping in a very un-hummingbird like fashion.

He had forgotten how long he had been in this state; no one really knew for sure since he had been alone when... it happened. In fact, he had gotten quite used to it by now, and was even beginning to be able to transfer a few English words mentally to people when he was talking to them.

Everything was getting back to a sense of normality, or as much as a house with such inhabitants could become 'normal.'

However, as of late the Fa'e's nights were becoming restless. Countless times did he wake up in a sort of cold sweat, where he was clammy, tired, and weak. Because of this, he took to only sleeping until such happened, and then he stayed up the rest of the night perched on his personal feeder in his room.

Days he went like this. Nao had become so tired that he wouldn't even go outside on the sunniest days, content instead to simply sit in the sun and soak up her rays.

But his body had to eventually catch up, and despite his best efforts, the Fa'e fell asleep one afternoon when the sun was shining bright, the warmth lolling the tiny hummingbird into the rest his body needed.

And sure enough, the dreams began again...
The Truth.

With the sun shining brightly, Nao found himself in a luscious garden, full of butterfly bushes and other nectar rich flowers. Soon enough, temptation was too great and he dove into the nearest bloom with a mental squeal.

Dream or not he was going to enjoy this flower's sweet offerings to him.

"I'm sorry it had to be this way my dear Naolin." A voice came from behind the Fa'e, in clear and strongly accented Nahuatl.

The voice startled the Fa'e, who spun around and put distance between the two of them immediately, heart beating as rapidly as his wings. He recognized the other immediately as the man who had showed him the warrior earlier.

Nao relaxed and let out a soft sigh of relief, tongue sticking out to lick up the remnants of his quick snack before blinking and eyeing the Aztec, "You were the one who tried to dream..."

After a pause, the man nodded.

Wait a minute here! Nao glared at the man, fluffing up his feathers in agitation, so he was the one who had caused him all that not sleeping time? How rude.

"Let me explain... There is so much to tell, but only small amounts that would be proper at this time in your life." He sighed, rubbing a hand through his hair before motioning that he was going to sit down; Nao adjusted his altitude as the man sat.

"My name is Paynal..." Pausing, he gave the hummingbird a hopeful look, who simply returned the look with a blank stare, before continuing, "You don't remember I assume, but I'm your servant."

Servant? This boggled the Fa'e's mind. Didn't kings, queens, and hugely rich people have servants? Surely little hummingbirds didn't have those things, and definitely not him. "I don't have servants." He frowned. What was this man trying to pull on him anyways?

"You did, and still do," When he received another confused look, Paynal frowned before continuing, "Naolin... You were a god."
Retrospect

This wasn't what he expected. At all.

The Fa'e blinked and gazed at the man in front of him. He had to be joking right? Nao was just a hummingbird, how was he a god?

"I wish this didn't have to come so suddenly to you, but I'm afraid this is the only way. Your enemies have been reborn, just as you have." As if this statement was supposed to have meaning to the Fa'e, Paynal paused and gazed at the little one.

"But... I am just Fa'e..." Nao began slowly, trailing off when he seemed unsure of what else to say.

"Being a Fa'e was the only way for you to live again. It had to be done. I am sorry you could not be brought back to your exact former self; my lord I am sorry you aren't as strong." Sighing, he continued, "You need to find your people, but now is not the time, you are too young."

Nao narrowed his eyes at the man. So what if he was young? He fought of the darkness that attacked him at prom didn't he? Sure he kind of passed out and was captured by Arkie, who tried to kill him, but that's beside the point.

"You can't." He stated, as if reading Nao's mind, "You must train first. Learn about yourself; past, present, and future. You will know what to do, trust yourself. Only then can you meet your people, your blood."

The Fa'e seemed baffled. He had so many questions but this guy didn't seem to want to tell him what he wanted to know. "How will I know when?"

"I will come for you." Paynal said simply, looking up at the unmoving sun with a frown, "It is almost night. We must hurry." For the first time, the man actually looked worried.

"Why?"

"The night is not safe for either of us."

There was a thud and a muffled grunt as the Fa'e landed roughly outside. Always problems with the landing; it had been much easier as a hummingbird.

The newly grown kid pushed the door open to HQ, peering in before opening it all the way and pattering into the building.

He was scrawny and short, his height not even reaching three feet. Though aside from his height change, his hair, and a few minor jewelry changes, Naolin hadn't changed much.

And he was happy about it.

Stopping in the middle of headquarters, he began to scan all the walls as if searching for something. Finally he found it, his face lighting up as he ran over to it.. only to find out he was way too short to reach it.

Nao eyed the tagboard in annoyance before letting his wings lift him upwards onto his toes first and then up level with the board. Reaching behind him, he pulled out a folded up piece of computer paper and unfolded it before carefully tacking it onto the board. One tack for each corner and directly in the center of the bare board.

perfect.

Satisfied with his work, the Fa'e lowered himself back to the ground, stumbling with the landing and nearly slamming himself face first into the wall in front of him. Luckily, he somehow managed to regain his balance swiftly, and was back on solid ground while looking up to admire his handiwork.

He hoped someone would help. He HAD to be a warrior, that's what they needed him for. And since he was in such dire need of this, he had even offered to pollenate flowers for them.

Hummingbirds were good at that, and Nao was even better than that.

Chewing on his labret nervously, the Fa'e thought of what had just happened to him, spacing out to the point where he seemed to be staring at the wall with a worm in his mouth.

Nyoka slithers into HQ. It has been forever since she has been here. She doesn't know what has brought her here at this moment, but here she is nonetheless.

She massages her temples, trying to relieve the pounding in her head. Meeting and meetings, that is all her life is now-a-days.

She sees a colorfule Fa'e staring blankly at a wall. Frowning, she slithers toward him. She is sure she knows who he is, but she won't say anything, lest she is wrong. "Hey, are you lost?" she asks.

XBear
Too absorbed in his own world to hear Nyoka approach, Nao gave a shriek when he finally was addressed. His wings, in the confusion, gave a few hesitant flaps as if preparing to flee the scene of attack.

After that wasp incident and recent events, the Fa'e had been a bit jumpy and skittish when surprised, more than normal that is.

He relaxed when he saw who it was and recognized her, "Hi Nyoka!"

Smiling, the Fa'e ran his hand through his hair and tried to act like nothing had happened. Nope. He was strong, and... Strong. Yeah.

"How's Wilbur?" Nao asked, changing the subject before it was brought up.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
"Hello, Naolin," Nyoka smiles a little. She tilts her head to the side, running her clawed hand through her short, messy hair, her snakes hissing as she does so.

Her smile falters a little, and her reptilian eyes register a bit of confusion. "I'm sorry, I am not sure if I know who Wilbur is," she says.

The name registers, faintly, in her memory. She heard it at the ball, right? Her brow furrows as she tries to recall the details. One of her snakes decided it needed to peak out from under her hat. . . . "Oh, is he one of my snakes?" she asks, never having had one of them named before. It is odd. . . . she doesn't even know if they have a gender. . . . "He's great, I suppose. I am well, at least, so I think that means he is," she grins, bearing her fangs. "And, how are you, Naolin?"

XBear
He was glad she didn't ask about his outburst and smiled wider, "He's one of your--"

Stopping when she figured it out, Nao nodded happily, "Yep! He was nice to me when I was young I think..."

When she asked him how he was, the Fa'e paused, contimplating how to answer the question. "I grew!" Well this was obvious, but he figured he should start there because his brain was still searching for how to explain other things... And if he should.

"I'm tired too, probably 'cause I'm bigger." He paused, unsure of whether to continue or not but decided that Nyoka wouldn't tell, still, he peered around the HQ cautiously before leaning in and whispering, "He said I was a god... and that I was brought back to fight my enemies that I don't know. That's why that's made..."

Nao pointed up to the tagboard and sighed, looking worried and slightly confused, "I don't know what to do."

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Nyoka grins. "I see you have grown," she says. "You are going to be a very handsome man," she tells him.

She tilts her head as he looks around the room, lifting an eyebrow as she watched him. Both her eyebrows wing up when she hears what he has to say. She glances over to where Noa pointed, and her eyes widen a little.

She doesn't comment, though. Best not get into things she doesn't want to get into. Instead, she looks back at Nao. "Who told you that you were a god?" she asks, her voice low, perhaps adding to a conspiritorial feel in the air.

XBear
"Some guy named," Nao eyed to room again before continuing, voice hushed, "Paynal." When he said the name, it seemed accented and easily flowed off Nao's tongue.

"I think I'm supposed to know him... But it was a dream, so it wasn't real right?" He gave Nyoka a hopeful look. Maybe he was right, it was just a silly dream that just happened to happen right before he grew.

Sighing, Nao added a bit more, "He said that being Fa'e was the only way to bring me back for my people. That I was... Reborn? What is that?"

The concept puzzled him, which was probably why being told he was a god definately threw the Fa'e for a mental loop. Gods were big and powerful and controlled things.

He was little, weak, and generally useless outside of flying and flowers. Thus he couldn't be a god. He had no powers.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Hoboy, Nyoka thinks when Nao is done speaking. Should she dash the boy's dreams?

Certainly not! Just because she, and a number of her friends, have had revelations through dreams doesn't mean that what Noalin dreamt was nothing more than that: a dream.

"When some of the Fa'e have dreamed," Nyoka starts, thoughtfully. "It turns out that is is more of a way for them to remember things. We are born of dreams, after all. Most of us, anyway. But, what you were told could have been just a dream," she adds, hastily. "Don't read too much into it, unless you start having memories that prove what was told to you in that dream was true," she advises.

Nyoka sinks into a sitting position on her tail, folding her hands rather primly in her lap. She looks at Nao, putting her thoughts into order before she speaks again. "You were reborn," she starts. "What you were in your past life is up to you to find out. All of the Fa'e were reborn," she says. "Being reborn means that you lived once before. It could have been a lond time ago, hundreds of years in fact, or it could have been only a few years ago," she explains. "Sometimes, to be reborn, the soul has to have a really good reason to do so," she adds. "Something that they left unfinished before they died. Does that make any sense to you?"

XBear
"I don't remember having dreams often, but I have seen him before... In another dream." Nao paused and moved to try and sit down on the bean bag without ruffling his feathers in a painful way, and finally he simply gave up and stayed standing. "Does that mean anything?"

"Past life..." He repeated slowly as if he were trying to absorb it, something clicking between her explanation and his dream, "He told me I had to find out who I was myself. That..." Nao frowned momentarily before relaxing again, "...he couldn't tell me himself."

Things were kind of making sense now. Man this sucked. What if this Paynal guy was right, he really didn't like the idea of only being brought back because people, or rather gods probably, that he had never heard of were coming back too? That didn't sound nice at all. What if he were dead sleeping and the woke him up.

That's just mean. He wanted to know who he was so he could make sense of all that had happened; if they were true. But no~, he had to leave without a name and bleeding.

What a sucky servant that he claimed to be... yeah.

"What if... I didn't have a reason and was forced to come back because of... I don't know. I'm really confused." Nao frowned, he really didn't like being this damned confused about himself.

"I understand reborn though..." He added quickly, to make sure Nyoka knew that she had explained it well.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
"It's still too early to tell about the dreams, Nao," Nyoka says, gently. The only reason she and her mum even believed what she was dreaming was because it was fairly obvious who she was in her past life. "He could just be a man you glimpsed on the street one day, and your subconscious is just using him. Dreams are tricky things," she says. "I don't know much about them, myself." She doesn't bring her own experiences into things. It might scare Nao a bit.

Nyoka frowns a little. "Well, not all people that are reborn had souls that had a big reason for coming back. Or, in fact, that they even wanted to come back," she says. "We are here for some purpose, though. That doesn't mean that you cannot have your own life, outside of the purpose. Or, that your purpose can't change. One of the reasons I was reborn was revenge. Against two gods. I only got back at one," she shrugs. "The other . . . it was impossible. And, anyway, I didn't feel a strong need for that."

She studies Nao a moment before speaking again. "If you want to know who you are, I suggest noting some things about your appearance," she says. "Usually, the markings, or wings, or hair, anything on the Fa'e, are keys to unlocking who they were in their past lives."

XBear
"It just seemed so real..." Nao sighed, reaching up to absently tug on a plug in his lobe, "I still want to learn how to fight though. Zanna seems to love it a lot. It looks fun."

This was true, something inside of him had been urging him to try it ever since he saw the man practicing. Everytime he caught sight of Zanna he just wanted too more. It was the main reason, aside from panic and confusion, that he asked X to find him a teacher.

Nao blinked at her next comment, furrowing his brow before raising one at Nyoka, "Is there a hummingbird god? Cause that wouldn't be so bad... Just rule the other hummingbirds right?" Giving a thoughtful look upwards, Nao bit his lip before continuing, "Though I don't think Discovery channel has talked about hummingbirds being... Like people?"

It was curious yes, but it WOULD be pretty nice to rule all of the hummingbirds. This way, he could have them repopulate the world with pretty flowers instead of all that ugly brick.

Hmm... Yes, butterfly bushes for everyone.

He'd even make it a requirement. 10 bushes per acre! No no... 100!

Oh how nice that would be. Yes.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
"Well, dreams can seem pretty real," Nyoka agrees.

She thinks on it for a moment. "I am sorry, Nao. I am only familiar with the Greek gods and goddesses. There might very well be one in another culture, but I wouldn't have the faintest idea," she smiles a little. "And, I am afriad I know very little about hummingbirds, aside from them flapping their wings really fast and being brightly colored," she chuckles a little.

"Now, fighting, I understand," she says, nodding. "And, I know Zanna. She has stayed with me in Greece a few times. Iphigenia is teaching her to fight better," she adds.

XBear
Naolin nodded and yawned before looking out the window, eyes widening slightly. It was getting dark. He forgot all that was said and abruptly stopped any and everything that he was doing. "I need to go home." He said in a hurry, gaze darting towards the lowering sun out the window.

"I've never liked night." Nao explained rigidly, "I need to get home."

Now. He mentally added, the Fa'e returning to his previously jumpy state of being.

"Zanna says you blink people... Can you take me home?" There had to be no chance of him being caught outside at night, and he gave Nyoka a hopeful, if not begging gaze as he held out his hand to her.

"Please don't tell people I am scared." He said quietly, eyes continuing to dart to the window and back to Nyoka's face. "I don't like it."

Yeah... That sun was going away and that meant the moon would be out. That was bad. The moon burned him and he wasn't particularly fond of being burned.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Nyoka blinks at Nao, standing abruptly at his change in mood. "Of course," she says, gently. "Brace yourself, it might be a bit claustrophobic," she warns, brow furrowed as she reaches for Nao's hand. "And, I promise I won't tell anyone," she says, reaching over to muss his hair before taking his hand in her own. A moment later, she has them outside of his home.

Morty had been relaxing the way that he usually relaxed in his room since the prom. Generally thinking in the way that he liked to do by holeing himself up alone without anyone bothering him, usually tinkering on something electronic. He had his headphones over his ears while sitting on the side of his bed with a handheld game system in one paw, a screwdriver in the other fiddling away. His door was open to provide light in the windowless room because his lamp had burnt out, and chances are if someone entered he probably wouldn't of noticed. Focused on his project at hand (Or Paw), Morty sat with his introverted thoughts in flannel PJ bottoms and his wings relaxed on his back.
Nao had lived with the other Fa'e, his sibling, and Kochi to know where he'd be at that moment. Walking quietly down the hall from his room to the other Fa'e's, Nao peered into the dark room from the safe not dark part of the house.

He pushed the door open wider with a nervous flick of his tailfeathers before speaking, "Hi Morty."

Absently, he gave the air a test sniff to see if Morty had showered lately.

The Fa'e noticed when a greater amount of light entered his room. He winced and held up a paw to his eyes to shield himself from it, noticing by the bright and vibrant colours it was Naolin. He had gotten used to being interupted by many things, the little Fa'e who had become quite a good friend to him was one of the interuptions he usually didn't mind.

"What is it?" He questioned, curling his fluffy and well groomed and recently showered tail around his stomach.
