Sangria: The REAL Way
I am always bemused when places serve sangria like it is some high brow drink. My roommate studied a semester in Spain and realized that sangria is something that you make when you are broke and want to get drunk
Difficulty: heart
Ingredients:
cheep red table wine (box wine works well)
assorted citrus fruits (oranges and grapefruits can easily be stolen from dining halls)
assorted overripe berries (check the clearance section of your local grocery market, they do not need to be pretty!)
any other assorted fruit that can be cut into bite sized pieces can also be used
*for a non-alcoholic version substitute the table wine for a 50/50 mixture of grape juice and cranberry juice*
Tools
knives
bowl
refrigerator

Instructions
-Chop up citrus fruits (and strawberries if you have them) into small, thin slices (about a quarter of an inch)
-Place the fruit into the bowl and add enough wine to cover the fruit: let it sit for at least a half an hour (longer is better) before drinking
No-Cook Key Lime Pie
Oh the dilemma...being a huge fan of key lime pie...and being a cook of questionable skill. Have a boything or girlthing you want to impress, this one dresses up nicely.

Difficulty: heart
Ingredients:
8 inch pre-made graham cracker crust
4-5 key limes (if you cannot find these 2-3 regular limes will work)
package of vanilla pudding mix
8 oz of cream cheese
optional
strawberries
whipped cream
Tools
spatula
bowl
refrigerator
CLEAN yellow mustard container or any other container that has a top like this

(or a juicer...but what college student has a juicer?!)
Instructions
-Juice the limes into the bowl by making a small cut in the side, and squishing it with the top of the mustard container, remove the seeds if they fall into the bowl
-Mix in the pudding mix, it should reach the consistency of normal pudding, if it is too thick add a little water
-Mix in the cream cheese
-Mix until there are no lumps
-Spread the mixture into the crust
-Garnish with chopped strawberries and whipped cream if you would like
-Pop it into the Fridge, let it chill for about an hour
Crabby Patties
Just like my Momma (or spongebob) used to make! These are also pretty yummy cold too
Difficulty: stressed
Ingredients:
6-8 oz can of crab meat*
*this can be substituted for a comparable amount of any sort of canned seafood: I usually make it with salmon, but I do not see why tuna couldn't be used as well*
1 egg
~1/2 cup crushed potato chips
1 small onion
1 clove garlic
salt
pepper
~1 T vegetable oil
Optional
buns
lettuce
tomato
other herbs/garnishes you find tasty
Tools
stove top
skillet
fork
Instructions
-Open up the can of crab-meat/tuna/salmon and drain. if you are using salmon pick off the skin and as many of the bones as you can get
-Chop up the onion
-Crush potato chips
-Mix all of the ingredients except the oil (and the bun...lettuce and so forth...) together, mix with a fork
-Form patties with hands (this should make about four)
-Fry in vegetable oil (be careful when you are frying them, let one side brown and then flip...it should take about 5 minutes)
-Place on a bun or eat it by itself
Nachos Supreme...From a Can!
Provided you keep a few staples around...you and your friends can have delicious nachos without the 10$ price tag
Difficulty: heart
Ingredients:
1 can of black beans (refried beans also work)
1 can of chili (this can be omitted if vegetarian)
1 can of chili con queso (the yellow cheese in a can)
1 can of salsa
2-3 packages of corn chips (depends on how much "topping" you want to make)
Optional
jalapeƱo peppers
sour cream
anything that may be tasty on nachos
Tools
microwave
mircowave safe bowls
can opener
large bowl or plate
Instructions
-Heat up the beans and chili according to the instructions on the cans (i.e plop them in a microwave safe bowl and zap them for a minute or so)
-Pour chips into a large bowl
-Pour beans, chili, con queso, salsa and optional ingredients onto the chips

Haha, nah, just trying to post up my staples before they pop out of my head. I got a few more...but they are written on scrap pieces of paper somewhere in the deep dark abyss known as my kitchen.

I am contemplating posting "Never Want to Eat Again Burritos" but they are gnarly. You make them when you are hungry, but do not have enough money to eat...so you eat something that makes you not want to eat.

Amazing!

Well, the list is updated, so feel free to post more. =]
Ghetto Dogs
My boyfriend and I ate this many a time. This recipe is gross. As in, the whole purpose of these things is to make you not want to eat any more (which is useful why you don't /have/ any more). Take heart poor college students! The whole purpose you endure this is so that you may sometime be able to eat actual food. Unless you are an art major. In that case...stock up.
Difficulty: heart
Ingredients:
2 hot dogs (or tofu pup if you swing that way)
American cheese
mayonnaise
pasta sauce
tortilla wrap
Tools
microwave/stove top/something to heat the hot dogs up with
knife
Instructions
-Heat the hot dogs up as you like to. If you have access to a stove top or grill, these things are a bit more edible. But for real ghetto style, boil them
-Spread the mayonnaise and pasta sauce on the tortilla
-Wrap the hot dog in American cheese
-Roll up the hot dog in the tortilla, so it sort of makes a burrito
-Enjoy?
Asian Peanut Sauce
Another family staple that has served me well during finals week. Adds protein and sodium to just about anything 3nodding
Difficulty: heart
Ingredients:
water
peanut butter
soy sauce
Tools:
bowl
spoon
Instructions:
-Mix peanut butter with equal parts water and soy sauce until it reaches a consistency comparable to yogurt
-Add to stir fries for extra flavor
-Jazz up frozen egg rolls
-Add to rice for more substance
-Top a Boca burger with it...delicious, this sauce a Boca burger and a bagel make for a surprisingly heavy meal
Fajitas on a Budget
This is a cheep version of one of my boyfriends favorites. It could probably be made in the microwave (minus the foil of course) but I have never really experimented with it. Much better than Snakes on a Plane. Bonus, nearly no dishes. I know their is a Fajita recipe already, but this utilizes a different method, so I thought I'd throw it in..
Difficulty: heart
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons lime juice
2 teaspoons water
1 clove garlic
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano
green pepper
onion
1/2 lb sliced roast beef (from the deli section)
flour tortillas
1/2 cup tomato
optional
green onions
taco sauce
sour cream
Tools:
aluminum foil
oven
knives
microwave
Instruction:
-Heat oven to 350 degrees
-Make a little foil packet with the lime juice, water, garlic, roast beef, onion, pepper and spices (exact portions depend on tastes, if you want more vegetables add more vegetables)
-Heat in over for 10-15 minutes
-Mix in tomato
-Pop tortillas in the microwave for 20 seconds to heat them up.
Sex in a Pie
This is a no-cook take on "sex in a pan" which is essentially "heart attack in a pan" and one of my signature desserts. It is fairly rich, and takes a little bit of time, but it is worth it.
Difficulty: stressed
Ingredients:
8 inch pre-made graham cracker crust
~30 of those individually wrapped caramel candies
1 snickers bar
12 oz cream cheese
~1 cup powdered sugar
package of chocolate pudding mix
1 cup milk
1 pint heavy whipping cream
Tools:
pan
stovetop
electronic mixer or whisk
refrigerator
mixing bowl
Instructions:
-Unwrap the caramels and snickers bar, melt them with about 2 tablespoons lukewarm water. This is probably the trickiest part of the recipe, and needs to be done on the lowest possible heat level
-Pour melted candy mixture onto graham cracker crust: let it cool for about 45 minutes in the refrigerator
-Mix together cream cheese and about 1/4 of a cup of powdered sugar (more of if you like it sweeter...less if you don't)
-Spread mixture over previous layer
-Combine pudding mix with milk, and about 1 cup of whipping cream, whisk until stiff
-Spread over cream cheese layer
-Whisk remaining whipping cream with about 1/4 cup of powered sugar until peaks form, spread this over the chocolate layer.
My goodness, the recipe for Crabby Patties sounds good! whee I so want to try it.
I always thought an In N Out burger was the above-the-sea version of the Crabby Patty.
Here's a drink you need to taste! Or drink primarily. I suppose it's some form of Ice cream soda..Whatever you'll love this!

The Ultimate Ice cream drink!

Ingredients:
Ice cream
Double thick cream
Coca-cola
Chocolate sprinkles
Ice

Things you're gunna need:
Glass
Ice cream scoop xD

Okay. Got your things? Good! Take the coca col and pour into the glass TOP TIP! :keep the glass tilted so you don't get the fomay head type thing! Add your ice you want quite a bit in it! Take the icecream and quite litterally plonk it on top Depending on the size of your glass I would reccomend two scoops. take the cream and add to the ice cream sprinkling the chocolate sprinkles over it!

There, you're done! wasn't that hard! If you want try it with different drinks or toppings!
